NOTES OF THE WEEK1. Reading went 2-0-1-0 this past week to complete the regular season on a season-long six game unbeaten streak (5-0-1-0). In the twelve games sinceMarch 12, the Royals have gone 9-2-1-0.

2. The Royals went 10-4-1-ϬŝŶƚŚĞĮ ŌĞĞŶŐĂŵĞƐƉůĂLJĞĚŝŶD ĂƌĐŚ dŚŝƐŵĂƌŬƐƚŚĞĮ ƌƐƚƟŵĞŝŶƚŚĞĞůĞǀ ĞŶLJĞĂƌŚŝƐƚŽƌLJŽĨƚŚĞZŽyals (and seventy-four sepa-rate months in which the team has played in the ECHL) that the team ever won ten games in a single month.

ϯ /ŶƚŚĞĮ ŶĂůĮ ŌLJŐĂŵĞƐŽĨƚŚĞƌĞŐƵůĂƌƐĞĂƐŽŶ dŚĞZŽLJĂůƐĐŽŵƉŝůĞĚĂƌĞĐŽƌĚŽĨϮϵ-17-2-2, which translates into a win percentage of .620.

5. Reading earned a playoff berth with 80 points in the standings (36-28-4-ϰсϴϬͿ/ƚŝƐƚŚĞƐĞĐŽŶĚƟŵĞŝŶƚĞĂŵŚŝƐƚŽƌLJƚŚĂƚƚŚĞ team has qualified for the playoffs with 80 points. (In 2010, the team went 37-29-6=80). The Royals have never gained a playoff spot with less than 80 points.

6. The Royals won both home games played this past week, extending the team’s home win streak to a season-long four games. 9. The Royals 3-0 win over the Wheeling Nailers last Wednesday marked the fourth shutout of the season for Reading. That is the third most shutouts inteam history. (The 2004-ϬϱƚĞĂŵŚĂĚĞŝŐŚƚ ĂŶĚůĂƐƚƐĞĂƐŽŶ ƚŚĞZŽLJĂůƐďůĂŶŬĞĚƚŚĞŽƉƉŽƐŝƟŽŶĮ ǀ ĞƟŵĞƐ Ϳ

ϭϬD ĂƌŬK ǁ ƵLJĂŵĂĚĮ ŌLJ-five saves to register his second shutout in a span of three games last Wednesday. That is the most saves ever made in a shutout ƉĞƌĨŽƌŵĂŶĐĞďLJƚŚĞZŽLJĂůƐŐŽĂůƚĞŶĚĞƌ;dŚĞƉƌĞǀ ŝŽƵƐƌĞĐŽƌĚǁ ĂƐƐĞƚďLJD ĂƩ ĂůƚŽŶ ǁ ŚŽŵĂĚĞĨŽƌƚLJ-eight saves in the ‘shutout-shootout’ game against theWheeling Nailers last season—on February 18, 2011. 12. The Royals gave up 2735 shots against this year (average of 37.99 shots per game against), which is more shots than the team has ever faced in the elev-en year history of the team. Reading generated 2038 shots on the opponent’s goals this year, which is fewer shots than the Royals have ever had in teamhistory. The minus-727 (-ϳ Ϯϳ ͿƐŚŽƚĚŝī ĞƌĞŶƟĂůĨŽƌƚŚĞZŽLJĂůƐƚŚŝƐƐĞĂƐŽŶ—is the greatest gap in shots-for and shots-against ever experienced by the team.

1. The OTL to the Jackals on Friday night snapped a string of five straight games ƚŚĂƚǁ ĞƌĞƌĞƐŽůǀ ĞĚŝŶŽǀ ĞƌƟŵĞƚŚĂƚǁ ĞŶƚĨĂǀ ŽƌĂďůLJƚŽƚŚĞZŽLJĂůƐ

2.^Ğǀ ĞŶŽĨƚŚĞZŽLJĂůƐƐĞǀ ĞŶƚĞĞŶƟĞƐƚŚŝƐƐĞĂƐŽŶǁ ĞƌĞĂŐĂŝŶƐƚƚŚĞ:ĂĐŬĂůƐ The Royals went 2-5 in those games (2-ϮŝŶŽǀ ĞƌƟŵĞĂŶĚϬ-3 in theshootout). Ten of the sixteen games played between Reading and Elmirawere decided by one goal. The Royals went 3-2-2-3 in those games.

3. In the sixteen games played between the Royals and Jackals, the Royalscompiled a record of 5-6-2-3. Elmira is one of four teams (out of eleven differ-ent clubs played) against whom Reading had a losing record. The others werethe Chicago Express (1-3-0-0), the Florida Everblades (2-4-0-0) and the SouthĂƌŽůŝŶĂ ƟŶŐƌĂLJƐ;Ϭ-3-1-0).

4. The OTL in Elmira on Friday ran the Royals record to 11-2-2-1 in the sixteengames played on the road on Friday this season. Overall, the Royals went 16-5-2-1 on Fridays—which was the best day of the week for Reading.

5. The Royals held a 2-ϬůĞĂĚϭϬϰϬŝŶƚŽƚŚĞĮ ƌƐƚƉĞƌŝŽĚŝŶ&ƌŝĚĂLJƐŽǀ ĞƌƟŵĞůŽƐƐin Elmira. That marked the twenty-ƐĞĐŽŶĚƟŵĞƚŚĂƚƚŚĞZŽLJĂůƐŚĞůĚĂůĞĂĚwithin a game and did not register the win (0-14-4-4), establishing a team rec-ord in that regard. This game also marked the tenth game this year that theRoyals ‘blew’ a two-goal lead (and in one of those games, the team held twoseparate two-goal leads).

6. Nine of the Royals’ twenty-two blown lead games were against the Jackals (0-4-2-3). Reading was unable to hold two-goal leads in seven of those games.

7. Overall, Reading compiled a record of 23-13-3-ϯĂŐĂŝŶƐƚƚŚĞƚůĂŶƟĐŝǀ ŝƐŝŽŶ 5-6-0-1 against teams from the North Division; and 8-9-1-0 against the South.

4. Yannick Tifu ended the regular season riding an eight game point streak (5g-6a=11pts). Tifu’s two-point game (1g-1a) in Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Wheel-ing was his third straight two-ƉŽŝŶƚŐĂŵĞĂŶĚŚŝƐƚĞĂŵůĞĂĚŝŶŐƐĞǀ ĞŶƚĞĞŶƚŚŵƵůƟ-ƉŽŝŶƚƉĞƌĨŽƌŵĂŶĐĞŝŶĮ ŌLJ-two games as a Royal.
