Congratulations to Elizabeth Kessler and Max Boyea whose names
were drawn for Altar Servers of the month of December. Keep up
the faithful and dedicated service! Your service is appreciated.
~Deacon Tony FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
Today’s Gospel tells us “all Jerusalem” was upset because “King
Herod was deeply troubled.” A similar ripple affect happens in
families. One person’s negative attitude can affect the whole fami-
ly. If you want a peaceful, joyful home it must start with you.
Be Peaceful and Joyful!

RESPECT LIFE
We still have very little insight into how, in a span of forty
weeks, a single cell can grow into a precious baby of many tril-
lions of cells. Any surgical corrections that we attempt are
primitive compared to the normal development that takes place
every day. Do unborn babies qualify as human lives? We can
give the unborn blood transfusions, excise tumors, and repair
defects to the bladder, spine, and diaphragm in the womb. If
they are not human lives, what are they? (Dr. Wim. R. Lile, Jr.)
A thank you from St. Lucy’s
Dear Marie and the very generous People at St.
Charles,
Mia Culpa, Mia Culpa! I am so sorry to have left
St. Charles Church and Food Pantry off the list of
people thanked by the St. Lucy’s Food Pantry
Christmas give away!
You were so generous and supportive that my
omission is made even worse.
Please accept our sincere and loving thanks for
making the Christmas give away (over 2000 new
presents were gifted) a tremendous success!
Lots of love to you and God’s blessings!

Annual World Marriage Day will be celebrated on February 12, 2017
at 2:30pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Syra-
cuse. The Most Reverend Robert J. Cunningham will celebrate Mass
and witness a Renewal of Commitment to Holy Marriage by all cou-
ples in attendance. He will specially honor those couples celebrat-
ing their 25th, 50th, and those celebrating an anniversary beyond
their 50th year.
Please contact the parish office to register.
The blessing of the home is a popular Epiphany custom. Above the
entrance door of your home, mark the following inscription
20+ C+M+B+ 17. The numbers represent the year; the initials
represent Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar, the names of the three
wise men in legend.
The inscription also stands for Christus Mansionem Benedicat,
which means “Christ Bless this home.” The inscription remains
about the doorway until Pentecost.
Blessing of Chalk
Let us pray: O Lord, God, bless this creature chalk to make it
helpful to humankind. Grant that we who use it with faith and in-
scribe with it upon the entrance of our homes may enjoy physical
health and spiritual protection. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
House Blessing
Lord God of heaven and earth, who hast revealed thine only begot-
ten Son to every nation by the guidance of the star: Bless this
house and all who inhabit it. Fill them with the light of Christ, that
their love for others may truly reflect thy love. We ask this
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

everyone to join us. Bring a bible- bring a friend!
He next meeting will be January 14 and 21. Where? The Media Room.
Please consider bringing a friend and joining us! For more infor-
mation, please call Sister Eileen McGrath at 315-706-1744
