Easter Monday, 21 April

The Leyland Titan PD3/6 bus will be officially handed back to Isle of Man Transport Chief Engineer Peter Maddocks at 16:00. The vehicle will be immediately transferred to transport headquarters for final interior refurbishment in preparation for PPV testing in order to return to service once again as part of the heritage fleet.

Passengers with special Vintage Bus Convoy tickets will be able to transfer from the 14:55 tram arrival at Ramsey Station. Passengers will be transferred to Jurby Transport Museum in time for the handing over of the PD3 at 16:00.

The vehicle was delivered new to Isle of Man Road Services in 1964 as fleet number 60 (7 MAN), being one of a batch of three with the St Helen’s style fiberglass front. It was later re-registered 67 UMN and re-numbered as fleet number 67. In 1976 the Isle of Man Government acquired the Island’s bus services and transferred the vehicle to Isle of Man National Transport. It was subsequently re-numbered 72 in 1979.

It was withdrawn from service in October 1983 and sold to Liverpool-based enthusiast Rob Wilson and, after a spell of preservation, it was re-acquired by Isle of Man Transport as an addition to the heritage fleet as the last example of its class. After being withdrawn from service and garaged for a number of years, PD3 has recently been lovingly restored by the enthusiastic Manx Transport Trust team at the Jurby Transport Museum.

Service bus departs Ramsey Station at 11:00 13:00 15:00
