Nove Rove 2013 2nd & 3rd November Plans are still the same as advertised in the March issue of our Otago Tribune, and the April issue (I think) for Canterbury. I am pleased with the registrations to date. We have 10 from the Otago Club and 4 from Canterbury Club, so another great weekend is in the making. I know there are others that are talking about coming and I can only urge those people to book their accommodation early and register your intention with me. It will be much easer to cancel later than to find accommodation at last minute. I will be unavailable from mid July till early September, so it would be helpful to have registrations in before I leave. There are some things that I can’t confirm till closer to the weekend, but don't expect any changes. Bernie Halford. e-mail [email protected] phone 03 4876 870.

2013 Rover Car Club of Otago AGM and Dinner See pages 9 and 10 of this newsletter for details on this years AGM. We have a separate room set aside at the venue with plenty of off street parking. Please let Ray Pilley know by the 13th of July if you are going to attend so we can confirm numbers with the Caterers.

Nominations for Club Officers We need nominations for Secretary, Treasurer and Newsletter Editor as John, Bernie and Ray intend to step down from their positions. Please have a think about whether you or another club member would be keen to fill these roles. We have struggled to fill positions in the past so please consider which position you may be able to fill. It’s not hard work and the incumbents will provide any training and support needed to the new position holders. Clubs like ours survive because people volunteer a little of their time each month to help the club. Maybe more than one person can share a position? As the old saying goes. “Many hands make light work”.

Ignition: June 2013.

Hi all, I’m back from my UK trip. While away I visited a number of London tourist spots and caught up with rela-tions. I took photos of all the Rovers I spotted, some I had not seen before. When I left I was dropped off by Norman in his red P6V8. My luggage was checked in all the way to Heathrow. That made travelling a lot easier. 1st flight DUNEDIN – CHRISTCHURCH 1hour. Starting 10:05 then I had a 4hr 50min break. 2nd flight CHRISTCHURCH – SYDNEY 3hrs. Then a short break in the transit lounge. 3rd flight SYDNEY – BANKOK 9hrs. I was able to stay on the plane. 4th flight BANKOK – DUBAI 6hrs. Then a short break in the transit lounge. 5th flight DUBAI – HEATHROW 7hrs 30mins. That makes 26hrs 30mins travelling plus some stop over time arriving at 12:15 UK time on Tues the 14th. I was not able to get much sleep on the way so I was tired on arrival. Lucky for me I had a relation arrive fairly soon after I had passed through cus-toms. Then it was off by tube and later by car to my hotel. THEN SLEEP. I had similar flights on my way back, except direct from DUBAI – SYDNEY. Travelling time was about the same. I’m just about coming right after 3 days. I hope the new venue for the meeting proved successful and soon it will be time for our AGM. I will be standing for President again but understand that Ray, John and Bernie wish to stand down. Please put on your thinking caps and work out who to nominate for their positions. I will make up a series of pages of photo taken for the mag and website. See you at next meeting. Drive safe out there. President Jeff.
