The 12” and 6” units have been built from scratch in order to achieve maximum performance in the hornloaded design. The 12” features a lightweight voice coil with linear performance from 140 Hz and up to 2 kHz. The unit has a powerful motor and features a 2” voice coil with excellent cooling and very low power compression. The 6” high/mid unit features a 1” aluminum voice coil. It offers excellent dynamics and very low distortion and has a wide frequency response from 600 Hz to 8 kHz. The HF unit is a 2” compression driver with a 3” titanium diaphragm. To achieve an extended frequency response, a special Mylar suspension is incorporated into the unit. The solid power handling and very low power compression are achieved by incorporating a specially developed flat aluminum voice coil. Apart from running nearly linear from 800 Hz to 18 kHz, the driver has a remarkably clean, neutral and open sound. All drive units in the MS1262 operate more than an octave beyond the frequency range in which they are engaged. The audible result of this extreme approach is a speaker with remarkable headroom. The nature of the speaker remains unchanged regardless of the output and it maintains detail and clarity even at maximum SPL. All drive units are mounted in an integrated hornflare module which couples the units close together and allows uniform reproduction in close proximity and a minimum of eddy current at the horn flare exit, thus improving throw and clarity. The cabinet is made of 18mm, 13 ply Finnish birch, assembled by trained Danish carpenters and treated with SafeCoat, a weather proof and highly scratch resistant, UV stable polyurethane/polyurea. Frequency response shall be within +-3 dB from 160-19kHz. AES power handling, sensitivity at 1w/1m and nominal impedance of the individual drive units shall be the following: 12” 350 watt - 106 dB - 8 ohm. 6 1/2”: 125 watt - 106 dB - 8ohm. 2”: 140 watt - 108 dB - 16 ohm. The maximum output of the loudspeaker system shall be 135 dB continuous and 141 dB peak. The loudspeaker system shall have one 12“ low mid unit, one 6 1/2“ mid high unit and one 2“ compression driver with a titanium diaphragm and Mylar suspension. All drive units shall be mounted in an integrated, time aligned hornflare equipped with phase plugs and dampened by a polyurethane foam. The loudspeaker shall also have a three-point flying system, each with a documented load of 2145 kg. The cabinet shall be protected with the SafeCoat surface, constructed of 18mm Baltic plywood, trapezoidal in shape with a 15 degree angle and be 820mm (32.6in) high, 590mm (23.5in) wide and 725mm (28.9in) deep with a weight of 68kg(149lbs).
