Red   Sweater   Project   collaborates   with  developing  communities  to  create  affordable,  accessible   and   advanced   educational  opportunities  for  children  in  rural  Tanzania.    

Red   Sweater   Project   believes   that   true,  sustained   development   is   inspired   through  collaboration   and   education   -­‐   the   keys   to  breaking   the   cycle   of   aid   dependency,   and  instead   generates   homegrown,   innovative  solutions.   Progress   is   sustained   through  partnerships   that   leverage   individual   skills  and   technologies   toward   economic  advancement,   ecological   sustainability,   and  improvement  in  health  and  quality  of  life.    

Red  Sweater  Project’s  Founder  and  Executive  Director,   Ashley   Holmer,   has   dedicated   her  career  to  building  schools  for  children  in  rural  Tanzania.   Fluent   in   the   local   language   of  Swahili,   Ms.   Holmer   has   been   living   and  working   amongst   the   tribespeople   of   East  Africa   for   the  past   10   years.  By   age  27,   she  built   her   first   secondary   school   in   Lashaine  Village,  which  provides  education  to  over  220  students  each  year  who  otherwise  would  not  be  in  class.    

In   2012,   Red   Sweater   Project   opened  Mungere   Secondary   School,   the   first   of   its  kind   in   the   village,   and   currently   enrolls   90  and  will  grow  to  a  student  body  of  300.
