Data ProcessingDe-clouding Sea Surface Temperatures
SST is examined on a per-pixel basis to determine if cloud contamination ispresent. A series of 3 tests are performed and a mask value is assignedto each pixel denoting the results.
Test 1: SST fails time test if > 2degC cooler than previous 72-hours meanTest 2: SST fails climatology if > 5degC colder than climatologyTest 3: SST is sequentially run through time and climatology tests; neighboring
pixels within 3km will also fail if test is not passed
Mask Values (can be additive):0: Most rigorous, pixel passes all tests
1: Pixel failed the time test2: Pixel failed the climatology test4: Pixel failed combined testing
Suitable data is selected based on the desired mask value.

Aqua MODIS Absorption and Backscatter
Absorption and backscatter is produced at five wavelengths: 412, 443, 488, 531 and 551.
Absorption at 488 Backscatter at 488
Aqua MODIS Absorption
Phytoplankton Absorption at 443 Detritus Absorption at 443
Phytoplankton Absorption is produced at 443, Detritus at wavelengths 412 and 443
