Russell Robert "Bud" Leach, son of Archie Ray (1886-1957) and Blanche A. (Smith) (1886-1975) Leach, was born 5 September 1925, Ingham County, Michigan. According to the 1940 Michigan, Ingham County, Meridian Township, US Federal Census the Leach family was living on Van Atta Road and Bud was a 2nd year high school student. Bud joined the United States Marine Corp in August 1943. Lansing State Journal (Lansing, Michigan) Sunday 3 September 1944 LEACH - Pfc. Russell (Bud) Leach has returned to San Diego, Cal., after spending 15 days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Leach, 1705 Lyons avenue, and his sisters. Private Leach entered the service August 18, 1943, going forest to San Diego, and then to Norman, Oka. He completed aviation machinist mate school June 17, and was then transferred to naval air gunnery school at Purcell, Okla. He is now stationed in San Diego. Bud was honorably discharged from USMC by 1946 and married 25 May 1946 Okemos, Ingham County, Miss Arlene Jean Frank. Lansing State Journal, June 20, 1946

Bud went back to school and satisfied all the requirements for completion of his high school diploma. He graduated from Okemos High School with the class of 1947.

Bud continued to be a Marine Corps reservist for many years. He and Arlene later moved to Riverside County, California.

They celebrated 66 years and two sons together. Bud died 21 March 2015, Riverside County. Arlene, born 21 February 1927, Allegan County, Michigan, died 1 April 2012, Riverside County. Bud and Arlene were interred in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside County.

Those left to mourn his passing, but cherish his memory are his children, Wayne Russell Leach (Rayma) and Brian Robert Leach (Barbara) and a host of other family members and friends.
