Abbe. 26, of New York City, escaped serious injury in nnraeulous fiishion early Tues- day morrting on Reed's Hill,Trv- ington, at South Broadway and Harriman Road. Abbe, driver of a Central Freight Lines truck, was going north when his left front wheel brake locked as the truck was de- scending the steep, curved grade. Unable to control the machinę, Abbe huiig on desperately as the truck swerved to the left side of the road and crashed into a West- chester Lighting Company pole. The pole split in two and the truck continued against the fence at Memoriał Park. A shoulder of earth on the street side of the park fence halted the truck and pre- ,vented it trom tumbling down a 2 5-foot ravine.
