Festive Decorations Notes

Installation of features

a) All illuminated features are to be installed at a minimum height of 3.5mtrs

(unless notified otherwise by the Engineer) from ground level to the base of

the feature over pedestrian footways and pedestrian areas and 5.8mtrs for

cross-road features or where 0.5mtr set back from kerb cannot be achieved.

b) The features are to be supported by a minimum of two fixings. It is the

Contractors responsibility to ensure that the fixings are appropriate to

support the feature and that no damage is caused to the column or post.

Any damage caused (including protective finishes) must be rectified by

Contractor at his own cost and before the defect date as stated in the

Contract.

Period of Operation

a) Charles Endirect Festive Cut Out (Ref SP2L4/OLDHAM 2) Electronic time-switches

and Tofco Festive Cut Out (Ref Type 1 / Festive Cut Out) are installed in the

columns & Feeder Pillars. The Contractor shall include for the installation and

setting of all time switches. New time switches may require a 230v 50Hz supply for

approximately 48hrs to become fully charged.

b) Period of operation 16:00hrs to Midnight seven days a week (TBC by the engineer)

13. Electrical Supplies

a) Illuminated features mounted on lighting columns are supplied from a

secondary cut-out Charles Endirect / Tofco festive Cut out incorporating a DP

isolator, RCBO & time-clock by means of a 16/32amp 3pin Commando socket

outlet attached to the column shaft.

b) Across road Illuminated features attached to buildings are supplied from

dedicated feeder pillars via a DP isolator & time-clock.

c) Christmas Trees furnished with LED P Lights are supplied from dedicated feeder

pillars incorporating a DP isolator, RCBO, time-clock and transformer the outgoing

steel wire armoured cable is ducted to the base of the tree and terminated into a

tree socket. The Contractor must allow for electrical test and inspection of any

feeder pillar in accordance with BS7671 and all other relevant legislation and codes

of practice.

14. Connections and Wiring

a) All connections and wiring are to be carried out in accordance with BS 7671

Regulations for Electrical Installations, ILP Code of Practice for Electrical Safety in

Highway Electrical Operations and the County Surveyor's Society Code of Practice

for the installation, operation and removal of seasonal decorations. All connections

are to be sufficient to prevent the ingress of water.

Specification of the Contract.

illuminated feature mounted as per notes.

Live tree furnished with all year round lights.

having 100mm diameter ducting to tree pit. (Electrical
