troduced by Roberto Ippolito in the presence of the author. Once again, Leonardo da Vinci airport turns into a place of cultural entertainment, giv-ing travelers waiting for their flight the chance to spend time pleasantly.

The Leonardo da Vinci airport once again opens its doors to great international cin-ema, welcoming international actors, ac-tresses, directors and stars. Thanks to the partnership between Aeroporti di Roma and the Rome Film Fest, reception corners will be set up in the arrivals halls of Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 for the celebrity guests partaking the event.The fourteenth edition of the Rome Film Fest, which this year pays tribute to the “divine” Greta Garbo, will take place from October 17 to 27, 2019 in the Auditorium Parco della Musica, the prestig-ious structure designed by Renzo Piano.The official selection will host forty movies from all over the world, that will compete for the BNL Audience Award.As usual, the Artistic Director and the members of the Selection Committee will share with the pub-lic a brief review of movies that have marked the history of cinema. 2019 is the year of the screwball comedy, the sophisticated American comedy of the ‘30s and ‘40s. Each movie will be accompanied by a meeting with authors, actors and guests, and before each screening audience will be gifted with short pills of the most famous American comedies.In the days of the event, ample space will be dedi-

cated to the Close Encounters with important per-sonalities of art and culture world.On the agenda, numerous events, including the Bill Murray Career Award presented by Wes Anderson, and the Close Encounters with Bret Easton Ellis, Ron Howard - who will introduce the documentary on Luciano Pavarotti - Oliver Assayas - with a lecture on the Nouvelle Vague - and Bertrand Tavernier, who will analyze the cinema of Renoir, Bresson and Clouzot.A tribute will also be paid to Gillo Pontecorvo, a century after his birth, with the restoration of Kapò, one of the Tuscan director’s masterpieces.On the schedule, also the restored version of Fed-erico Fellini’s Satyricon, a visionary reinvention of the classic by Gaius Petronius Arbiter.Among the events not to be missed, on October 21st, the presentation of Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, the long-awaited movie that brings to the big screen an epic saga on organized crime in post-war America.The Festival will involve numerous places and cultural realities of the Capital: among these, the MAXXI (National Museum of the arts of the XXI century), the Casa del Cinema and the MACRO (Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome).

In one of the most beautiful concert halls of Rome - the Borromini Sacristy in Sant’Agnese in Agone - a journey to rediscover the beauty of Ba-roque architecture accompanied by the emotions that only music can evoke. Teatro Costanzi hosts Laurent Hilaire’s ‘Don Quixote’, inspired by the original version for the American Ballet Theater. A great classic, based on the novel by Miguel de Cervantes, and a challenge for all the greatest choreographers, from Nureyev to Bal-anchine. The deeply original exhibition is based on the comic-strip scenes born out of the creative inspiration of two internationally renowned masters: Vladimir Ra-dunsky and A.J. Weissbard. With over two hundred exhibition levels, the Museum displays 20th century’s socio-economic and industrial evolution by the means of toys: from the steam engine of the industrial revolution (1850) to the end of the tin toy with the advent of plastic (1962). The museum offers a thematic library ser-vice about the history of the toy, the history of street games, as well as a large collection of fairy tales. Every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

Freely inspired by one of the most famous novels of “The Thousand and One Nights”, the musical traces the adventures of Aladdin and the Genius of the lamp, in a sumptuous mid-dle-eastern setting. On stage 20 performers - ex-cellences of dance, song and acrobatics - will take the audience into a spectacular world of magic, adventure, laughter, original themes and great Italian and International hits.

Romaeuropa Festival’s 34th edition travels between ancestral rites and urban culture, broken roots and forced migration, global realism and artificial intelligence. A modern world’s map both virtual and real, dreamlike projections of possible futures and divings into everyday life’s ambiguity. On the 22 stages of the Capital, 377 art-ists from 27 countries will be protagonists of 126 events. Until November 24.

THE CHESTS OF DRAWERSThe beautiful eighteenth-century square of St. Ignatius is overlooked by the so-called “chests of drawers”, buildings built by the architect Filippo Raguzzini and strongly resembling pieces of furniture. Widely criticized at the beginning, they later became the object of particular admiration.

THE MIRACLE OF THE LAMPLocated in the Church of San Giovanni Calibita on the Tiber Island, the painting “The Madonna of the Lamp” was originally located in a niche near the Ponte Quattro Capi. According to tradition, during the disastrous flood of 1557, the lamp illuminating it remained prodigiously lighted, and the painting, although covered by the waters of the Tiber, suffered no damage. PURGATORY MUSEUMIt is an exhibition of testimonies that would prove the existence of purgatory. The museum is located in lungotevere Prati, in the the sacristy of the church of Sacro Cuore del Suffragio. In a long wall notice board one can admire reproductions of strange finds, mostly coming from France and collected between 1636 and 1919.

Conceived by Valerio Berruti, the pro-ject comes to life by the means of 3,000 drawings joined in sequence to become frames of a video, starring Nina, a little car-ny, and Geppo. The monumental sculpture of the carousel displaying birds instead of horses, is exhibited in the MAXXI hall, where visitors are asked to complete the work with an active participation, that is, listening to the soundtrack composed by Ludovico Ein-audi.
