Rebels will be visiting Kamloops, B.C., and in particular, the Kamloops Raiders Rugby Club. is is made possible through the YMCA Youth Exchange Cana- da Program. Participants have to be between 2 and 8 years old and have a group of 0 -30 individuals. Each of V.C.I.’s 24 mem- ber team will be twinned with groups of the same age and num- bers in other provinces or territories in Canada. Various stag- es of the exchange preparation, the actual exchange, hosting the twin group, and following up on the exchange will allow partici- pants an opportunity to become involved in another community and develop leadership and personal skills. Participants will also learn a lot more about Canada’s diversity and develop a strong- er sense of community. Kamloops Rugby Club will be visiting Vankleek Hill from May 30 until June 5. Both groups will be involved in a rugby clincic for elementary school pupils as part of their compulsory community project. A rugby tournament featuring schools from the area will add to the excitement, along with many other fun activities planned for our guests. Rugby in conjunction with the YMCA program is being used as a tool to further develop leadership and self discipline among the group. Hopefully this will lead to rugby becoming a more frequent program offered at schools in the area and through- out Canada. If you would like to make a donation to the V.C.I.
