Noah’s Ark Found! ( of 15)

Introduction We live in extraordinary times. Our technologically advanced society has availed us

the opportunity to research and advance ideas about our past.

Many of us look at biblical prophecy and have come up with some ideas on how the end of man’s rule will come.

Confirming the past can help some understand the validity of what we read in the pages in the Bible.

But does that knowledge… a confirmation of stated events from the distant past… help or hinder one’s faith?

Will it increase your faith… and will it last? Think of Ancient Israel. There were many who had the

opportunity… the honor… to be present when the Almighty made His presence known to them at Sinai.

Daniel 12 If we look at the book of Daniel, we can see multiple

prophetic pronouncements about what will come to fruition in the future.

The trouble for us is that… just as other prophesies in the Bible… these are usually at a very high level… w/o much detail. Daniel 12:1: At that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book.


This prophesy was pointed out by Yeshua in His summation of the end-time scenario. Matthew 24:21-22: 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as

has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

This is but one of a multitude of examples where prophets and disciples of Messiah… even Yeshua Himself… reference the OT scriptures to prove what they are saying is… not only true… but forecasted well in advance of their declarations.

Continuing in Daniel, the fate of the righteous and the wicked is also foretold. Daniel 12:2-3: 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the

earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt.

3 Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.

We see NT scriptures, such as in I Corinthians chapter 15, I Thessalonians chapter 4, and Revelation chapters 11 and 20… confirm these principles… the resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Yet… for these basic ideas… Daniel is told to write down only what he was told… and to go no further. Daniel 12:4: But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.


While he tried, Daniel was not going to hear much more about specific end-time prophesies. Daniel 12:5-10: 5 Then I, Daniel, looked; and there stood two

others, one on this riverbank and the other on that riverbank.

6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders be?”

7 Then I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever, that it shall be for a time, times, and half a time; and when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered, all these things shall be finished.

8 Although I heard, I did not understand. Then I said, “My lord, what shall be the end of these things?”

9 And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.”

The “time, times, and half a time” is the same prophetic period… 1,260 days… as indicated in Revelation chapters 11:3 and 12:6… and the 42 months… as indicated in Revelation chapters 11:2 and 13:5.

Yet to me, one of the more interesting parts of Daniel chapter 12 is the latter part of verse 4: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.

Most people will gloss right over that line.


Then again, when you read it… just what does it mean?

Perhaps it has several applications… yet I think one of the main reasons is applicable to the timeframe alluded to by the 1st part of the verse… the “time of the end”!

How might we possibly see this?

Recent Discoveries As we approach the “end of the age” … as Yeshua

calls it in Matthew 24… the end of man’s misguided rule of himself… we see a number of interesting… if not frightening… situations to occur.

We now live in a world of almost instant communications.

We can speak with someone else half way across the planet… as if they are right next door.

Many advancements and efforts in other areas, such as archaeology, have brought forth evidence… that strictly on the face of it… from a religious perspective… should cause many to re-evaluate their belief system.

This could be to reinforce… or perhaps to completely revamp and alter… those things they hold near-and-dear to their hearts.

Previously, for example, I spoke on evidence of where Ancient Israel crossed the “Red Sea” … actually the “Sea of Reeds” … the “Yam Cuwph” … in their exodus from Egypt.


I also spoke of where Mt. Sinai actually is located… on the northwestern area of Saudi Arabia… rather than the mostly accepted lower part of the Sinai Peninsula.

Much of the research to make these discoveries were as a result of newly developed technologies… along with… I believe… divine inspiration.

You would figure that discoveries such as these would garner worldwide attention… yet has it?

Yet there’s another discovery which has also not received much fanfare. That of the story of Noah and his big boat!

The Story of Noah When we look at the story of Noah and the Ark, we

find some details in the story that should allow us to potentially prove its existence… if we could only find the remnants. Genesis 6:1-3: 1 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply

on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them,

2 that the sons of Elohim saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.

3 And Yehovah said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”

That 120 years is an important number… it would be the time from His proclamation to the time He would destroy all life on the earth. Genesis 6:7-8, 17-18: 7 So Yehovah said, “I will destroy man whom I

have created from the face of the earth, both man


and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.”

8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of Yehovah. 17 And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on

the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die.

18 But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark-you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you.

Noah, along with his 3 sons and their 4 wives… 8 in all… would be the only ones to survive the flood! Genesis 6:14: Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.

This “gopherwood” is in actually “kopher wood”… wood treated with Kopher… the “pitch” mentioned in the verse. Genesis 6:15-16: 15 And this is how you shall make it: The length of

the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.

16 You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.

The basic dimensions are indicated… 300 cubits long x 50 cubits wide x 30 cubits high.

The story continues on how Noah and his family entered the ark… along with all the animals… and whatever was need for them to survive long-term… and the doors were shut tight by the Almighty!


Anyone… and anything else (except perhaps the fish)… outside the ark were as good as dead!

It rained for 40 days and 40 nights! (Genesis 7:12) … an interesting number considering Moses’ and Yeshua’s fasting periods.

The waters continued to rise (v17) … to the point that there was no land uncovered by the waters (v19) … so much that the highest mountain had 15 cubits of water over them (v20) … and everything died (vv21-23) … and the waters prevailed 150 days (v24)!

At the end of 150 days, the waters began to recede, and the ark rested on the earth. Genesis 8:3-4: 3 And the waters receded continually from the

earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters decreased.

4 Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.

Area Where Ark Rested In Eastern Turkey, there is a mountain called Ararat. Most people believe, just like the biblical Mt. Sinai is

on the Sinai Peninsula, that the Bible says that Noah’s Ark is on what is today called Mt. Ararat.

But is this true? The “Ararat” indicated in 4 OT verses; Genesis 8:4, II

Kings 19:37, Isaiah 37:38 and Jeremiah 51:27 is an area, not a specific mountain.

The Hebrew “Ararat” is equivalent to “Urartu”; an ancient country in southwestern Asia, mentioned in early 13th century BC Assyrian sources.


Urartu covered areas of modern countries; eastern Turkey, Armenia and Iran.

In II Kings 19:37, Isaiah 37:38 and Jeremiah 51:27, the English word “Armenia” is used to describe the same Hebrew word “Ararat” of Genesis 8:4.

In eastern Turkey, in a valley next to Mount Ararat, is where some of the petrified remains of the Ark are today; at 39o-26’-26.32’’-N, 44o-14’-04.54’’-E.

Interest in this area became heightened when, in 1959, Francis Gary Powers (the same one who was later shot down over the Soviet Union a year later), took photos of eastern Turkey from his U2 spy plane.

Later, a Turkish army captain discovered an unusual shape while examining these aerial photographs of his country. The smooth shape… larger than a football field… stood out from the rough and rocky terrain at an altitude of 6,300 feet near the Turkish border with Iran.

The famous American aerial photography expert Dr. Brandenburger, after carefully studying the photo, concluded: “I have no doubt at all, that this object is a ship. In my entire career, I have never seen an object like this on a stereo photograph.”

The story remained subdued for nearly 2 decades until Dr. Ron Wyatt “rediscovered” the site.

Wyatt and others conducted thorough research over several years; using metal detection surveys, subsurface radar scans, and chemical analysis.

The conclusion was decisive… this was the petrified remains of Noah’s Ark!


It was so conclusive that the Turkish Government declared the area Noah’s Ark National Park on June 21, 1987.

The Proof – Visual So, what evidence did they draw in their conclusions? The biblical 300 cubits long x 50 cubits wide x 30

cubits high fits the physical dimensions measured. Depending on the definition of a cubic used, the 300

cubits of the Bible equates to the 515’ measured from stern to bow, and port to starboard averages 50 cubits.

Moses, who wrote down the book of Genesis, would have been familiar with the Egyptian cubit… with his background with that system… which was 20.6”.

II Chronicles 3:3 mentions this “former” measure. The Hebrew cubit of 18” was developed much later. On the starboard side near the stern there were four

vertical bulges protruding from the mud… at regular intervals… that appear to be the “ribs” of the hull.

Opposite to these, on the port side, a single rib protrudes from the mud. Its curved shape is very clear.

Surrounding it are more ribs, still largely buried in the mud, but visible upon close examination.

From the position of the object in the middle of an obvious mudflow, it is obvious that the object slid down more than a mile from its original location.

Geologists believe it was originally over 1,000 feet higher in the mountain and encased in a shell of hardened mud.

They surmise that a 1948 earthquake cracked the mud shell and revealed the structure.


This is confirmed by stories from the surrounding villagers who tell of its “sudden appearance” around that time.

In addition to the obvious visible observations, the use of ground penetrating radar (GPR) offered examination below the surface.

This technique is commonly used today to locate oil and other minerals.

The results showed regular spacing of objects, such as the ribs for the hull, plus other objects, such as the cross beams for the flooring.

The radar scans revealed a structure under the mud… with symmetry and logical placement of objects… that shows that it is unmistakably a man-made structure… most likely the Ark of Noah.

The Proof – Artifacts From an open cavity on the starboard side, Wyatt

discovered several petrified artifacts within the structure… from underground.

These included petrified animal dung, a petrified antler and a piece of cat hair.

Another surprising find was a piece of petrified wood thought to be a large beam.

Upon closer examination it is actually three pieces of plank that have been laminated together with some kind of organic glue!

This is the same technology used in modern plywood. Lamination makes the total strength of the wood much greater than the combined strength of the pieces.


This suggests a knowledge of construction far beyond anything we knew existed in that ancient world.

Even more surprising were laboratory analyses which not only revealed that the petrified wood contained carbon (proving it was once wood), but there were iron nails embedded in the wood!

Using sensitive metal detectors, Wyatt dug up large disc shaped rivets.

Simple observations of the metal show where the rivet had been hammered after being inserted through a hole to tie pieces of the ship together.

Also, the content of the rivets included 8% aluminum. Because of its strong affinity for oxygen, aluminum is

almost never found in its elemental state… instead it is found in oxides or silicates.

This proves the aluminum in the rivets were as a result of a man-made action.

Also in the rivets was a small amount of titanium and magnesium… again, elements requiring man’s actions for elemental state usage.

Several miles from the location of the Ark, huge stones were discovered, some standing upright while others lying on the ground.

These stones, weighing many tons, have holes carved in them.

Scientists have determined that they were anchors and the holes would have been their attachment to a ship with hemp rope.

The huge anchors would have been suspended from the keel of the ship near the bow… a common practice among ancient mariners to stabilize a heavy ship and


ensure that the bow is always facing the on-coming waves.

Without them, a “top heavy” ship, such as the Ark, might capsized by a large side-approaching wave.

Further evidence has been found in the local surrounding areas from the Ark site. This includes ancient inscriptions in stone related to the 8 people on the Ark.

Most Recent Activities In addition to this, within the past several years,

archeology in the general location of the Ark site has taken research even further.

Several large structures… well above the altitude where the Ark outline lies now… were discovered… and has provided a wealth of additional information.

This is in a region far above the tree line… where wood is naturally available for use for construction.

But wood is abundantly used in these structures… with sophisticated construction techniques apparent.

The videos taken as part of the expedition from 2014 shows wood… not petrified wood… frozen in time.

Could this also be part of the original Ark?

The Logical Assessment What can we logically surmise from the apparent

location of Noah’s Ark?

1. The area of Mt. Ararat is probably the only spot on earth that matches the biblical description of the landing place of Noah’s Ark.


2. Pieces of large wooden structures about the size of Noah’s Ark lies broken in 3 sections above 14,000 feet near Mount Ararat.

3. Scattered wreckage indicates that the structure has slid from the top of the mountain along the glacier extending from the south side of the mountain.

4. The top of the mountain is permanently frozen… which provides excellent conditions for preserving organic artifacts from more than 4,000 years ago.

5. Natives whose ancestors lived on and near Mount Ararat report that the structure slid from the saddle of the mountain in the great earthquake of 1840.

6. Carbon dating of wood from the structure indicates ~2,800 BC… fitting the biblical era of Noah’s Flood according to the Genesis 5 chronology.

7. Pottery found inside the frozen structure dates to the Early Bronze Age… and fits the biblical dating for the Flood.

8. One section shows nautical features, such as a bowed hull.

9. Three levels of the structure are visible which fits the biblical data.

10. It is constructed with square wooden pegs inserted into hewn square holes.

11. Fallen boards inside the structure are suitable for cage material.

12. It contains compartments with ceiling beams of 7 wooden pegs, possibly for tying for feeding or cleaning animals.

13. The hull is covered with a dark pitch substance.


Could this be a hoax? Hardly. These factors make it virtually impossible that it is a hoax:

1. It is too old: It is built from timber that has been radiocarbon and archaeologically dated to the time of Noah (3rd millennium B.C.).

2. It is too high: The structures are found at 15,000 feet… in the permanent snow cap… far above the tree line and too high to construct the structures that have been found there.

3. It is too deeply buried: Under 20-30 feet of frozen volcanic rock and ice. Sub-freezing temperatures make it virtually impossible to construct a large ship under those conditions.

4. It is too unstable and dangerous in its location: One site leans precariously on a ledge, another on the side of a glacier slowing moving down the mountain.

5. It is too big: It is in at least two pieces which together appear to be about the size of Noah’s Ark (450 feet long). Dragging that much timber that high, fabricating and assembling all the intricate wooden joints is too much for this this height and temperature.

6. It is too complicated: It has a bowed hull, three decks, numerous square deep wooden joints for square wooden nails, tongue and grooved joined boards with evidence of handcraft: too intricate and complex to construct under difficult conditions.


7. It is too ancient: Surface patina on the wood found does not exist on recently fabricated boards, and there is no known way to fabricate it.

Conclusion When we look at the evidence, it draws a conclusion

that it is be highly likely that the remains of Noah’s Ark have been found.

Those who claim the Bible contains mythical stories have once again been proven wrong.

Fantasies such as the Gilgamesh and Akkadian epics are just that… fantasies. They are people trying to re-tell the Noahic Flood event.

In fact, one can find… in every culture around the world… an ancient story of a cataclysmic flood.

Today, we can see proof of that flood. Your Bible is extensive with history. Be assured, that the Almighty Yehovah sets forth His

purpose… His plans… His will… regardless of our actions or beliefs.

Yet the invitation to believe is always there. Let us pray that more will come to the full knowledge

of our Maker… and of His Son… through which salvation is only possible.

Finding Noah’s Ark is just one more proof!
