-3-— *.. - *.** . M
A total of l ,676 feet of diamond drilling was completed by the
Sutherland interests during 1958. An intersection of 1*84^
molybdenite over 2*0 feet was obtained in one of the drill hole*
^ The claims were subsequently allowed to lapse and
eventually were staked by the writer for the Mo&anaao and Varbo}
companies.
Geology of the Properties;
She claims are underlain by a highly metamorphosed
sedimentary series consisting of arkose, quartzite and argil i
The arkosic beds have been highly granitized while the argili
beds have been well chloritiaod. The quartzite beds have
remained relatively unaltered, r;ill8 and dykes of younger
diorite and gabbro intrude the sediments.
i'ho sediments strike east-woet and have stoep dips
usually close to vertical, strong north-south faulting uao
occurred on the ground es horiaontai displacements of anomalies
of up to 1,000 feet have been found.
In sawe ^reuo the quartzite has been fractured and
partly replaced by sulphides. 2he sulphidos are mostly pyrite
and pyrrhotite, however, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and molybdenit
"re also present in varying amounts.
Self Potential Purvey;
A self potential survey was carried out on some of
the claims during the poriod rrom June lOth. to .lugust iGth. 196
The purpose of the survey was to locate and traoe zones of
sulphide mineralization on the properties.
A Sharpe V.P.-6 Ground Voltameter *as used and natural
ground voltages were measured over intervals of 50 feet. An
east-west "base 3 ina was run through tho oonter of the ol aim
groups and north-south ore's lines were out every 200 feet.
The cross lines were extended for a distance of 1,350 feet on
eaoh side of the base line. Readings wore normally token at
130 foot Intervals, and in anomalous areas at 25 foot intervals.
The survey was suooossful in ouf ining a series of
strong east-west trending anomalies at intervals across the
properties. - ubsoquent diamond driving has chown that these
anomalies are usually due to the presence of heavy to massive
sulphides within the ..junrtsite horizon.
