NEW DOCTORS JOIN THE PRACTICE
A TAP AND A CLICK COULD SAVE YOU A TRIP If you are over 18 and want advice from your doctor, self-help information or have an administrative request (such as a sick note or want to request your test results) you can use our eConsult service.
eConsult is a more convenient way to get help from us: for your condition, symptoms or for administrative requests.
eConsults are filled out online and can be done at any time, day or night, 7 days per week. We will decide how best to help you—you may not need to come to the surgery.
eConsult has a built in red flag system to alert you to anything you need to speak to us about.
Patients who have used the service said:
“I got a referral within one day and would have otherwise had to wait a couple of weeks for a face to face appointment with my GP.”
“I didn't have to wait for an appointment. The response was within 24 hours and the information was full and clear, including relevant hospital contact details. “
“Saves appointment times for things you don't necessarily need a face to face appointment for.”
69% of patients said their issue was completely resolved seven days after using the service and 100% of patients said they were
contacted within the stated response time.

News Bulletin from Coleridge Medical Centre
November 2019
All we ask is that you continue to see the same doctor or nurse for an episode of care or an ongoing condition. If the doctor or nurse already knows you and the history of your condition, this reduces the need to share the same information again during your consultation.
If you are over 75 years of age we will write to you if your registered GP will be changing.
We will SMS text message
Our new GP Partners, Dr Michael Skene and Dr Craig Thompson are ready to welcome patients to their registered lists. You can read more about them on page 2.
Over the coming weeks we will be building their lists of patients from new registrations and by transferring patients from existing GP lists. Whilst your registered GP oversees your care, patients can consult with any GP within the practice.
any patient affected who has consented for us to contact them via text message.
Otherwise please ask us who your registered GP is next time you contact us.

Flu vaccination is available every year on the NHS to help protect adults and children at risk of flu and its complications. We recommend that eligible patients get their flu jab sooner rather than later. Here’s why:-
Having a flu vaccination is a positive lifestyle choice as it helps to protect those around you as well as giving individual protection.
You are eligible for a flu vaccination because you have a long term condition or age puts you at increased risk of flu and the complications of having the virus.
Healthy children are offered the flu vaccination because some children can develop a high fever or complications
from flu. Healthy children are more likely to have to be admitted to hospital with flu than any other age group.
Protecting children against flu helps to stop the spread to other more vulnerable family and friends.
For children with long-term health conditions such as diabetes, asthma or heart-disease, getting the flu can be really serious and these vulnerable children are at greater risk of developing serious complications.
Flu is much worse than a heavy cold. Flu symptoms can be severe and can come on suddenly. You are likely to spend several days in bed and feel very unwell. Some people become seriously ill and may have to go to hospital.
You are eligible for flu vaccine because you need it.
The flu vaccine is very safe.
The flu vaccine is the best protection we have against an unpredictable virus
The flu vaccine cannot give you flu. Your arm might be a little sore where you were injected and some people have a slight temperature.
It can take up to two weeks for the flu vaccine to work so get vaccinated as soon as you can.
Your vaccination helps to protect those around you too.
This year we have experienced some difficulty in obtaining stock of some vaccines. Please book your appointment as soon as possible and while stocks last.

for all. We will continue to offer a range of opportunities to our patients to participate in medical research that is of high quality, ethically approved and relevant.
Your doctor or nurse may ask if you wish to be involved in a research study that the practice is taking part in. You are under no obligation to do so and if you decline this will not affect your treatment in any way. We try to keep everyone up to date with our studies so please take a look at our website and at the notice boards in the surgery and inform
We are actively involved in research governed by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR). We are part of the South West Peninsula Clinical Research Network (CRNSW).
As a practice we are pleased to be actively involved in research that helps find the answers to important medical questions. This in turn shapes better care in general practice and in the NHS as a whole. Our practice aims to improve the knowledge about illness and help develop better treatments and outcomes
reception if you are interested in taking part.
Anonymised patient data may be used for research that is in the best interest of patients and the NHS. This is sometimes requested by the Department of Health or National Research Teams to gain an understanding of illness and medicine on a national level. If you do not want to participate in any research please write to the practice manager.
