Asian Paints’ second unit in Cairobegins operations

Paints major Asian Paints hascommissioned a 50,000-klt plantin Cairo, its second in Egypt. Thecompany proposes to hike thecapacity of the plant to 14,000-klt.Asian Paints has invested Rup 25crore so far in the plant.

OAO Russkie kraski (Russia) is alarge domestic dyes and paintsproducer. In 1Q 2010 its salesincreased by 28% compared tothe same period of 2009 toRoubles 628 M. Output ofcommercial products was 5492tonnes (118%). The output of

water dispersion and powderpaints is continuing to rise.

AkzoNobel plans to close down thefacility in Bensheim

AkzoNobel Powder Coatings isreorganising its productionactivities in Germany after theacquisition of the powder coatingsactivities of Dow Chemicals. Inthe framework of this restructuringthe group plans to close downthe production facility inBensheim in Germany by the endof 2010. The acquisition fromDow included a production facilityin Arnsberg in Germany.AkzoNobel plans to concentratethe activities at the site inArnsberg in future. The facility inBensheim currently suppliespowder coatings for decorativeapplications to markets inGermany, Austria, Switzerland aswell as the Scandinavian andBaltic States.

Russian Coatings reports 1H 2010results

The Russian Coatings Companyhad sales in 1H 2010 up 20% on1H 2009 at Roubles 1.86 bn.Production was up 20% at 17,186tonnes. Gross output (includingintermediates) rose 16% to21,750 tonnes. Solvent-basedpaints production rose 10%,water-based dispersion paints46%, and powder paints 90%.
