STAGE 1 - INITIATEJuly 25, 2019 to 16 August, 2019

STAGE 2 - IDEATE17 August, 2019 to 15 September, 2019

Who can participate?Teams who have completed preliminary registration by filling the online form.What to do?Each team has to identify a social concern in any of the sustainable development goals 3, 6, 7 and 13 in their community/college/neighbourhood.Each team has to submit a PDF report including answers to the following questions:• Identifying the Mission – the issue you want to work on under the specified SDG theme• What innovation/new thought can you bring to the identified problem or issue?• How can this new idea/thought help answer the existing problem?• How do you envisage to work on the identified theme? – who do you plan to work with – the

community/within the college or university/institute, who will be the stakeholders involved, etc (can be depicted using diagrams or flowcharts)

• How do you plan to fund the project, clearly mentioning the source and projected amount of funding required.

Guidelines • The Report must include a cover page with the SDG theme, project title, name of the participants and

Mentors (mandatory for Tier 1), college/school/Institute affiliations and lastly, their contact information.Rules• The submitted report to be in PDF format with a maximum of 1500 words and could include graphs,

pictures, diagrams, flow charts etcRegistration can be completed by submitting the report to [email protected] and a registration fee of Rs. 500 per Team for Tier 2 and Rs. 750 per Team for Tier 3. Payment has to made in favour of “Principal, Sri Venkateswara College” payable at Delhi through Demand draft or NEFT/RTGS. No fee is required for Tier 1 applications.

Complete the registration form online and submit to register your team. This is a preliminary registration and confirms participation. Registration will be considered complete only after submission of a report as per guidelines given below. Deadline for preliminary registration is 16th August, 2019.

STAGE 4 - Grand Finale4-5 November, 2019

Who Can Participate? • Shortlisted Teams from Stage 3 (selected after Phase 1 screening)

What to do?• Selected teams to implement their innovative ideas submitted in the stage 2 report• Teams can work with an NGO/Organization/Neighbourhood/Institute• Each team to work with a Mentor (mandatory for Tier 1)• Submit a implementation report

Guidelines• Each report to include the innovations implemented, the monitoring mechanism indicating the impact

of the innovation, challenges faced, the solutions developed to overcome these challenges, use of resources and funds generated as well as the learning from the project.

• Each team must share future steps, list reasons if project was partially completed.

Rules• Implementation report in PPT/movie format compatible with MS office• Presentation length – maximum 7 min• Presentation can include –videos, photographs and audio clips embedded in the presentation• Presentation has to be auto-timed. • A warning buzzer will be given at the end of 5 minutes. Teams taking extra time will lose points.• Each team will present to a panel of esteemed judges, who will have the right to question the teams on

their projects

Evaluation Criteria• Initiative, Creativity, Commitment• Understanding of the topic, Engagement with community• Presentation and clarity• Novelty

Who Can Participate? Teams who have submitted a PDF report and paid the registration fee.Judges to shortlist 5 teams for the next stage. Shortlisted teams will be notified by email by 20th September, 2019.

Rules and Regulations

Tier 1

1. School Teams are required to apply through the school.

2. 3-5 students per team from same school. Team can be a mix of 10th, 11th and/or 12th graders.

3. Association with a mentor is mandatory. The selection of the mentor is not restricted to the school.

4. Multiple Teams can apply from one school.

5. There is no registration fee for high school students.

Tiers 2 and Tier 3

1. This is a competition for undergraduate students (Tier 2) and postgraduate students (Tier 3).

2. This is a team event. You are required to register in a team of 3-5 members. Each team should have a lead member whose contact information must be provided at the time of registration. Inter-disciplinarity is encouraged.

3. Teams can be inter-college/inter-departmental/inter-institutional.

4. Multiple teams from one college/university/Institute are allowed.

5. Mentor is encouraged but not mandatory.

6. Each entry has a separate registration fee that will be non-refundable.

7. Registration fee is Rs.500/Team for Tier 2 and Rs 750/Team for Tier 3.

General Rules

1. Your innovation should focus towards providing novel solutions to any ONE of the key SDG areas floated for the competition.

2. Your ideas should be original and innovative. Plagiarism of any sort shall not be tolerated.

3. Internet can be used as a source of material and information regarding the topic in question.

4. Abstract once submitted cannot be changed.

5. If the abstract does not conform to the guidelines, it will not be screened.

6. A certificate of participation will be given to all those participants who submit abstracts and the registration fee.

7. Mentors will also be awarded mentoring certificates.

8. In case of No-Show, registration fees will not be refunded.

Rules for the Final Presentation

1. A PPT/PDF presentation is mandatory.

2. Selected teams shall prepare a PRESENTATION that explains the problem briefly, and their innovation to tackle the problem. The presentation should also outline the impact and feasibility of translation into the public domain.

3. Each team shall be allotted 7 minutes for presentation. ONLY the lead member shall give the presentation.

4. The presentation must include references/sources, acknowledgements and mentor name (if any).

5. The presentation shall be followed by a Q/A round where the judges shall pose questions regarding the presentation. All team members MUST participate in this session.

6. A copy of the presentation should be mailed to [email protected] prior to the event date.

7. The decision of the judges shall be final.

Awards and Prizes

Tier 1

First Prize: Prize of worth Rs. 5,000 and an opportunity to do a 2 week internship at the Department of Biochemistry, Sri Venkateswara College

Second Prize: Prize of worth Rs. 3000

Third Prize: Prize of worth Rs. 2000

Tier 2

First Prize: Cash Prize of Rs. 7,000 and an opportunity to do a 4 week internship at leading national research institutes for all team members

Second Prize: Cash Prize of Rs. 5000

Third Prize: Cash Prize of Rs. 3000

Tier 3

First Prize: Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000 and an opportunity to translate their idea at Bio-NEST Bio-incubator facility, RCB, Faridabad

Second Prize: Cash Prize of Rs. 6000

Third Prize: Cash Prize of Rs. 4000

Certificate of Participation will be given to all participating teams members and mentors.

Top 3 innovative ideas will be provided free rental space at the BioNest Bio-incubator facility at RCB for 6 months to translate their idea with equipment facility (note: Consumables are not included)

(Note: In cases where winning team members do not avail the internship offer, the opportunity may be given to second place team members)
