lawful resources towards the attainmentof the desired goal while relying entirelyon Allaah-SWT for the results. A merereliance on one's resources leads tocorrupt practices and illegal ways. Themain cause behind thefts and bribe is thisreliance on money.

The fourth qualification of thebelievers is that they establish Salatthemselves with devotion observing allthe etiquettes and instruct others to doso. The fifth one is that they spend fromwhat Allaah-SWT has given them, incompliance with His-SWT Commands. This includes wealth, knowledge andspiritual strength, as well as power andauthority, because all these are theblessings of Allaah-SWT . And they darenot defy Him-SWT . Those who possessthe above attributes are indeed thebelievers.

The very first audience of the Quranare the Companions-RAU who are alsothe exemplary believers. Thus for alltimes to come till Yaum al Qiyamah, theirconduct is like a mirror for every believerto look into and determine his own level offaith. And no one can qualify as a believerby mere proclamation of Islam, while hisconduct contradicts his claim. OnceImam Hassan Basri-RUA was askedwhether he considered himself to be abeliever. He said that as far as believingin Allah-SWT , the Prophets-AS theAngels, the Revelations and the Akhirahwas concerned, he certainly was abeliever. But if he was to be evaluated inthe light of theAyat of AI-Anfal he was nottoo sure, as only Allaah-SWT knew the

best and His-SWT decision will beannounced on the Day of Judgement, when the true believers will be rewardedwith honour, forgiveness and provisions.

According to Behr-e-Muheet thequalities of the believers can be classifiedin three categories. The first type are thequalities of the Qalb, such as faith, Taqwaand Tawakkul etc. The second categoryis of physiological qualities comprisingSalat, Fasting, Hajj etc. and the third isfinancial, which includes spending in theCause of Allaah-SWT . The rewardscorresponding to these categories arealso of three types. The virtues of heartea rn h igher sp i r i t ual st a t ions ,physiological virtues lead to salvation, and financial worship brings more andbetter provisions. The perfection of thesequalities leads to total surrender to theWill and Purpose of Allaah-SWT and itsrewards can be seen in the Battle of Badr. What awaits such believers in theHereafter may well be imagined.

Al lah-SWT ‘s Commands areabsolutely true and must be obeyedregardless of how such acts of obediencemay outwardly appear. To fight theMakkans at Badr without manpower, weapons and logistics during thescorching summer and the month offasting was apparently suicidal. It was atthis time that the Holy Prophet-SW wasinformed about the trade caravan of theMakkans, headed by Abu Sufyan,

returning from Syria richly laden. Thiscaravan was a joint venture of the infidelsto raise funds in order to fight theMuslims. So important was this venturethat the caravan was escorted by seventymounted and armed men of which fortywere the chieftains of Quraish. Allaah-SWT Commanded the Holy Prophet-SWto go forth and foil the evil plans ofQuraish and its accomplices. Thus theHoly Prophet-SW announced thedeparture for the mission assigned by theAlmighty. Many did not have any meansof travelling, while some had otherreasons for not being able to go.Nevertheless the Army of Islam, comprising three hundred and thirteennoble souls, seventy camels, two horsesand six armours and approximately eightswords set out, in execution of Allah-SWT's Command. When they arrivednear Badr informers were sent to get anupdate on the enemy caravan. Theyfound that the situation had radicallychanged. The caravan, getting a wind ofthe approaching Muslims, had changedits course and had got away safely bymoving along the coastline, while anarmy of one thousand warriors fromMakkah were heading towards Madinahon receiving a request for help from thecaravan

And recall when Allaah-SWT waspromising you-SW one of the two partiesthat it should be yours-SW and you-SWwished that the one not armed should beyours-SW; while Allaah-SWT sought tojustify the truth by His-SWT Words and tocut off the root of the infidels.(8:7)

In order that He-SWT might justify thetruth and falsify the false, though theguilty ones were averse to it.(8:8)

And recall when you-SW implored your-SW Rabb-SWT and He-SWT answeredyou-SW: surely I-SWT am about tosuccour you-SW with a thousand ofangels rank in rank.(8:9)

And Allaah-SWT did not make thispromise save as glad tidings and thatyour minds might be assured; and victorycomes only from Allaah-SWT . VerilyAllaah-SWT is Mighty, Wise.(8:10)

The booty was a Divine Favour forMuslims. So far it was forbidden to thepreceding nations. The verdict of theHoly Prophet-SW had to be obtained

about its disposal who issued fourordinances: (1) Anyone killing anopponent would take his belongings, which would not form part of the booty (2)The contingent going on an expeditionwould distribute the seized bootyamongst themselves leaving one fifth forthe Bait al Mal (Govt. Treasury) (3) Fromthe share deposited at the Bait al Mal,awards for courage under fire andexceptional performances would begiven to the deserving (4) The share ofthe servants corps was taken from thetotal recoveries. The general rule laiddown for the distribution of the booty wasto give one fifth into the Bait al Mal andthe rest to go to the troops. It must beadded here that these rules had been laiddown at Badr, so the assumption thatsome troops had abandoned their post atUhad to collect booty for themselves isabsurd.

The booty will be at the disposal ofAllah-SWT's Messenger-SW, which he-SW will dispense under His-SWTGuidance. However, the believers mustconcentrate on achieving Taqwa andmust continuously strive to gain morespiritual elevation. The spiritual statesindeed are the real wealth worth aspiringfor, as against temporal affluence.

The bel ievers must maintainharmony amongst themselves throughself-denial because the temporal wealthis always a source of conflict. Therefore, booty is not the motive behind Jihad; it isonly a bonus, a reward. The real purposeis the obedience toAllah-SWT expressedthrough the obedience to His-SWTProphet-SW who alone is given theknowledge of what Allaah-SWT likes or

dislikes.Therefore, the Holy Prophet-SW

must be obeyed with devotion andsincerity, which indeed is the obedienceto Allaah-SWT and a source of attainingTaqwa and spiritual states. Taqwa andobedience are each other‘s seeds as wellas fruits. Faith demands obediencewhich is also the measure by which thelevel of faith is determined.

A believer is defined here as a personwhose heart is overawed at the verymention of Allah-SWT's Name. This awedoes not mean fear of anything harmful. Itrather denotes that heartfelt experienceof the glory and grandeur of theMagnificent Being-SWT , which is asuperior spiritual state. Thus therecitation of the Quran, the Word ofAllah-SWT, raises the level of a believer's faith.

Although a regular recitation of thetext of the Quran generates inner lightand helps to believe firmly in theHereafter and act piously but if themeanings and the interpretation are alsounderstood, the aforesaid state isattained with excellence and speed. Thisthen creates a natural aversion todisobedience.

Thirdly the believers put in their besteffort to achieve an objective byemploying all available resources. However, they neither rely on theirresources nor effort but only on Allaah-SWT . The term Tawakkul does notdenote a state whereby a person sits idle, but it means to direct one's energy and

of events. The Muslims seized bootyafter the victory at Badr and the questionarose how should it be handled, becausefor all preceding nations booty wasprohibited. They would pile it up in thefield and a fire from the heavens wouldconsume it as a sign of DivineApproval. Ifat times the booty was left intact, no onewould touch it considering it to beinauspicious. It is amongst the blessingsof the holy Prophet-SW that booty wasmade lawful. Anfal is the plural of Naflwhich means bonus and that is why Salator charity which is not obligatory is calledNafl. The booty seized in Jihad is alsocalled Anfal because it is not the motivebehind the struggle. The motive is touphold the truth and the booty is onlybonus for the participants and revenuefor the State.

This booty is of two categories: Faiyand Anfal. The former consists of whatthe enemy leaves behind when hesurrenders voluntarily without fight, whilethe latter is won after fighting a battle.Since the Battle of Badr was the very firstclash between the Muslims and theinfidels and it was also the first to bedetermined who gets what. TheCommentators explain that when theinfidels deserted the battlefield at Badar, the Companions-RAU were regroupedinto three contingents. One followed thefleeing; the second collected the bootywhile the third gathered around the HolyProphet-SW for protection against anunexpected attack and also to act as anoperational reserve for any emergency. All the three forces were important in theirown way, so the matter of division of thebooty amongst them was placed beforethe Holy Prophet-SW.

They ask you-SW concerning thebooty; say you-SW: the booty is Allah-SWT's and the Messenger-SW's. So fearAllah-SWT, and set right the matteramong you, and obey Allaah-SWT andHis-SWT Messenger-SW if you arebelievers.(8:1)

The believers are only those whosehearts quake with awe when Allaah-SWTis mentioned, and when His-SWTRevelations are rehearsed to them, itincreases their faith and they put trust intheir Rabb-SWT .(8:2)

Who establish prayer and who spend ofwhat We-SWT have provided them.(8:3)

These are they who are the truebelievers. For them are degrees withtheir Rabb-SWT and forgiveness and aprovision honourable.(8:4)

Asrar At-Tan ilxBy: Ameer Muhammad Akram Awan

The English Tafseer of Quran

Translation and Tafseer Surah Name: Al-A' Meaning: The , Reveleaed at Makkahraf Heights

This worldly life is neither an idlesport nor fun. Even the Prophets-AS and the Messengers-AS will

account for their responsibilities, and willbe asked whether or not they hadconveyed the Divine Message. They willbe questioned despite their innocenceand the fact that they exerted all theirenergies to achieve the mission for whichraised. The Holy Prophet-SW highlightedthis in his-SW FarewellAddress inArafat, when he-SW inquired from the audienceas to how did he-SW fare with his-SWmission? All of them replied: "You-SWhave indeed fully lived upto the task ofconveying the Div ine Message’.Thereupon the Holy Prophet-SW raisedhis-SW finger towards the heavens andsaid thrice: Allaah-SWT ’! Be mywitness."

If this is the state of the Prophets-AS"with regard to accountability, how comethose unto whom they had been senthope for evading questioning. Still mostof them did not even bother to listen to theProphets-AS The questioning will bethorough, down to the minutest details ofactions, which even the doers wouldhave forgotten. Declares Allaah-SWT ’:"I-SWT ’ will make them remembereverything as I-SWT ’ am alwayswatching, and nothing escapes My-SWT’knowledge."

Today it is generally believed that theone in power, or the affluent wins the day.Whether one is afraid of the responsibilitythe power brings, or becomes arrogantonce he acquires it will be known on theDay of Judgement, when everythingincluding beliefs and practices will beweighed on the most accurate Scales. Therefore, do not assume any action asintangible or weightless, and therefore, not liable. Allaah-SWT ’ is all Powerful topersonify every sin or give weight tostates without any physical appearanceor form. Thus the acts of obedience shallbe placed on one side of the Scales andthe deeds of disobedience on the other. Ifthe weight of the former is more, theperson will be emancipated. Otherwise

the abode will be Hell, proportionate tothe gravity of the sins, and this indeed willbe a great loss. If one had acquiredwealth, power or fame by employingunfair means, he shall face the torment ofHell. The basic cause for this loss is thedenial of Allah-SWT's Signs. Disbelief issuch a crime that no piety can evercoexist with it and it drives thedisobedient to Hell. On the contrary, thebelievers are forgiven, as faith doesi n v o k e H i s - S W T M e r c y. T h eCommentators have discussed theweight of different deeds, and theirrelative value on the Scales. In case of abeliever, there is every hope of ultimatesalvation, even if he has to suffer in Hellfor a while for any sin. But disbelief leadsto everlasting doom.

Allah-SWT has created the earth ashuman abode and has placed all thematerial resources of life therein. Thisclearly shows that all resources of humanlife are only available on earth. If oneaspires to settle on the moon or any otherplanet, he will have to take all theresources of life from here, not only thefood but also the atmosphere, the

climate, the oxygen etc. How difficult andunnatural would it be to live there! If onlythe billions of dollars squandered awaysenselessly on excursions to the moonand in the space are spent on the earthfor the betterment of mankind! In spite ofthe innumerable blessings there are veryfew people who show gratitude to Allaah-SWT by obeying Him-SWT .

•This is a Madni Surah. It is the sequelto Surah Al-A'raf, which highlighted theaftermath of infidelity and polytheism vis-à-vis faith and piety. Al-Anfal reveals thepractical demonstration of theseconsequences. It portrays the way theirpride and hostility of the infidels wasreduced to ashes in the encounter withp i e t y a n d f a i t h f u l ne ss o f t heCompanions-RAU, of the Holy Prophet-SW at Badr. Outwardly it was a struggleby a few hundred men, but in terms of itsresults the battle of Badr proved to be aturning point in the history of mankind. Italtered the pace and changed the course

Some of us are blessed withnaturally beautiful eyebrowsand some are blessed with the

skills to recreate that beautiful naturalbrow. While they might not be the firstthing you think of when applyingmakeup, eyebrows are one of themost important parts of your face. Many makeup artists, includingmyself, will agree that eyebrows notonly frame your face but also help youlook groomed and sleek.

A crucial part of this process isstarting off with a properly shaped andclean brow. If you have trouble doing ityourself, go to an expert! And one thatyou trust. I'm sure we all have thoseeyebrow ladies we will never, eversee again. Threading is my firstpreference. If I can't make it out thenthe tweezer is my bestie. Once yourface is washed clean, applymoisturizer while avoiding theeyebrows. The residue and oils fromthe moisturizer can wipe away all yourhard work in an instant. Next, it is bestto brush out your eyebrows in anupwards motion using an eyebrowbrush- something that imitates amascara wand.

For a fresher, natural look, there'sno need for a powder or pencil.Instead, you can use a brow tint to addsome definition and set it in place. These can also be used to touch upthe unwanted greys!

For a more defined brow, you willneed an angled eyebrow brush and ashadow or pencil, or both. It isimportant to use one shade lighterthan your brow hair. If you don't own a

brow powder, simply use aneyeshadow that is a cool brown andnot one with a red undertone (unlessyou're a red-head). When using apencil, use gentle strokes (a pluckingupwards motion) in areas of sparsehair to fill in gaps. Then use themascara wand-like brush to brush thehair. This will help smudge any rigidlines and blend it out.

I like to use both pencil andshadow. I use the pencil to outline mybrow (usually near my arch) where Iwant to fill in the shadow. Then I take amix of Billion dollar brow powdersintaupe and brown to fill where I'mlacking hair, leaving the front till thevery end. Without adding on any extrashadow, I brush the front in an upwardsmotion. This helps to give it a morenaturally defined finish. Finally, I setthem in place with a brow gel to helpkeep them in place.

The whole process seems tedious atfirst, but you can be a brow expert in notime! Be patient and don't getfrustrated. It only takes one bad moveto go from natural to graphic-whichonly looks good in fashion magazines.

Do not shave your eyebrows! Usinga razor will not remove the hair fromthe pore and can leave you withingrown hair.Give your eyebrow more definitionby applying a highlighter/ concealerover and under the brow bone andsmudging it out.Do not pencil in the front of youreyebrow. It is always safer to use ashadow, using less of what is on therest of your brow

I think I am missing VirenderSehwag. To be fair, this is awonderful bunch of young

players and they are carrying thebaton delivered to them by anextraordinary group. I find AjinkyaRahane most pleasing to the eye,Rohit Sharma’s 264 was anaudacious innings that stretchedour imagination, the fielding is betterthan it has been and there are fastbowlers out there who don’t aspireto be medium-pacers. And I will tellpeople when I am old thatI saw Virat Kohli bat.Cricket is still great funbut I am missing Sehwag.

Sehwag had me sittingon the edge of my seat.A lways . I t was l i kewatching a thriller exceptthat when you watched itthe next time, you stilldidn’t know what wascoming next. He was jaw-dropping, he was hair-wrenching. You rolled youreyes and you threw yourhead back. You looked atthe scoreboard and italways showed you adifferent number. He couldbe exhilarating, he couldbe frustrating. He took youon a joyride and helaughed while you held onto your seat in fright.

I a l way s t hough tSehwag played cricket the way it wasoriginally meant to be played. Thenumbers happened. 8586 runs in Testcricket @ 49.34 with 23 centuries. Those were brilliant numbers but wedon’t need them to explain Sehwag.Or to fight his case in an argument. Incricket’s most native form, the bowlerbowls to get a batsman out and thebatsman plays to hit the ball. You gotthe feeling Sehwag didn’t worry

beyond that. Only if he couldn’t hit theball, he blocked it. You hardly everanalysed Sehwag’s innings, you justenjoyed them.

But he wasn’t a blind basher.Talking to him about cricket, and sadlythose moments were too rare, youalways came away thinking you hadspoken to someone with anuncluttered, confident mind. “Thebatsman is always scared,” he oncesaid, “but the bowler must be too. Hemust also think, if I bowl a bad ball

where will Sehwag hit me!” Thethinking behind that is clear and it hasthe simplicity that is disarming. If thebowler knows the batsman isn’t goingto hit him, he isn’t afraid of bowling abad ball.

Sehwag was the most feared manin an India-Pakistan match. He playedwith a smile, with a song on his lips butalso with a calm mind, letting fearbrew within the opposition. In 9 Testmatches, he made 1276 runs

@91.14. It would have beeninteresting to have measured hispulse, especially in relation toeveryone else’s!

He told us, too, that it was okay tohit in the air, to hit over the top and indoing so, he recalibrated risk for all ofus. We were always told, from clubcricketers to Test players, that hittingin the air was inviting another mode ofdismissal. For years we accepted thatas the gospel, like good boys wedidn’t challenge it.

But Sehwag happily hit over thetop, he played into the gap over thefielder’s head where everyoneconfined themselves to seeking thegap between fielders. Yes, it was stillrisky but with new bats, it wasnowhere near as threatening aseveryone believed it was.

And so he has leftbehind a treasure ofgood cheer. Whichamong those was hisbest? 201* out of only329 against Sri Lankawhen everyone else wasplaying on a minefieldand he was on thehighway? 319 againstSouth Africa from only304 balls while chasing540? 309 at Multan? 254a t L a h o r e ? T h a tridiculous 293 from 254balls in Mumbai when heended day 2 at 284 notout while still in the fieldat the start of play? Orwas it that 83 from 68balls with India chasing387 to win a Test? Wouldanyone in the world hiteleven 4s and four 6sagainst a target that hadonly so rarely been

achieved in cricket history? Sehwagoften talks about facing the ball, notthe bowler or the situation.

I don’t know how much I am goingto see of him. I absolutely enjoyedseeing him play for the Kings XI in theIPLbut what of India? Maybe the eyesaren’t seeing the ball the same way, maybe the feet are heavier, maybethe bat isn’t as charged with freedom.Maybe there isn’t the same fear in themind of the bowler running inn

Nizam Of Hyderabad With His Golden Sword Made Of 3 kgsPure Gold with the Maharajas At Falaknuma Palace in 1915

Even the TIME magazinepublished the Nizam on itscover in 1937 as the richestman in the world. Growing up in

Hyderabad, I remember memorizingand reading his name in GeneralKnowledge text books as the richestman in the world. As recently as 1944,the Nizam was reputed to have anannual income of 20 million dollars,an 800-million dollar collection ofjewelry, and a 100-million-dollarfortune in gold bars. Yet he wasknown to wear clothes and shoes thatwere battered, banged and bruised bywear and tear. Was it miserly or aphilosophy or a publicly posted farce. In an era when there were Jinnahs ofthe world wearing matchingsuits from London's SavileRow or the Nehru's laundryfrom Switzerland, the Nizamwas in his unwashed pyjamasat the Faluknama Palace (nowa premium Taj Hotel brandwhere Bajrangi Bhaijaan saidbyes to his adopted sister in alavish wedding). Simplicityyou might suggest……..butthe man was the head of aState equal to today's UK orFrance. And don't ignore thepaper weight on his table….50million pounds diamond atthat time. Hailing from AsafJahi dynasty boasting of fourwives and hosting a harem of morethan 750 concubines, the Pasha leftan indelible mark in the history ofHyderabad. A great proponent of theUrdu language he built on the legacyof Daagh Dehlvi who lived and died inHyderabad.

While there are many stories fromrags to riches but this unusual twist inthe Nizam khandaan is riches to rags. His grandchildren areinvolved in thecomplicated litigation quagmire forinheritance between India andPakistan even today. Blame it onthose power-brokers who claimedthat the sun never sets in their empire.

My childhood days were spent bythe Hyderabad Airport runwaydreaming of flying some day, somewhere with some one………but then Ijust watched VIP's roar past in theirlimousines after landing at the airport. And whenever Pandit Nehru visitedHyderabad, the Nizam would go toreceive him. In his churidaar andsherwani and rumi topi chewing paanthe erstwhile ruler who at one timethreatened to form a mini-Pakistan inthe center of India appeared more likea numb lamb rather than a fierce tiger. Most of the elders talked very fondlyof the Nizam. His currency the only

one allowed in independent Indiaknown as "Osmaniya Sikka" wasrevered by all and colloquiallyreferred as "barkat ka paisa." Thecommunal carnage that resulted justbefore the surrender of Hyderabad(also coincided with my birth) isattributed to his General, Qasim Rizviand the Arya Samaj elements.Nizam's name was Osman Ali KhanBahadur and according to manysources was secular and peace-loving. My Abba used to say thatNizam always mentioned that Hindusand Muslims were like his two eyes.Eventually, when the kingdom wasbroken up by the iron hand of Sardar

Vallabhai Patel, it was trisected andmerged with the states of Telangana,Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Generous and enlightened, Nizamgifted expensive presents and QueenElizabeth is the recipient of a "Nizamof Hyderabad Necklace". No wonderhe lays claims to titles like "HisExalted Highness" and "The FaithfulAlly of the British Empire". Hyderabadis also known for spinning tales, multiplication and exaggeration offacts, figures and filters. His downfallis attributed to the curse on him for hislust for a woman on a visit to aGulbarga saint's shrine.

On the plus side of Nizam'sadministration (1911-1948) are thelaudable projects on construction, education, transportation, sanitation, restoration, medication. He is thearchitect of banking that resulted intoday's State Bank of Hyderabad. Many Hyderabadis fondly rememberhis rule as an eloquent testimony to ajust monarch and even distance him

from the Razakaar movement. TheHyderabad House he built inDelhi is stil l used fordiplomatic sessions by theGovernment of India. Thecurrent Chief Minister ofTelangana very r ightlycredits the Nizam for theoverall development of infra-structure of Hyderabad.Nizam integrated the Siddisfrom Africa and Hadhrami'sfrom Yemen into the multi-c u l t u r a l m o s a i c o fHyderabad that can be am o d e r n t r e a t i s e i nassimilation. In Karachi's political life, a vacuume x i s t s r i g h t n o w . T h eestablishment is trying to fill in this

vacuum by fielding political leaders ofits choice, a blend of right-wing JI andPTI of Imran Khan.

MQM is struggling. It's strugglingfor its political survival. Regardless of"the onslaught on the party" by theestablishment, as MQM leaders callit, the party has not lost all its strengthhere. MQM workers are, by and large, loyal to the party though many of themhave nothing to do these days, exceptfor surfing on the net to find out whatAltaf Bhai has said of late, or to readthe postings of the media wing of theparty in response to the pressreleases issued by the rangers.(Rangers' media cell is doing a superbjob by the way, from their ownstandards and has successfully wonstrong support in electronic and printmedia)!

A few hundreds of workers havedisappeared. It's not clear how manyof them have been picked up by lawenforcement agencies and how manyhave fled to foreign lands.

Karachiites, meanwhile, arewaiting. The silent majority of themhas been watching the ongoingpolitical gamming from the sidelines. And, some leading pol i t i ca lcommentators say that when it comesto municipal or local bodies' elections,MQM's silent support would surgeonce again.

But, for more insightful bunch ofobservers, the MQM has lost itserstwhile glory once and for all. Forthem, success in upcoming municipalelections matter much less in theongoing tussle between the MQM andthe establishment. Even if the partydoes a good job in these elections, how it would regain the kind of control

it used to exercise over the city of24m, they wonder. They don't mincewords in pointing out that MQM'sinfluence over Karachi had alwaysbeen more like that of a pressuregroup and, quite violent andthreatening at times, and lesspolitical, in its essence.

This argument becomes valid fortwo reasons: first, the MQM's networkof hard-core workers has nearlyshattered and secondly, the party'sunchallenged influence over print andelectronic media now remains next tonothing!

Expand this analysis' canvas, andyou can see finer details of Pakistan'semerging political landscape: the newrole of JI and other religious-cumpolitical parties, future of PTI, PPP'spopularity decline, PML (N)'suncertainties after its rocky ride topower etc.

JI is the blue-eyed boy of theestablishment these days. Authenticofficial sources say that about a yearago, when the establishment haddecided to reenergize JI, that decisionwas partly made to clear the way forstreamlining of radical religious forcesinto politics. And, there was a methodt h i s " m a d n e s s " . H a d t h eestablishment not gone extra miles tofacilitate JI make a successfulpresence show in Karachi, thevacuum that was bound to emergeafter practical dislodging of MQM,could have been filled by the rogueelements in the garb of the religiousforces.

PTI, observers say, continues tot o e t h e l i n e g i v en b y t heestablishment to win as much supportin Karachi as possible so that when itcomes to municipal elections, MQMcould not make a successful come-back. PPP's decline both politically aswell as in terms of governance in

Sindh province is organic in its nature.Asif Zardari's lust for authoritarianshow in running party's affairscoupled with the party's near-failure inadministering Sindh province havepaved the way for others (read PTI, JIand company) to double their effortsfor launching a vote winningcampaign in the interior of Sindh, where support for PPP remainedunshaken. But for PML (N), it's notthe country's politics that woulddecide its future. It's the party's abilityto keep a balance between itswillingness to accede power to theestablishment and its ability to savelift the country's economy. Concernsand uncertainties abound. Exceptfor facilitating a downward journey ofinflation and boosting foreignexchange reserves to $20bn, PML(N)government can't boast of anyimmediate economic gains.

On rebalancing civil-militaryrelationship PML (N) seems to havebecome motionless. Political partiesare feeling more and more alienatedfrom exercising their say in the stateaffairs, allowing greater interference, though sometimes quite called for, ofour beloved armed forcesn

ALBANY, NY - Syria has the largest humanitarian crisis since World War II. The death toll in Syria accordingto conservative estimates is 300,000 people. More than double the death toll than Bosnia, Burma and the past four decades of the Palestine conflict combined. This was said by the speakers in the workshop at Muslim Community Center on Sunday October 25, 2015 here in Capital District of New York.

portrays. This is not a sectarian war. This is basically a war that the Assad regime along with many other factions that started this war against people who wanted freedom and democracy." said Suzanne Meriden of the Syrian American Council.
