Stage 3 Excursion to Moree Recount by Indigo SD

Thursday 27th June, SD and SH travelled to Moree. It all started at 5:30am when I woke up and went to breakfast. I was really tired but mostly excited. My Mum and I left our house at 6:40am. On the bus I looked out my window or slept. Then we arrived at Terry Hie Hie. Uncle Lloyd was the man who welcomed us and showed us the sacred sites. He also talked to us about how to let go of negative energy during the smoking ceremony. We ate recess before we had the smoking ceremony. Then we hopped back on the bus to go see a sacred site that was 5000 years old. Then we hopped on the bus to go to the Dhiiyann centre. When we arrived at the Dhiiyaan (Family) Centre we learnt about family trees and family history. There were activities to do at the Dhiiyaan Centre. We could draw Aboriginal signs, do an activity book or a family tree or just look around and read the information. On the way out we got a lollie. Finally we arrived at the Moree pools There were 4 pools, 1 hot pool, 1 warm pool, 1 cold pool, 1 racing pool, a slide and a kids water park. Before we could go swimming a man named Uncle Lyall talked to us about the freedom ride and where it went. He was also part of the freedom ride as a kid. Then the fun started. I was a little nervous about the slide but it was so much fun! I went on the slides 5 times and swam in the pool for ages. The we had to get back on the bus to go home. On the way I watched the sunset. In the end I thought the Moree Excursion was great and I learnt lots.
