The book of Romans has been described as the Himalayas of the Bible – in other words it is one of the most important books in the Bible, standing tall like the mountains, full of wonderful teaching. And if Romans is like the Himalayas then, some say, Romans 8 is like Mount Everest, the highest peak of all.

Romans 8:1-17•Step#1 - Ask
•Step#2 - Read
![Page 8: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Romans 8:1-178 Therefore, there is now no
condemnation for those who are in
Christ Jesus, 2 because through
Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit
who gives life has set you[a] free
from the law of sin and death.
![Page 9: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Romans 8:1-173 For what the law was powerless
to do because it was weakened by
the flesh,[b] God did by sending his
own Son in the likeness of sinful
flesh to be a sin offering.[c] And so
he condemned sin in the flesh,
![Page 10: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Romans 8:1-174 in order that the righteous
requirement of the law might be
fully met in us, who do not live
according to the flesh but
according to the Spirit
![Page 11: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Romans 8:1-175 Those who live according to the
flesh have their minds set on what
the flesh desires; but those who
live in accordance with the Spirit
have their minds set on what the
Spirit desires
![Page 12: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Romans 8:1-176 The mind governed by the flesh is
death, but the mind governed by
the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The
mind governed by the flesh is
hostile to God; it does not submit
to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8
Those who are in the realm of the
flesh cannot please God.
![Page 13: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Romans 8:1-179 You, however, are not in the
realm of the flesh but are in the
realm of the Spirit, if indeed the
Spirit of God lives in you. And if
anyone does not have the Spirit of
Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
![Page 14: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Romans 8:1-1710 But if Christ is in you, then even
though your body is subject to
death because of sin, the Spirit
gives life[d] because of
righteousness.
![Page 15: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Romans 8:1-1711 And if the Spirit of him who
raised Jesus from the dead is living
in you, he who raised Christ from
the dead will also give life to your
mortal bodies because of[e] his
Spirit who lives in you.
![Page 16: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Romans 8:1-1712 Therefore, brothers and sisters,
we have an obligation—but it is not
to the flesh, to live according to it.
13 For if you live according to the
flesh, you will die; but if by the
Spirit you put to death the misdeeds
of the body, you will live.
![Page 17: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Romans 8:1-1714 For those who are led by the Spirit
of God are the children of God. 15
The Spirit you received does not
make you slaves, so that you live in
fear again; rather, the Spirit you
received brought about your adoption
to sonship.[f] And by him
we cry, “Abba,[g] Father.”
![Page 18: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
Romans 8:1-1716 The Spirit himself testifies with
our spirit that we are God’s children.
17 Now if we are children, then we
are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs
with Christ, if indeed we share in his
sufferings in order that we may also
share in his glory.
![Page 19: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)

you[a] free (v2)
![Page 23: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)

from the dead (v11)
The Spirit give life (v11)
The Spirit leads us. (v14)
![Page 25: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
Romans 8:1-17The Spirit adopts us as sons and
through the Spirit we call God –
Abba Father (v15)
The Spirit himself testifies with
our spirit that we are God’s
children (v16)
![Page 26: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
Romans 8:1-17•Step#3 -ThinkWhat is God saying to
me personally through
this passage? Is there
a promise or a
command, a warning
or example to take
special notice of?
![Page 27: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/27.jpg)
Romans 8:1-17Lesson#1
Therefore, there is
now no condemnation
for those who are in
Christ Jesus. (8:1)
![Page 28: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
Romans 6:6 For we know that our
old self was crucified with him so
that the body ruled by sin might
be done away with,[a] that we
should no longer be slaves to sin.
Romans 6:18 You have been set
free from sin and have become
slaves to righteousness.
![Page 29: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/29.jpg)
Romans 8:1-17In the larger context of previous
chapters especially chapter 6 and
7 and Romans 8:2-4;
No condemnation – means we
have been justified and are saved.
![Page 30: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/30.jpg)
"But now, by dying to what once bound
us, we have been released from the
law so that we serve in the new way
of the Spirit, and not in the old way of
the written code" (7:6). Therefore,
there is now no condemnation for
those who are in Christ Jesus (8:1).
![Page 31: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/31.jpg)
Now no condemnation — This implies
that there would have been
condemnation to those to whom he
wrote, had they remained under the
law; but now, since they have died with
Christ, and thereby given complete
satisfaction to the law, both in its
penalty and precept, it is not possible
that by it they can be condemned.
![Page 32: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/32.jpg)
Romans 8:1-17John 5:24
24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever
hears my word and believes him
who sent me has eternal life and
will not be judged but has crossed
over from death to life.
![Page 33: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/33.jpg)
Romans 8:1-17
"Although sin still rages in the
flesh, yet it does not condemn,
because the spirit is just and
battles against it." (Luther.)
![Page 34: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/34.jpg)
Romans 8:1-17This Paul declares with great
emphasis: Condemnation is in
every sense out of the question;
there is none, of any kind or
degree; no sentence of
condemnation can touch them.
![Page 35: Romans 8 4Sep2016](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022030316/587340981a28abf21b8b6a5b/html5/thumbnails/35.jpg)
