Industrial development and its

consolidation After the industrial revolution had important

consequences in Romania, but progress is uneven, there is strong industrial offsets. The pace of industry development reflected in the increasing number of enterprises, with the application of protectionist legislation.


Sustainable development saw milling industry, alcohol and sugar .

It was organized and developed the paper industry, represented by factories from Busteni and Letea .

The main legislative measures who watched encouraging domestic industry referred to the food industry, forestry, petroleum and metallurgical.


The pace of construction enterprises increased considerably in this conditions the late nineteenth century . Businesses are concentrated in the Old Kingdom, in Bucharest , on Prahova Valley , Iasi , Turnu Sevenir ,Galati , Roman , in Transilvania , important industrial centers were in Valea Jiului , Cluj, Arad and Timisoara .


All of them had significant social consequences by increasing the number of industrial workers and them grouping in large enterprises.


The beginning of XX century

1900- Building Sugar factory from Ripiceni (Botosani )

1904- Are founded Oil Companies (with freanch capital ) , “ Oil Loan ” ( with german capital ) and “ Roman-American “ with north american capital).

Are founded Discount Bank, the Austrian capital and a small percentage of the

Romanian capital.


1905 - Is founded Companies “ Italy-Roman “ , who in maintenance of oilfields from Campeni (Bacau) .

It installs in Constanta , the first wireless telegraphy station in Romania, with a reach of 600 km.

It is made submarine telephone cable from Constanta to Istanbul.


1906: Building at Campina by “Romanian Star “ a large and modern rafineries.

Is founded a paper mill along sawmill from Piatra Neamt.


1907: The establishment of the company "Flour", in Bucharest ,the monopolist in the milling industry.


1907: Is founded sawmill from Nehoiu ( Buzau ) , the largest in Europe at the time.


1909 - Appears the first map of the zones of Romania’s ground, elaborated under Gheorghe Munteanu- Murgoci’s direction .

1913 – Are created the silven associations“ Drajna “ and “ Oltul “ .


1914 – It’s created Franco – Romana Bank, with composite capital

Henri Coanda invented the cairn without back stroke , intended for being used by war planes , trephine during the second Great War and in the following years.


1929- Is introduced , in Bucharest , the electric tram , thus canceling the one with animal haulage.


1948- Enter in function the turner enterprise from Arad ( created from consolidation and modernization of six old corporations).

Is realized , in Romania , the first seeder with mechanic haulage for cereals .

1959-1965 – The railway line electrification Brasov – Predeal - Campina , which after was drawn-out up to Bucharest .

Starts to produce Nitrous Fertillizer Bonded from Targul Mures.


1966 – Enter in function: The oxygen Factory from Resita( August ) , The Brimstone acid Factory from chimico-metallurgic Bonded from Baia –Mare (September) , The Cellulose stationery Factory from the Cellulose and paper Bonded from Braila ( October).

7 decembrie 1966 – Enter in function Hydroelectric power plant Bacau II , which close the building activity of hydroelectric power plant ‘ s choker from Bistrita river.


9 decembrie 1966: Enter in function the hydroelectric power plant from the Arges River.
