The old copper cladding from the bell tower has been removed, and a waterproof membrane has been installed over the wood decking of the tower. The contractor has discovered some wood rot, especially in the lower areas of the bell tower, and this will be replaced with new wood planks before the new copper is installed. This was anticipated, and the costs for this extra work are within our budget. Fabrication and installation of new copper roofing will start next week and will take about 24 working days, with completion of this segment scheduled for around July 7th. Delivery date for the polymer slate shingles is scheduled for July 10th, and work on removal of the existing shingles will start around that time.

Funds have been coming in slowly; the total contributions to date are approximately $140,000 of the required $487,700. The Diocese has approved our loan facility to secure interim financing for the project as we need the funds. We have had several very generous donations of $10,000 each, and the balance of the contributions so far have been received from parish families averaging over $600. Every one of us has different financial circumstances, and for some, a donation of $50 is truly generous, and some can afford to give much more. Through the summer Jennifer will be contacting many parishioners and soliciting support for this project.
