Jammu District beat District Samba by 4 points in the final. District Samba beat District Kathua by 4 points. In Kho- Kho U-17 Girls, District Kathua beat District Samba by 2 points, while in Under-19 girls, Doda District beat District Poonch by 18 points and Rajouri District drubbed District Kathua by 3 points. In all, 212 participants of differ- ent Districts of Jammu Division are taking part in the Championship. The competitions are being held by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of Dr Saleem-Ur- Rehman, Director General, Youth Services and Sports and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director. Chanchal Kour, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Jammu is the Organising Secretary of the Championship. RC Kotwal, SSP Police Headquarters Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, who was welcomed by Chanchal Kour in the inaugural ceremony. Roston Chase defies India as West Indies score 295/7 HYDERABAD, Oct 12: Indian spinners went off the boil in the final session as all- rounder Roston Chase hit a gutsy unbeaten 98 to take the West Indies to a respectable 295 for seven on the opening day of the second Test, here on Friday. Chase, who scored 137 to deny India a victory in a Test match in Jamaica back in 2016, showed the much-needed application with requisite technique as Indian bowlers struggled after polishing off the top half for only 113 runs. Chase, along with skipper Jason Holder (52), did enough to ensure that the West Indies will have a good first innings total to fight against a heavyweight Indian batting line-up. Not being able to dismiss the middle and lower-order was a problem in England and it once again turned out to be the bowl- ing unit's bane as the Chase- Holder duo added 104 runs for the seventh wicket. K Jennitha Anto clinched the gold in women's individual rapid P1 chess event after beating Manurung Roslinda of Indonesia 1-0 in the final round, while Kishan Gangolli got the better of Majid Bagheri in the men's indi- vidual rapid VI - B2/B3 event to claim the top spot. Rapid P1 event is for physi- cally impaired athletes while rapid VI - B2/B3 event features partially blind competitors. Athletes in this class have impairment in one or both lower limbs and poor walking/running balance but they play in standing positions. "I work as a coach in the Gujarat's Sports Authority of India. My target is Paralympics. I will play in the World Championships next," Parmar said after winning the gold. "So, I want support from my office and I need sponsors. (PTI) Manu wins silver, men’s hockey team progresses to semis at YOG BUENOS AIRES, Oct 12: Young shooting sensation Manu Bhaker became the second Indian after judoka Tababi Devi to win two medals at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) after winning a silver while the men's hockey team moved to the semi- finals with a 4-2 win over Poland here on Friday. In a unique format, Manu combined with Tajikistan's Behzan Fayzullaev in the 10m air pistol mixed international and set- tled for a silver after losing the gold medal match 3-10 to Germany's Vanessa Seeger and Bulgaria's Kiril Kirov. The India-Tajik pair had on Thursday come through qualifi- cation with a score of 751. They then beat an Egyptian-Thai pair 10-4 in the round of 16 at the Parque Polideportivo Roca shoot- ing range in the Argentine capital. They beat a pair from Lithuania and Moldova 10-8 in the quarter- finals and then overcame Andria Ibarra of Mexico and Dymtro Honta of Ukraine 10-3 in the semifinals.
