JAMMU, Oct 12: JammuDistrict girls defeated their counter-parts from Samba district to win U-14 title of the Divisional LevelInter-District Kho-KhoChampionship, being organised bythe Department of Youth Servicesand Sports at High School JammuCantt, here.
Jammu District beat DistrictSamba by 4 points in the final.
District Samba beat DistrictKathua by 4 points.
In Kho- Kho U-17 Girls,District Kathua beat District Sambaby 2 points, while in Under-19girls, Doda District beat DistrictPoonch by 18 points and RajouriDistrict drubbed District Kathua by3 points.
In all, 212 participants of differ-ent Districts of Jammu Division aretaking part in the Championship.
The competitions are being
held by the Department of YouthServices and Sports, under thepatronage of Dr Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Director General, YouthServices and Sports and under theoverall supervision of Madan Lal,Joint Director.
Chanchal Kour, District YouthServices & Sports Officer Jammuis the Organising Secretary of theChampionship.
RC Kotwal, SSP PoliceHeadquarters Jammu was the chiefguest on the occasion, who waswelcomed by Chanchal Kour in theinaugural ceremony.
While interacting with partici-pants, the chief guest encouragedthe participants and advised them toalways play with sportsman spiritand enthusiasm.

Earlier, in Junior boys, Amanbt Zafar by 11-6,11-8, Prathambeat Vanshik by 11-3,11-6, Baljeetdrubbed Akshit by 11-7, 11-9 andRidhik trounced Pranav by 11-6,12-10.
In the first semifinal, Anuj out-played Pratham by 11-9,11-4while in second semifinal, Baljeet
defeated Ridik by 11-8,11-8. In men's singles first round,

Indian spinners went off theboil in the final session as all-rounder Roston Chase hit a gutsyunbeaten 98 to take the WestIndies to a respectable 295 forseven on the opening day of thesecond Test, here on Friday.
Chase, who scored 137 to denyIndia a victory in a Test match inJamaica back in 2016, showed themuch-needed application withrequisite technique as Indianbowlers struggled after polishingoff the top half for only 113 runs.
Chase, along with skipperJason Holder (52), did enough toensure that the West Indies willhave a good first innings total tofight against a heavyweight Indian
batting line-up.Not being able to dismiss the
middle and lower-order was a
problem in England and it onceagain turned out to be the bowl-ing unit's bane as the Chase-Holder duo added 104 runs forthe seventh wicket.

Athletes in this class haveimpairment in one or both lowerlimbs and poor walking/runningbalance but they play in standingpositions.
"I work as a coach in theGujarat's Sports Authority ofIndia. My target is Paralympics.I will play in the WorldChampionships next," Parmarsaid after winning the gold.
"So, I want support from myoffice and I need sponsors. Whenwe go to play international tour-naments we don't have sponsorsand we have to fund ourselves. Irequest the government to helpus," she added.

Adhere to set guidelines forsports promotion: DC Kargil

KARGIL, Oct 12: DeputyCommissioner and CEO,LAHDC, Kargil, Vikas Kundaltoday called for strict adher-ence to the set guidelines forpromoting sports activities inthe district.
These instructions weregiven by the DeputyCommissioner to all the con-cerned officers during interac-tion with the Officers of YouthServices and Sports here today.
Giving the details of thesports activities carried in the
district from October 8 to 12, itwas given out that a number ofsports events like football, vol-leyball, Kho-Kho, boxing,handball and other events wereheld in the district under KheloIndia scheme.
The DC impressed upon theofficers to encourage youthand students to participate insports for their overall devel-opment. He also asked the con-cerned to aware the studentsand youth about the schemeKhelo India so that the maxi-mum players can participate inthese events.

A spokesperson in a state-ment said that players from allcategories both boys and girls(senior, junior, and sub junior)from all districts of Kashmir par-ticipated.
The championship was spon-sored by J&K State SportsCouncil and was observed andmonitored by officials of J&KState Sports Council.
The statement said that it wasfirst time in Kashmir valley thatpairing was done online by SwissManager Software in SeniorCategory.
In senior boys category, AadilAshraf was overall champion bysecuring 1st position.

18 schools affiliated to CBSEfrom Jammu region participated inthe Athletic Meet. Brig RajanJamwal (Retd), an alumnus of thispremier institution presided overthe Closing function as the chiefguest and gave away medals andtrophies to the winners.
Athletes in both boys and girlscategories sweated it out in thetrack and field events to improvetheir schools' overall points tally.
Sainik School Nagrota toppedthe medal tally at the end of thefinal day's events in boys' categorywith 131 points and APSKaluchak stood second with 33points.
