THE LONGEST ROVING FRAME FOR MAXIMUM PRODUCTIVITY The productivity of the machine increases with the number of spindles. The F 15 and F 35 roving frames are designed for up to 160 spinning positions at a spindle gauge of 110 mm.

DRIVE SYSTEM FOR HIGH OUTPUT AND REDUCED MAINTENANCE The proven multi-motor drive system has been optimized further. The diff erential gear has been eliminated. Spindles and fl yers are driven directly by individual servomotors. The control system ensures synchronized running throughout package buildup. The main features are reduced maintenance, lower energy consumption and speeds of up to 1 500 rpm (mechanical). The drives are controlled by frequency converters and thus especially gentle in their treatment of the material. Controlled machine stop is assured in the event of power failure.

IMPROVED RUNNING BEHAVIOR WITH INDIVIDUAL ROVING MONITOR It is advisable to equip the roving frame with the ROJ individual roving monitor (optional), especially in the case of manmade fi bers, blends, dark-colored raw material and long machines. Its main features are:

no incorrect stoppages due to fi ber fl y individual, automatic control and logging of roving ends down prevention of lap formation statistical analysis for systematic improvement of running behavior

This results in a considerable increase in roving frame effi ciency.

ONE SYSTEM – 4 MODELS With the launch of the new generation of roving frames the range has been expanded to 4 models: the F 15 model with manual doff er and the F 35 with fully automated doff er. Both models are available with gauges of 110 mm and 130 mm. With gauge 110 mm maximum number of spindles is 160; bobbin size is 6x16“. With gauge 130 mm maximum number of spindles is 144, bobbin size 6x16“ and 7x16“. Note that a machine with 160 spindles at 110 mm gauge is shorter than a machine with 144 spindles and 130 mm gauge. This opens up interesting possibilities with regard to layout and fl exibility.

SIMPLE, SELF-EXPLANATORY OPERATOR INTERFACE All machines are equipped with touchscreen. All important working parameters are entered directly at the control panel. Graphic displays facilitate operation at input and during the production process. The control system enables 20 diff erent settings to be stored and available at any time. This is very effi cient, especially when batch changes are frequent, makes a major contribution to quality consistency and considerably simplifi es the operator‘s work.

F 15 – MANUAL DOFFING WITH DOFFING AID Manual doffi ng is facilitated by a doffi ng aid. For this purpose the bobbin rail with the full roving bobbins is lowered and tilted. This enables to bobbins be removed easily.

SPECIFYING THE ROVING END The F 15 roving frame is supplied with the „roving end in the middle of the roving bobbin“ function as standard equipment. On request, the roving end can also be specifi ed as top bunch. Top bunch is ideal for combining the manual roving frame with semi-automated roving bobbin transport systems.

Specifying the roving end

In this case the roving bobbins are transferred manually to the transport system, thus handling the material especially gently. The end of the roving is fi xed in position by the top bunch and cannot detach itself spontaneously.

DOFFING TIME OF LESS THAN 2 MINUTES WITH THE FULLY AUTOMATED F 35 ROVING FRAMEThe doffi ng time of the fully automated F 35 roving frame has been signifi cantly reduced. Separate actuation of bobbin rail and doff er rail is the basis for the shortest doffi ng time compared with other products. Both processes are controlled by frequency converters and can therefore be performed synchronously and independently of each other. While the bobbin rail with the full bobbins is lowered and placed on the slide, the doff er rail leaves its idle position and is lowered slowly. The slide with the bobbin rail moves forward out of the machine.

F 35 – Shortest doffi ng time PRODUCTIVITY, ECONOMY

Fig. 1 Bobbin rail moves out, doff er rail with empty tubes is lowered

Fig. 2 Removal of full bobbins. Doff er rail with bob-bins and tubes is raised; shifting, lowering and creeling of the empty tubes

The ability to control the sequences of motion separately enables the doffi ng process to be shortened considerably and doffi ng times of less than 2 minutes are realistic. Doffi ng time is independent of machine length, i.e. minimum doffi ng times are also applicable to long machines. The operation of the doff er is also assured during maintenance and other transport system downtimes. The doff er rail with the full bobbins can be lowered to a convenient working height so that the bobbins can be removed manually.

Rieter off ers two very effi cient solutions with the doffi ng aid on the F 15 roving frame and especially the fully automated F 35 roving frame.

HIGH QUALITY STANDARDS ARE MAINTAINED WITH THE NEW ROVING FRAME MODELS The pneumatically loaded drafting system is an important technological component. Constant pressure, monitored by a sensor, ensures maximum roving uniformity along the entire length of the machine. Pressure is centrally adjustable and infi nitely variable. Automatic relief of loading on the guide arms is also centralized. This prevents permanent deformation of the top rollers. The machine is designed with a 3-over-3 cylinder drafting system as standard equipment. A 4-over-4 cylinder drafting system can also be supplied on request. Three diff erent cradle lengths are available for diff erent raw materials or blends. Rieter provides advice on selection and makes technological recommendations depending on raw material and staple length. The same delivery angle for front and rear spinning position ensures identical spinning conditions along the entire length of the machine.

UNIFORMITY THROUGH ROVING TENSION CONTROL Roving tension is monitored and controlled without contact. The proven ROJ system is used for this purpose. Roving tension is controlled and kept constant throughout bobbin buildup by means of two sensors and a microprocessor. This ensures high yarn uniformity and prevents prevents false drafting.

OPEN, OPERATOR-FRIENDLY DESIGNThe accessibility and operator-friendliness of the spinning positions have been improved considerably. Visible evidence of this – besides the new styling – is the machine‘s ergonomically well-conceived design. The structural redesign of the F 35 doff er model has enabled the front of the machine to be given a more open confi guration. As a result, only two supports are now necessary along the entire length of the machine.

GENTLE INFEED SLIVER GUIDANCE The slivers are drawn out of the cans by hexagonal rollers with geared drives and fed to the drafting systems. This prevents drafting errors. Four or fi ve sets of rollers are specifi ed for the creel, depending on can diameter and spindle gauge. Drawing-in of the slivers is monitored along the entire length of the feed zone – by one light barrier on the creel in the case of 4 sets of rollers, and by two light barriers in the case of 5 sets of rollers. As soon as a can is empty or a sliver breaks, the light barrier responds and the machine stops.

Ergonomic designFURTHER ARGUMENTS

Open confi guration of the F 35 doff er model for unrestricted access to the spinning positions

Gentle, reliable sliver guidance Ridged clearer rollers

Guide elements on the creel provide optimum guidance for each individual sliver. This ensures that the slivers do not touch or cross each other. Splitting, damage or increased hairiness of the sliver are thus prevented.

CLEANLINESS IN THE DRAFTING ZONE Technically perfected solutions keep the drafting system and the roving delivery zone clean. Good quality and superior running behavior are guaranteed. Ridged clearer rollers or a clearer with cleaning cloth can be chosen for cleaning the top rollers. The combination of ridged clearer rollers with the ROJ individual roving monitor is recommended for minimum cleaning eff ort and superior running behavior. The machine is equipped with fi xed strippers for clearing the bottom feed and delivery rollers. A suction nozzle is positioned under the drafting system delivery at each spinning position for extraction in the delivery zone. The fi lter box is located at the end of the machine and cleaned manually or automatically via a central suction system.

HIGHER QUALITY AND LOWER COSTS Roving bobbins are a delicate intermediate product. The outer-most layer of roving is completely unprotected and is thus ex-posed to considerable risk of damage. Furthermore, all defects in the roving are transferred to the yarn and are often also vis-ible in the end product. Ensuring roving quality as such, as well as the calculable labor cost savings, are good reasons for in-vesting in automated transport systems.

HIGHER QUALITY Manual or automated roving bobbin transport systems enhance roving quality by: • eliminating manual bobbin handling, i.e. touching the roving

eliminating intermediate storage, which can result in damage, soiling and aging of the roving eliminating the likelihood of confusion between diff erent roving bobbins ensuring the application of the „fi rst-in, fi rst-out“ principle

LOWER COSTS WITH SERVOtrail Space saving Quality assurance and enhancement Labor savings of up to 25% compared to manual bobbin transport by:

reducing physical eff ortreducing the distances covered by operating personnelimproved access to the machinesimproved industrial health and ergonomics
