II Eligibility and Educational Qualification

(i) The candidates should have undergone 10+2+3(15) or 11+1+3 (15) pattern of study and passed the qualifying examination conducted by the respective StateBoard of CBSE or any other recognized

Board of Education/Examination and U.G. Degree examination of the UGC recognized Universities

in any one of the school subjects offered by the Directorate of School Education at the Secondary / Higher Secondary Education level.

(ii) Candidates who have passed the U.G. or P.G. degree in Open University System without

qualifying in 11 years SSLC examination and 1 year of Pre-University Course ( P.U.C.) examination

or 10+2 pattern of School Education examination shall not be considered for admission.

(iii) Candidates who have taken more than one main subject in Part III/ Part IV (under Double/Triple M ajor System ) of U.G. Degree course should have to choose only one of the main subjects and

should have applied for that Optional only. In such cases, marks obtained by the candidates in Two /

Three major subjects shall be taken into account to arrive percentage of marks as stipulated in item ( viii ).

(iv) Candidates who have passed under Additional Degree Programme with less than three years duration are not eligible for admission.

(v) Candidates who have passed under four year Dual Degree Programme with two major subjects

under Part III are not eligible for admission.

(vi) Candidates who have qualified in P.G. Degree ( 5 year Integrated Course) under 10+2+5 or

11+1+5 pattern of study shall be considered for admission. In such cases, the marks obtained by the candidates in the PG shall be taken into account for admission to the B.Ed. Degree Course.

(vii) a) Candidates who have done their U.G. degree in Applied Mathematics can apply for M athematics.

b) Candidates who have done their U.G. degree in Applied Physics,Geo-Physics, Bio-Physics and

Electronics can apply for Physical Science. c) Candidates who have done their U.G. degree in Bio-Chemistry and Applied Chemistry can apply

for Physical Science. d) Candidates who have done their U.G. degree in Bio-Technology and Plant-Biology and Plant

Biotechnology can apply for Biological Science.

e) Candidates who have done their U.G. degree in Environmental Science and M icro-Biology can apply for Biological Science.

f) Candidates who have done their U.G. degree in Applied Geography can apply for Geography.

g) Candidates who have done their UG Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Application. etc., can apply for Computer Science.

h) Post Graduate candidates in Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic and Indian Culture with 50% (irrespective of their UG marks) of

marks in PG Degree or in the interdisciplinary subjects which are being declared equivalent by the

respective University can apply. i) The candidates qualified in PG Degree and secured 50% of marks with the same major subjects in

UG Degree but not fulfilling the minimum percentage of marks required in UG Degree as per community / category-wise will be eligible.

j) Candidates who have done their PG Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics are eligible to apply for

Home Science. k) Candidates who have done their UG in the school subjects are eligible for admission to B.Ed.

However, those who have done the UG in the subjects not covered under this G.O shall have to obtain equivalence certificate for the respective subjects from the concerned Universities to consider their admission to B.Ed Degree Course. The decision of the University shall be final in this regard.

l) Candidates who have done their U.G. level without language Tamil or other Indian Languages under Part-I and are awarded degree with English and M ain subjects concerned need to be considered

for admission to B.Ed subject to the condition that they have to qualify for Tamil Language Test conducted by the TNPSC for the purpose of employment.

viii) Candidates with the following marks in the Bachelor’s Degree are eligible for admission to the course other than Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology,

Philosophy, Logic and Indian Culture subjects for which PG qualification is mandatory.

COMMUNITY/CATEGORY MINIMUM MARKS

OC 50% BC 45% M BC/DNC 43% SC 40% Note: (a) M arks obtained by the candidates in the U.G. Degree Course Part III/IV M ajor and Allied including Practical (other than subjects Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science,

Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic and Indian Culture) alone shall be taken into account to arrive at the percentage of marks mentioned above.

a) (i) Marks obtained by the candidates in UG Degree under part IV Elective / Allied / Extra Disciplinary Subjects shall also be taken into account to arrive at the percentage of marks mentioned

above. M arks obtained under Part V subjects shall not be taken into account to arrive percentage of marks

b) M arks obtained by the candidates in P.G. Degree ( other than Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic and Indian Culture ) shall not

be considered for admission.

c) To arrive at above percentage of marks, the marks obtained by the candidates in

M ajor/Ancillary/Allied/Extra Disciplinary Subjects (Part III & IV) including practicals alone shall be taken into account.

d) Rounding of marks to the next higher Integer shall not be permitted.

e) The candidates who have qualified for Bachelor’s Degree under Open University System after passing 10th std. and +2 examinations shall alone be considered for admission to B.Ed Degree

Course.

f) The Candidates who have qualified for Bachelor’s Degree under Open University System without

passing 10th and +2 examinations and subsequently passing 10th and +2 examinations are not eligible for admission to B.Ed Degree Course.(IX) Candidates who have passed P.G. Degree in Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic and Indian

Culture without undergoing 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern of education shall not be considered for admission. (X) In the case of Physically and Visually challenged candidates, a minimum pass in the

Degree is enough However, the basis of selection shall be in accordance with the Regulations of the University / Government of Tamil Nadu Guidelines for admission to B.Ed. Course in force from time to time.

III 1. Registration of seats for candidates belonging to BC, M BC/DNC, SC and ST communities will be made as per the rules and regulations of the Government. i.e

i) In the 18% for Scheduled Castes (S.C.). 3% of seats will be offered to Arunthathiyars (within the seats for S.C.).

ii) Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) - 1%

iii) M ost Backward Classes ( M BC ) and Denotified Communities (DNC) – 20%

iv) Backward Classes (BC) -30%, within this 3.5% for M uslims and v) Open Competition (OC) – 31% 2. Admission into every College of Education shall be made strictly by following the rule of

reservation as per law in force including theM anagement quota seats of Non - M inority Aided Colleges.

3. For the wards of Ex-Servicemen of Tamil Nadu origin, one seat will be reserved in each College of

Education. 4. 3% of the sanctioned strength will be reserved for physically and Visually Challenged students in

each College of Education. 5 seats are exclusively allotted for Visually Challenged candidates in two IASEs and five Government Colleges of Education.

IV S election and Admission Procedure under S ingle Window System a) Allocation of seats in the Colleges of Education.

Seats in the Colleges of Education are grouped into the following categories.

i) Seats in Government Colleges of Education ( 100% of seats Government quota)

ii) Seats in Government Aided Colleges of Education (50% of seats in Aided minority Colleges and 90% of seats in non-minority Aided Colleges as Government quota).

b) Method of Application i) Accurate information about the percentage of marks is essential. The candidate is totally

responsible for any incorrect information and incorrect percentage of marks.

ii) Candidates are advised to take a Xerox copy of the coding sheet and f ill up all the information

correctly before filling the original coding sheet.

iii) A candidate needs to submit only one application for B.Ed., Course seeking admission to Government, Government Aided Colleges of Education. The cost of application is Rs. 300/- In the case of SC/ST candidates the cost of application is Rs. 175/- on production of attested Xerox copy of

the Community Certificate. The cost of application must be paid either in cash or in the form of Demand Draft drawn from any Nationalised Bank / Scheduled Bank in favour of “The Secretary,

Tamil Nadu B.Ed. Admission, Chennai”, payable at Chennai. c) Last Date.

1. i) Last date for receiving the filled-in application in person or by post will be notified in the advertisement.

ii) Application not received on or before the due date, not in the prescribed form, not correctly filled up or do not otherwise fulfill the terms of the instructions will be considered defective and are liable

for rejection without notice. The candidates alone is responsible for any delay in receipt of application

sent by post. No correspondence will be entertained in this respect.

iii) Candidates will have to produce all the Original Certificates at the time of counselling for

verification and admission or at any other time as required by the authorities. Selection will not be made if they do not produce the relevant documents at the time of counselling for verification.

2. i) The Candidates belonging to Tamilnadu only will be considered for communal reservation. Candidates seeking admission against SC,SC Arunthathiyars ST/MBC/DNC/BC M uslim, BC others

quota should obtain the Certificate of Social Status in the prescribed permanent Community

Certificate / Card of Tamilnadu and that should be produced at the time of Counselling.

ii) The ST candidates should obtain the Community Certificate only from the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) of their native place or Collector of their District.

3. Candidates have to send the filled in applications (coding sheet) along with the community certificate as ‘loose sheet’ to “The Secretary, Tamilnadu B.Ed Admissions, Lady Willingdon Institute

of Advance Study in Education, Chennai – 600 005”

d) S election and Counselling

1. The Selection of candidates will be on the basis of the marks secured in the qualifying UG/PG Degree examination.

2. i) Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of their rank. Based on the rank and communal reservations, allotment will be made to the college and optional subjects that are available

in the respective college at the time of counselling. Candidates other than SC/ST have to submit a Demand Draft for Rs. 2000/- and Rs. 1000/- in case of Tamilnadu SC/ST candidates as “Initial

Payment” drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Tamil Nadu B.Ed. Admission, Chennai”, at the time of

counselling. Candidatesshould submit all or iginal certificates when they come for counselling.

ii) Once the candidate is allotted a seat, the amount of Rs. 2000/- for other communities and Rs. 1000/- in case of SC/ST in ( Tamilnadu) already paid at the time of Counselling will be adjusted towards the tuition fees that has to be paid to the respective allotted college.

3. i) The date, time and venue of the counseling will be intimated to the individual candidates by post

and through the press / media. No request for change of date/time of counselling is permissible. ii) Candidate will not be considered for selection if he/she fails to (i) report at the specified time and

date for counselling, (ii) bring all the certificates in original.

iii) The candidates have to join the colleges to which they are allotted within the time notified in the Admission order, failing which, the seats will bedeemed to have fallen vacant. No request for reconsideration of admission thereafter shall be entertained.

4. The provisionally selected candidates in the counselling will be directed to report for admission to the institution specified in the admission order.Candidate has to report within the specified date with

all the certificates inoriginal and must be ready to remit the fees as directed in the allotted college.

5. The provisional selection of the candidate will be cancelled, if he/she fails to i) report within the

specified time limit at the allotted college, ii) produce original certificates, iii) remit the fees required to be paid at the college and such allotted seat will be filled by other candidates as per ranking list.

V. Rank Listing. 1. i) The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in major and allied subjects (both in Theory

and Practical) in all three years in the UG degree will be taken as the base mark for ranking.

ii) Candidates who have taken more than one main subject in Part III (under Double/Triple Major

System) of U.G. Degree course should have to choose only one of the main subjects and should have applied for that optional only. In such cases, marks obtained by the candidates in Two/Three major

subjects shall be taken into account to arrive percentage of marks as stipulated in item II (viii).

iii) Candidates who have qualified in P.G. Degree (5 year Integrated Course) under 10+2+5 or

11+1+5 pattern of study shall be considered for admission. In such cases, the marks obtained by the

candidates in the first three years (in major and ancillary or allied subjects alone) of the course alone shall be taken into account for admission to the B.Ed. Degree Course.

iv) In case of determination of inter-se-merit of candidates with the same marks in the ranking, final

ranking of candidates will be declared from the following in the order of merit.

a. M arks scored by the candidate in the M ajor subjects. b. M arks scored in Allied -1 Subject

c. M arks scored in Allied-II Subject d. By random method

2. i) Weightage for the highest qualification of the candidate will be given as follows and added to the base mark for the Ranking. However minimum mark mentioned in thePara II

(viii) is mandatory. Candidates with PG - 4 M arks , Candidates with M.Phil - 5 Marks Candidates with Ph.D. - 6 M arks

ii) The higher qualif ication for which weightage will be given should be in the same subject studied as the main subject in part III of the UG degree and preferred as optional subject in B.Ed. course.

iii) Weightage of 3 (three) marks for participation in any one of the following co-curricular activities will be added:

iv) NSS certificate (with two years enrolment in N.S.S. and ten days participation in the Special Camp at College level alone will be considered).

a) N.C.C (B or C Certificate at college level). b) Sports (should have represented the college at state /National Level).

VI Important Instructions

All the entries in the application form and coding sheet should be written legibly by the candidate. The candidate should ensure that all information including the marks in the qualifying examination furnished by him/her in the application form and the coding sheet are correct. Any incorrect details furnished in the application form and coding sheet will result in the candidate’s selection being

2. History of the college

Our college was established in the year 2007 under Smt.Gandhimathi Educational

Trust. It is first started with the Diploma in Teacher Education and later on with 100 students

intake we have started the B.Ed programme.

Four batches were sent out successfully with their B.ed Degree. We work with motto,

vision, mission and objectives in order to promote good education, Social values and moral

ethics so as to build a bright future.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. A student admitted to Arunai college of Education must maintain an ethos of commitment

to a professional programme. He/She is expected to aim at the highest achievement in every

sphere and to conduct himself/herself in a responsible and dignified manner wherever he/she may be.

2.

i. According to the TNTE University regulations the trainees must attend 85% of all theory classes. Arunai College of Education expects them to attend all classes. The

trainees must attend all demonstration and pre teaching classes during the course as well as his/her Scheduled Practice Teaching classes during October-December

Practice Teaching period. The trainee is expected to teach in any Government school assigned by Chief Education officer of School Education Department, Government of Tamil Nadu with consent of college authorities.

ii. A trainee must also attend all college functions and activities such as cultural functions, seminars, symposia, debates, quizzes, essay competitions, sports, picnic,

community services, exposure programmes, retreat, mentoring, educational tour,

Inter-religious celebration etc… iii. Prior permission is required from the Principal for any absence either from theory or

practical classes or community life activities.

iv. It goes without saying that no outside commitment should be undertaken during the

regular timings of the college classes and activities.

v. The student’s name is liable to be dropped from the rolls, if he/she is absent continuously for more than 10 days without leave. A re-admission fee will be charged, if re-admission is granted at all.

vi. All are expected to attend all classes on the closing day before and opening day after each of the vacations and short breaks. Those absent without prior leave will be fined.

3. The college has a well-maintained computerized library of over 7506 books and periodicals.

Every student is expected to make the best use of it making sure, however, to observe the library rules fully.

4. Every student is expected to take the Preliminary Computer course that is offered at the college.

5. Additional courses like spoken English will be offered. Though these are not compulsory, the

trainees are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity. 6. There will be Three will be model semester examinations and ten unit test are conducted. Trainees must sit for all of them. The average of all will be taken for the internal assessment.

Prohibited Activities

Violent and ill –mannered behavior, damaging property , malpractices of any kind.

Disciplinary Action:

Like dismissal and suspension, termination etc. will be taken against prohibited activities.

Examination systems

� Every day test will be conducted in every subject

� Every month last week would be the monthly test

� Every term, unit tests would be conducted

� No re- test would be conducted for absentees and failures

� Periodic feed back would be given to the students

College Regulations

� Calendar will be provided for every students to bring daily to college

� The hours of attendance are from 9.00 am to 12.40 pm and 1.30 pm to 4.30pm is must.

� Irregular attendance persistent idleners, mis-behaviour in or out of college are sufficient

reasons for the dismissal of the students.

� College uniform on all working days is compulsory

� Girls putup top knot, less noise producing anklets,no high heels chapels

� Boys with full hand shirts, tuck in pants with shoes/ sandals are must

� During break time ,no student should sit / remain in the class rooms

� Students should be in time before the break bell and lunch bell
