ONE ROTARIAN IMPACTS MANY LIVES

Cliff and Elsje Peake of District 9120 have helped deliver over 12,000 wheelchairs in South Africa. They have partnered with, and hosted, dozens of clubs and districts from around the world.

DISTRICT 5810 PDG Tom Ryan held his District Conference in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in 2006 and called the gathering “Fiesta Servicio.” Working side-by-side with several Mexican clubs, attendees performed eight simultaneous wheelchair distributions. The visiting Texas Rotarians found the stories and experiences of helping people in local villages to be heart warming and very memorable.

ONE WHEELCHAIR IMPACTS MANY LIVES

Rotary Club of Foster City PDG Dr. Jon Grant and his wife Linda have taken club members and their families to Mazatlan, Mexico, for wheelchair distributions for the past ten years. Together with local clubs, Foster City has provided over 3,000 wheelchairs, playground equipment, ambulances and educational supplies.

Wheelchair Foundation President David Behring and other members of District 5160 havetraveledtoMonterrey,Mexico,onfiveoccasions to distribute wheelchairs with 17 clubs from District 4130. The HANDS ON wheelchair projects have proven to be a catalyst for over 15 international service projects involving clean water, computers, health clinics, literacy and feeding the poor, between these “Sister Districts.”

Rotary Club of Pleasanton North, California, led by Past President Bill Wheeler, has sent nearly 6,000 wheelchairs to ten different countries. Club members now travel internationally to participate in the club’s two annual wheelchair distribution trips.
