From Dan Dozier While JaneLee and I were students at David Lipscomb College, Dr. Joe Gray formed a group on campus
known as “Project Good News.” Having served as missionaries in New Zealand for several years, Dr. and Mrs. Gray wanted to raise the awareness of college students to the need to evangelize the world. They wanted to give students a taste of what mission work was like. They organized short-term mission trips to various parts of the world. As a result, a number of our college friends became long-term missionaries. Those of us who did not become missionaries had a new appreciation for mission work and have become lifelong supporters of mission work. “Mission Accomplished,” Dr. Gray (pardon the pun). Since those days many churches have sent groups on short-term mission trips. These days many of those trips are to parts of the world where poverty is predominant. Instead of knocking doors, they do things like dig water wells, build basic housing structures and conduct medical mission work. Those things are used to open people’s hearts to hear the gospel. The individuals from Rural Hill who are going this week to Guatemala will return as different people because of the experience they will have there. Not only will we be able to help people in that area, but also we will return with our eyes and hearts more open to the need to spread the good news about Jesus to the world. In some ways we, as individuals, and we, as a church, will benefit more from the trip than those we went to serve. Keep us and the people in Guatemala in your prayers this week.

Needs for June:
From Wilfred Salvatierra
¡Renueva tu vida! Confiesa tus pecados a Dios y
The Guatemala Mission Team leaves this Tuesday for a week of intense
work. Please pray for their safety, their
energy, enthusiasm, and the success of their
mission as they influence souls for Christ.

Your influence for Christ
around the world.....
In recent bulletins, we reported on the early years of the
church in Cebu, Philippines, its growth over the years,
the development of a Christian School (K-12th grade)
and Cebu Bible College as well as the work of the college
graduates as they preach the good news to rural areas.
One final segment about the Philippine work:
Ronald Quilaton is a Philippine native who attended
Lipscomb University a few years ago. During his studies
here, Ronald was a member at Rural Hill. He is now our
point person for the work in the Philippines and teaches at
Cebu Bible College. He and his wife, Caidy, have started
the Jesan Center. The Center is dedicated to children who
are in poverty or orphaned. The staff there provides food,
a safe place, tutoring, and teaching about Christ for the
hungry street children. Above all, the love of God is
planted in their hearts.

New Sunday Morning Class begins, TODAY, July 19. Muslims are the fastest growing religious group in the world.
While the percentage of U.S. population that claims to be
Muslim is rather small, they are projected to grow faster than
any other US religious group, with the exception of those that
claim no religious affiliation. The Mayberry Class (Room
212) will begin a survey of the religion of Islam TODAY. This non-political and respectful study will begin with the
basics of Islamic history and belief, and also examine the
Qur’an and Islamic law, Muslim worship and daily life, and the
major forms of Islam. During the study, we will look at the
concept of Abrahamic religions as we compare Christianity and
Judaism to Islam. Mike Green will lead the study, combining
DVD resources as well as lecture and discussions. Anyone
interested in expanding their knowledge is welcome to join us.
A Wedding Shower for Lindsey Welch,
is planned TODAY (Sunday, July 19)
from 12:30 to 2:00 in the fellowship hall.
Lindsey and her fiancé, Adrian Kingsbury,
are registered at
Macy’s, Bed, Bath, & Beyond and Target.
The M & M’s (Mature Members 55+) will meet this Tues-
day, July 21, at 6:00 p.m. for a potluck dinner in the fellowship
hall. The theme will be “Garden Party.” Vegetable dishes,
salads, and desserts are encouraged. Meat will be provided. If
you wish to dress in “farm attire” feel free to do so.
