ROV Case Study

Project Background A multi-national oil producer commissioned Proserv to design, manufacture and supply a Subsea Sampling System capable of capturing reservoir fluid samples from subsea manifolds located in water depths of up to 2,500m to support their operations offshore West Africa.

SolutionThe project formally kicked off in March 2013 and a project delivery team was established involving de-sign engineers, project managers, planners, buyers and technicians, who all worked closely to deliver this project to exact design specification.

The ROV operated system (with interfaces as per ISO 13628-8) was designed to meet the following requirements: • 2 x 12 Litre Sample Cylinders • 2 x 12 Litre Slops Cylinders • Max Water depth of 2,500 meters • Fluid connection via flexible jumper with UniTech interface

The system was completed, successfully tested and shipped out to West Africa ready for use only one year later in April 2014.

Summary The Subsea Sampling System is fully compliant with NACE requirements, and meets the high engineering standards set by the American Petroleum Institute. The Proserv Subsea Sampling System successfully completed full and detailed FAT testing at under the careful scrutiny of the oil producer’s QA/QC Inspector.

Representative subsea sampling

Proserv specialises in delivering solutions for ROV and Diver Subsea Sampling Systems, allowing for the capture of samples from the subsea tree, pipeline or manifold.

Based on market-leading sampling technology, our Subsea Sampling Cylinders are designed and qualified specifically for use in the harsh environments experienced subsea.

In addition, the Proserv SSC is certified for shipping, therefore eliminates the risks associated with handling and transferring sample

Operational Benefits Upstream of Manifold• Easier to obtain a chemical free sample • Improved modeling of system dynamics • Removes necessity for production deferment • Nearer to source of fluids without expense of well

intervention • Undiluted, a more representative sample, less

doubt over validity of results • Reduces requirement for back-out calculations,

second-guessing flow rates• Potentially upstream of deposition, therefore

provides a sample in ideal condition

Cleanliness Benefits at Point of Source• Reduces risk of environmental release to sea • Provide reassurance to regulatory of system

condition • Increases confidence in control fluid and umbilical

condition

Wealth creation

• Removes the potential of working on the wrong solution

• Production uptime is sustained for longer, resulting in increased revenue

• Better data, leads to improved reservoir management and production optimisation

Diver Case Study

Project Background A UK independent oil producer commissioned Proserv to design, manufacture and supply a subsea sampling system capable of capturing reservoir fluid samples at temperature from subsea Christmas trees to support their operations.

SolutionThe project formally kicked off in March 2017 and a project delivery team was established involving design engineers, project managers, planners, buyers and technicians, who all worked closely to deliver this project to exact design specification.

The diver operated system was designed to meet the following requirements:

• 2 x 2 Litre Slops Cylinders • 6 x 2 Litre Sample Cylinders • Compact design to interface with Christmas Tree• Water depth of 100 meters and a pressure rating of 1000 psi minimum • Isothermal sampling - circulation of hot water within skid to

reduce risk of wax and hydrate formation

The completed subsea sampling system was fabricated, assembled, tested and shipped from our sampling and injection solutions facility in Aberdeen within 11 days of official call off.

Summary The full sampling process was completed within 24hrs. Subsea verification confirmed estimated sample volumes and allowed the client to sign off prior to equipment removal from subsea. Once the skid was returned to surface the sample cylinders were isolated, removed from the skid and sent to a laboratory for analysis.

to transportation containers, in doing so reducing the risk of containment loss and exposure to H2S / CO2, which can present a danger to people and the environment.

Benefits • Easy to use Diver interface• Variable sample and slops volume capacity • Closed Loop design for zero discharge to sea • Isothermal and Isobaric sampling capabilities• Ability to back flush / chemical injection to clean lines
