A reminder to bring your Foundation Money box along to the meeting so Billy can bank the money and send away. Our first meeting back will be a social event at Charmaine and Ken's on Sunday 11 January. They will be sending out more information closer to the event. Following on from that will be the great Aussie breakfast on Australia Day. Can you please let Gloria know as soon as you can if you will be available to assist on the morning? I am aware that some members will be away. Boulder Club is in the same predicament. However, Headspace have very kindly offered to assist so we will still have plenty of helpers on the morning. Our last meeting for 2014 is on Monday night when we will celebrate with our families to thank them for their continued support throughout the year. Without their support we could not do what we do for Rotary.

George and I snuck off to the movies this week and whilst there I had a discussion with Diane the Manager about a Premiere night for The New Marigold Hotel on Wednesday 25 February. Rotary Foundation and 20th Century Fox have teamed up again to do a special POLIO PLUS screening to celebrate the film’s release in cinemas on the following day. Diane is prepared to hold a special screening on the Wednesday night. I did raise this with members a few meetings ago and everyone was keen. I have asked Boulder and Hannans if they would like to join us. So all we need to do is sell tickets.

I wish all members a Very Merry Christmas wherever and however you are planning to celebrate. If you are travelling please drive safely. We are looking forward to seeing you all again in 2015 and doing our best to Light up Rotary.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

As President Esther said in her column, keep an eye open for more details on the local screening of this movie.

If the first movie is anything to go by, this one should be fantastic, with it’s cast of first rate British actors!

Peter Sweeney: Congratulations & Farewell!

At Monday’s meeting Peter Sweeney was presented with his Four-Way Plaque in recognition of his Rotary anniversary which fell on 22 August, while he was on a Leave of Absence.

It was also Peter’s last meeting with us. Peter and Robyn are heading east for new adventures. Thanks for your contribution to the Rotary Club of Kalgoorlie!

Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do

Is it the TRUTH?

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER

FRIENDSHIPS?

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Quote of the Week

“Friendship is a natural and willing

servant….

There is no reason…

why the great power of friendship

should not be harnessed

to do its part in the world’s work.”
