Message from our Principal…. Hi Larkin Royal Family, Season Greetings from all of our teachers and staff. We know this time is an exciting time of the year, but it can be a stressful time for many of our parents. This time is especially difficult for our students as the semester is coming to an end and we are at the midpoint of the school year. Gradua- tion and class promotion is becoming a reality and our students sometimes are distracted by the coming events and forget about the task at hand of their coursework. Be watchful of your student’s behavior and changes in temperament and feel free to reach out to your student counselor or Dean, as we are here to support all our students during this season. We are looking forward to finishing up the semester strong and having a great holi- day season. We are excited to be offering an SAT Prep class for our juniors this year. At this time, we are extending the registration until Tuesday, December 13th. We have a few spots remaining. Please encourage your child to see Mrs. Walker in the Career Center to sign up for this opportunity! I hope everyone takes a moment to reflect on 2017 as the year comes to an end and set new, exciting goals for 2018! Thanks, Principal Crosen

Royal Gems and Jewels of Information:

~ 2018 Graduates ~

By now you should have checked your name on the list posted outside the

Guidance Office. If you want a change, you need to complete a Diploma In-

formation Form and turn it into the Main Office. Otherwise, your name will

appear on your diploma as it appears in Infinite Campus.

**************************************************************

Your name does not mean you are graduating automatically. Graduation is

only permitted for students who completed all requirements for graduation

as set forth by the School District U-46 Board of Education.

**************************************************************

A mandatory Senior meeting will be held on Friday, December 15th during

3rd period in the Auditorium. This is an informative meeting. You will order

your cap and gown at this time and receive important information about

Graduation. Herff Jones will be in the Commons on Dec. 20 & 21st.

Royals,

Our Boys Basketball game vs. Elgin on 12/5 is the WCIU "Game of the Week." As part of the coverage, WCIU fea-

tured Larkin High School on their new morning show, "The Jam."

This was a great chance to get some free, positive publicity for our student-athletes, our school, and our athletic

program. What an exciting opportunity we have to showcase our LHS Royal students!

We packed the gym Tuesday morning for two live segments between 6:20 and 7:20 AM.

Parents, Please take a few minutes to complete an online survey (beginning Dec. 5th) regarding

your child(ren)’s educational opportunities at Larkin. This survey provides a comprehensive pic-

ture of a school’s organizational culture in an individualized report measuring five “essentials”

critical for school success: Effective Leaders, Collaborative Teachers, Involved Families, Sup-

portive Environment, and Ambitious Instruction are target areas. The survey provides a unique

opportunity for students, teachers and parents to have a voice in improving their schools. The

website to complete the survey is: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ A

Spanish version will be available on paper at a later date.

mitted as soon as possible to participate! See Flyer at the end

of the newsletter for more specific details!

Here’s to a healthy December!!

Your decision to get the flu shot or not goes well beyond you. It also affects the many lives you touch…Flu

symptoms may include fever, headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, and

muscle aches. The best way to protect your family from new influenza strains is to get vaccinated each year.

The top five most virus-contaminated areas in the home are:

1. Telephones (have you cleaned your cell phone lately)

2. Appliances such as the refrigerator and microwave

3. Faucets

4. Light switch and door handles

5. TV remotes

Do I have a cold or the Flu? If your child has a fever with the associated flu symp-toms, please call your child in on the At-tendance Line and report as flu symp-toms. They must be fever free for 24 hr, without medication, to return to school.
