Worcestershire/Warwickshire BordersRous Lench Court lies approximately 6 miles to the north of Evesham and 12 miles west of Stratford-upon-Avon in an attractive part of south east Worcestershire, close to the Warwickshire border. Rous Lench village is concentrated around the village green with a fine church and attractive collection of domestic architecture many of which were built by the Rous family and a subsequent owner of Rous Lench court; Dr William Chafy. The Lenches are a group of popular and sought after villages being well located for a number of prime regional centres and offer fast access to Birmingham to the north, Worcester to the west or Cheltenham to the south west.
Shopping facilities are available in Stratford, Worcester, Cheltenham, Malvern or Birmingham with a number of local villages offering day to day needs.
Communications in the area are good with fast links to the M5 (J6) and the rest of the midlands motorway network with the M42, M6, M40 and M50 all within striking distance. Birmingham International Airport is 32 miles away. Mainline railway stations at nearby Evesham and Worcester service London Paddington with Worcester linking the Midlands network.
There is excellent schooling in the general area, with high-achieving state and private schools in Stratford, Worcester, Cheltenham and Malvern.
Rous Lench CourtThe Court sits proudly on an elevated position overlooking the formal gardens and grounds with spectacular far reaching views across the surrounding counties. Constructed of timber with render in-fill on a stone base and is a classic black and white 16th Century property all under a tile roof. The house was remodelled in the 19th Century and reduced in size.
The Rous family, who originally occupied the house, were strong Parliamentarians and it is reputed that Oliver Cromwell dined at Rous Lench Court on the eve of the Battle of Worcester in 1651, where he defeated Charles II.
The gardens and grounds are extremely mature being well laid out and multi-tiered due to the rising ground and slope that the house is set against. The long sweeping carriage driveway is entered through large double electric wrought iron gates with stone piers and the drive cuts through the formal gardens in a horse shoe shape terminating in a gravel turning/parking area to the front of the house. The property is well proportioned with the accommodation arranged over three floors.
Of particular note are the grand entrance halls on both the ground and first floors. The drawing room is well proportioned with a fireplace to one side with an imposing stone mantle and surround housing a log burner. The orangery is very spacious and light and together with the bar expands to a large entertaining area. The house has an incredible array of original period features throughout with exposed timbers, floor to ceiling panelled walls and numerous fireplaces. Fully integrated security and sound system.
