LITURGY OF THE WORD
Jeremiah 1:4–5, 17–19 The word of the Lord comes to Jeremiah.
1 Corinthians 12:31-13:13 [or 13:4–13] The greatest of these is love.
Luke 4: 21–30 The people rise up to drive Jesus out of their town.
Jeremiah was called to preach God’s word, but most of the first reading describes God fortifying him against the opposition he will face. Jesus meets opposition from his hometown and needs to move on. But in between we are treated to Saint Paul’s rhapsody on love. The Corinthians were alternately jealous and dismissive of others’ spiritual gifts. Paul preaches that love is more important than any spiritual gift, for without love nothing else matters.

CATHEDRAL NEWS
Sponsored Run for the Cathedral: A few intrepid parishioners are taking on the half marathon in Stirling in late April to raise funds for St. Andrew’s Cathedral. Their training is going very well. In a few weeks there will be the opportunity to donate after Sunday Masses. But for those who are used to more high-tech methods, you can sponsor our runners now using PayPal from our website, following the instructions on our donations page:http://www.cathedralg1.org/donations.html.
Chalices: Many thanks to all who contributed so generously to the appeal for donations towards new chalices. The four new chalices have now arrived and will be blessed at some point in the next few weeks before entering regular use.
Surplus clothes, books? Parishioner John McVey (Tel: 0141 429 2015, Mob: 07799 735893) is available to collect. Proceeds are helping various charities.
Helping in the Liturgy. We are always looking for people willing to assist at Mass as readers, servers, passkeepers on Sundays or weekdays. The choir are always happy to have new singers too—contact the Director of Music, Maria Madden or one of the current choir members.
WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS
This church was built in 1816 to serve Glasgow’s rapidly expanding Catholic population. Following the restoration of the Catholic Hierarchy of Scotland in 1878, St Andrew’s became the Cathedral of the restored Archdiocese of Glasgow. In April 2011 a major renovation project was completed, providing the Cathedral with fresh décor, new artwork and an innovative cloister garden. Today it remains a popular city centre church, offering tranquillity for busy lives, as well as a fitting venue for the important liturgical events of the Archdiocese. Thank you for your presence and for your support.
