HousesO Roman houses were so
well built, if you were rich.O If you were poor in Rome,
you lived in simple flats or apartments.
O People tended to use them only for sleeping as they had to work, visit the baths and they usually ate in local inns as cooking in these flats was not safe.
Common building typesO All Roman cities had at least
one Thermae, a popular facility for public bathing, exercising and socializing.
O Roman bath-houses were also provided for private villas, town houses and forts.
O Some of the most impressive secular buildings are the amphitheaters.
MaterialsO They would make their
houses with different materials such as concrete stone wood and marble.
O The Romans used a wide variety of materials ranging from chalk and sand.
O The first use of concrete by the Romans was in the town of Cosa sometime after 273 BCE
