technique help us to predict the failure and take the corrective action
to prevent breakdown of equipment.
It is classified as 5 parts, they are Amplitude, Frequency, Phase,
Direction & Speed. The amplitude have Displacement - It is a
measure of the actual distance an object is moving from a reference
point, Velocity - The rate of change in position, Acceleration- rate
of change of velocity.
For low speed machines displacement is important along with
velocity, for medium speed machines velocity is important along with
displacement & for high speed machines acceleration is important
along with velocity and displacement. The vibration are measured
in Horizontal, vertical and Axial directions. Frequency is number
cycles completed per unit time. It is further classified as low,
medium, high. The frequency helps to identify the problem since each
and every problem occurs at different frequencies.
Phase is the time relationship measured in degree, between vibration
of same frequency. The angular reference at a instance in time of
a moving part to a fixed point. Phase act as confirmatory tool for
diagnosing a problem. With the help of above mentioned parameter
Diagnosis of equipments are carried out.
