DYNAMIC CATHOLIC, ALIVE CHRIST AS SON OF MAN

Jesus is like us in all things except sin—a true “Son of Man,” as in a “son of Adam”! The New Adam—Jesus—not only created the first Adam, but is also descended from the first Adam according to His human nature. This great act of humility, leading to the humiliation of the Cross, ultimately leads to salvation offered as a gift for the whole human race. If we embrace the Cross, we will find mercy, forgiveness, and redemption. (CCC 504-505, 539) archstl.org/dynamic

JONAH PRAYER MINISTRY

Jonah Prayer Teams are available next weekend on Saturday, November 5th after the 4:00 p.m. Mass and on Sunday, November 6th after the 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Masses. The teams will be by the baptismal font. All prayer is confidential.

FEAST OF ALL SAINTS

Tuesday, November 1st is the Feast of All Saints. It is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be celebrated at 6:00, 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. and at 7:00 p.m.

A day to commemorate all saints has been celebrated at various times of the Church year since the 4th century. In the 8th century, Pope Gregory III dedicated a chapel in the St. Peter’s Basilica to “all the saints.” The day of this dedication was November 1. We have commemorated all saints on this day ever since. As we open our hearts to the Word of God, let us remember the saints who have gone before us and pray that one day we may embody the Beatitudes and come to be counted among those who enjoy God’s presence in heaven.

Please call Mary Ann Dust at (636) 394-3963, or Geri Batz at (636) 391-7154, for a pan or recipe.

MASS INTENTIONS

Dear Parishioners,

I extend a warm welcome to all of our guests and visitors who are joining us this weekend for our Mass of Remembrance at our 12 noon liturgy. At this Mass, we will pray for and remember all of our deceased brothers and sisters.

You will notice in our sanctuary many candles with the names of loved ones inscribed on them. Following the 12 noon Mass, we invite family members to take their loved one’s candle home with them.

This Wednesday, we will celebrate the commemoration of the Faithful Departed – All Souls. Recognizing that the entirety of the month of November is dedicated to praying for our deceased brothers and sisters, we invite you to inscribe the names of any deceased for whom you wish us to pray in the Book of Remembrance which may be found near our Holy Family statue in church.

On another note, our Holy Infant School Auction will take place this year on Friday, November 18th at Tapawingo Golf Club. This annual event is always a memorable parish celebration.

There is limited seating. Registration is easy. Please register online by clicking the Auction sign-up link found on our School News section at www.holyinfantschool.org If you would like to make a donation or would like additional information, please contact Jennifer Knapp at 314-704-3162. Thanks to everyone who makes this event such a great success for the mission of Holy Infant School.

Recently, we have had several new families register in our parish. It’s always great to hear families speak about how welcome the feel in our community. It’s one more thing that makes Holy Infant Parish such a desirable place to live, worship, and educate one’s children.

I encourage you to look in your family, in your neighborhood and on your block – and offer a welcome to anyone who may need to be invited into our parish family. It’s amazing how often people come to the rectory to register who have been invited by a fellow parishioner to participate in the life of our parish. Working together, as one committed parish family, I am convinced that we can continue a spirit of welcome and sense of belonging in our community.

God’s blessings to you and your family! PARISH OFFICE CLOSED

Tuesday, November 1st is the Feast of All Saints. The parish office will be closed.

GOD IS WITH US

The book of Wisdom tells us that the spirit of God is in all things. What a wonderful thought, and what a wonderful image to keep in front of us as we travel down life’s road. For if the path is revealed in the treading, it’s good to know that God is with us—and all around us—every step of the way.

But Paul knows that this divine presence is not timid. Instead, God calls out to us, and Paul prays that we, along with the Thessalonians, might be made worthy of that call. And who knows more about God’s call than Zacchaeus, the tax collector? Jesus called him out of a tree, for goodness’ sake. Or perhaps more correctly, as we reflect upon the end of today’s Gospel reading, for heaven’s sake.

RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS (Excerpts from a letter to the faithful by Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson)

“In the United States today, numerous Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests past age 70 benefit from the Retirement Fund for Religious collection. Donations to this collection provide funding that helps religious communities care for senior members and plan for long-term retirement needs.

On the weekend of November 6, all parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Louis will take up the annual collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious, an opportunity for you to acknowledge the thousands of

senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests for their faithful service.

We are all beneficiaries of the tremendous contributions these women and men have made to the Church in the United States. Through hard work, prayer, and sacrifice, they built Catholic schools and hospitals, initiated programs to promote social justice, and ministered to the neediest among us. Today, many religious communities struggle to care for their elderly members. Please consider making a financial gift to assist with the care of our senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests. Many thanks for considering this request.” (Collection is next weekend, November 5-6.)

BUILDING THE DOMESTIC CHURCH

Have you ever considered being part of something bigger than yourself? Have you ever considered joining the Knights of Columbus? The Knights of Columbus has something for everyone: men, women, fathers, mothers, families. Let me share with you some of the great work the council at Holy Infant does which you could be a part of as well. Felice Cuores which means “Happy Heart” in Italian is a dance for adults, age 18 and older, who are physically handicapped or are developmentally disabled. These dances take place at St. Clare of Assisi parish in the evening on the second Saturday of the month, and are chaperoned by men and women from our council. April Showers – Nurses for Newborns is another great event the women from the council sponsor.

Please consider becoming part of the Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary. For more information contact Fred Lagos at 314-283-1339, or Karen Hoffman at 314-539-1962.

for nearly 70 years.

The tour runs through all 50 states and will be an extraordinary occasion of healing, hope, and grace. You are invited to experience the blessing of gathering with others devoted to Our Lady when the statue visits these parishes in our Archdiocese:

St. Joseph, Cottleville November 10 8 am to 5 pm St. Joseph, Manchester November 11 8:30 am to 5 pm St. Gabriel, St. Louis November 12 8 am to 5 pm St. Wenceslaus, St. Louis November 13 9 am to 5 pm Sacred Heart, Florissant November 14 8 am to 5 pm

This epic journey across the United States is to allow Our Lady of Fatima, the Queen of Peace, to claim her dominion over our country and to bring the message of Fatima—the Peace Plan from heaven—to a world in need. Our Lord told Sister Lucia that he had placed the peace of the world in the Immaculate Heart. Countless favors and graces have been reported wherever the Virgin Statue has traveled.

Swimming Upstream:

Going Against the Current Culture

In this empowering talk, Steve Ray shares what it means to be a Chris-tian in today’s world. By examining the lives and martyrdoms of the early Christians and understanding how they transformed the pagan Greco-Roman culture, Steve gives us a blueprint for the New Evangelization.

Learn from early Christians how to swim upstream against the current culture and become a witness for Christ.

Steven Ray is so inspiring and communicates so well. I will be passing this CD on to others! —Trinity, Rochester IN
