    PatinoFoundation-MenuhinAcademy

    The InternationalMusical Encounterswere created in 1984by the Patino Foundationand organized in collaboration with the Menuhin Academy with the aim of bringingtogetheryoungmusiciansofthehighestlevelthroughcourses,concertsandworkshopsspeciallyfocusedonchambermusic.

    During these meetings, future students of the Menuhin Academy are selected andrecruitedforaperiodofthreeyears.

    LordMenuhin’swishwas to offer young string virtuosos from all over theworld theopportunity to perfect their abilities by taking lessonswith the best teachers and byperforminginmanypublicconcertsgivenbytheMenuhinAcademychamberorchestra,ResidentOrchestraoftheRoseyConcertHallinRolle,Switzerland.

    SinceJuly1,2019,RenaudCapuçonhastakenovertheartisticdirectionoftheAcademy.

    Duringthese3years,thestudentswillbetaughtbyOlegKaskiv,(violin),IvanVukcevic(viola) and Pablo de Naveran (cello) heirs to the tradition of Yehudi Menuhin andAlberto Lysy, who were their masters, and will beneZit from masterclasses given byRenaud Capuçon, his Assistant Guillaume Chilemme, and internationally renownedvisitingprofessors.

    Renaud Capuçon, born in 1976 in Chambéry,entered at the age of 4 the conservatory of hishometown and joined at the age of 14 theNationalConservatoryofMusicinPariswherehestudied with Gérard Poulet and Veda Reynolds,and from which he emerged three years laterwinningtheZirstprizeinchambermusicandtheZirstprizeinviolin.HethenstudiedwithThomasBrandis in Berlin and Isaac Stern. In 1995, hereceivedtheBerlinAcademyofArtsprize.In1998ClaudioAbbado chose him asKonzertmeister for

    theGustavMahlerJugendorchester,whichallowedhimtoperfecthismusicaleducationwithPierreBoulez,SeijiOzawa,DanielBarenboimandFranzWelser-Moest.Atthesametime, he began a career as a soloist but also as a chambermusician. In 2000 hewasnamed "Rising Star" and "New Talent of the Year" at the “Victoires de la Musique”awards in Paris and in 2005 hewas awarded the title of "Instrumental Soloist of theYear". In 2006, he was awarded the Georges Enesco Violin Award by the Sacem, inFrance.

    He is the founderandartisticdirectorof theAix-en-ProvenceEasterFestival and “LesSommetsMusicauxdeGstaad”festival,aswellasaviolinteacheratthe“HauteEcoledeMusique de Lausanne”. Since the 1st July 2019 he became theArtistic Director of theInternationalMenuhinMusicAcademybasedinRolle,Switzerland.

    Renaud Capuçon collaborates with the greatest conductors and the most prestigiousorchestras.This season,Renaudwillperformwithmajororchestraswhich include theWiener Symphoniker, l’Orchestre de Paris, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the CamerataSalzburg, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the New York Philharmonic, the NationalSymphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, not to mention a tour of Asia with theCamerataSalzburgOrchestraandaEuropeantourwiththeSydneySymphonyOrchestra.Passionate about chambermusic, he also collaborateswithMartha Argerich, NicholasAngelich, Kit Armstrong, Khatia Buniatishvili, Frank Braley, Guillaume Bellom, YeZimBronfman,MariaJoaoPires,Jean-YvesThibaudet,GérardCaussé,YuriBashmet,Myung-Whun Chung, Yo YoMa, MischaMaisky, Truls Mork, Michael Pletnev, and his brotherGautier inmajor festivals:Aix-en-Provence, Saint-Denis,LaRoqued'Anthéron,Menton,Colmar, Hollywood Bowl, Tanglewood, Gstaad, Lucerne, Lugano, Verbier, Salzburg,Rheingau, Bucharest Festival Enescu, Amsterdam, Granada...     Oleg Kaskiv was born in 1978 in the small UkrainianvillageKremenetz into a family ofmusicians.He beganplayingviolinat theageof7under theguidanceofhisviolinistsparentsandlaterenteredM.LysenkoNationalAcademyofMusicinLviv.

    In1996,OlegwonascholarshiptostudyinSwitzerlandat the famous International Menuhin Music Academy,whichwasfoundedbyLordYehudiMenuhinin1977.AttheAcademy,Oleg'sgreatmentorwasProfessorAlbertoLysy, who got his education directly from Lord YehudiMenuhinandwashisonlypupil.Therefore,thetraditionof the great romantic violin playing was passed on toOleg.

    Today,OlegKaskiv isasoloistandmainviolinprofessorat theInternationalMenuhinAcademy. As a soloist Oleg Kaskiv regularly performswith great success in his nativecountry with the National Symphony of Ukraine, Odessa Philharmonic and LvivPhilharmonicSymphonyOrchestrasandworldwide:withtheCamerataLysy,Cameratade Lausanne, Symphonisches Orchester Zürich, Orchestre National de Belgique,OrchestreSymphoniquedeMontrealandSinfonieorchesterBaden-Baden.

    He is a laureate of many prestigious violin competitions such as Queen ElisabethInternational Music Competition (Belgium); International Oistrakh Competition(Ukraine); InternationalKotorovychViolin Competition (Ukraine), International SpohrCompetition (Germany); International Montreal Competition (Canada); InternationalPremioLipizer(Italy),InternationalNiredgaziViolinCompetition(Japan),InternationalDvarionas Violin Competition (Lithuania) and International Molinari Competition(Switzerland).

    HeplaysaviolinfromGiuseppeGuarneridelGesù,oneofthegreatestviolinmakers inthemusic history,which is lent to him to recognize his high class as a violinist and amusician.

    ProfessorofViolaattheInternationalMenuhinMusic Academy and Solo Viola with theOrchestradellaSvizzeraitaliana,IvanVukčevićisanemergingadvocateoftheViola.Heplaysarare and powerful LandolZi (1753) and hisability to draw out regularly compellinginterpretations has led to him having

    performedseveralnewworksinadditiontotheexpectedhallmarksoftheviolalexicon.

    IvanhasperformedthroughoutEurope,Australia,NorthAmericaandtheAsias,andco-founded the Quartetto Energie Nove; an ensemble with a vision to match that ofVukčević’s ownmusicianship – having since recorded remarkably vibrant accounts ofProkoZiev,JanacekandSmetanafortheDynamicmusiclabel.

    Vukčević’s teachers include the greatAlbertoLysy and JohannesEskaer (InternationalMenuhinAcademy), andhehaspreviouslyoccupied thePrincipalViola chairwith theStavangerandBaselSymphonyOrchestras.

    Distinguishedby the international press for his outstandingmusicianship and communication skills, Pablo de Naveránhas captivatedboth thepublicandcritics sincehewasveryyoung.At the age of 11 he began studying cello with MihaiBesedovschi, being selected at 17 in the prestigiousInternational Menuhin Music Academy in Gstaad,Switzerland, where he studied with Lord Yehudi Menuhin,Alberto Lysy and Radu Aldulescu, an experience whichprofoundly inZluencedhiscareer.He later joinedtheclassofPhilippe Muller at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de

    Musique in Paris, where he completed his academic degree, obtaining the highestdistinction. He has been awarded numerous prizes in national and internationalcompetitions,suchastheInternationalCelloCompetitionGasparCassadó,theNationalSpanish Chamber Music Competition for Young Musicians, First Prize at theConservatoireNationaldeParis,andtheinterpretationAwardattheCollegeofSpaininParis.

    Since then Pablo de Naverán has performed in recitals and as soloist in countriesincluding Switzerland, Germany, France, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Austria, Italy,Portugal, Spain, Argentina, Ukraine and Japan ; among the venues : the Teatro Colón(Buenos Aires ), Tokyo and Osaka Symphony Hall, Victoria Hall (Geneva), Tonhalle(Zürich),Philharmonie(Berlin),TeatroArriaga(Bilbao),andMozarteum(Salzburg).

    First Prize of the Swedish International Duo CompetitionwithpianistNathanaëlGouin,and3rdGrandPrizeaswellasSpecial Prize of the students of the Paris conservatories atthe Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud internationalcompetition, Guillaume Chilemme is one of the mostrecognized violinists of his generation. In 2010, afterobtaining his Masters in Violin and Chamber Music withcongratulations intheclassesofBorisGarlitskyandPierre-LaurentAimardat theConservatoireNationalSupérieurdeParis, he left to perfect his skillswith StéphanePicard andEckart Runge (Quartet Artemis) in Berlin, thenwith DavidGrimalinSaarbrücken.SelectedbySeijiOzawafrom2008to

    2013 to participate in the InternationalMusicAcademy Switzerland, he beneZits fromtheteachingofNobukoImaı,̈PamelaFrank,SadaoHarada,RobertMannandSeijiOzawa.Passionateabouttherepertoireofthestringquartet,hefoundedwithMarieChilemme,MatthieuHandtschoewercker andBrunoDelepelaire, theCavatineQuartetwithwhichhe won the same year two prizes at the Hamburg International Chamber MusicCompetition (ICMC). In August 2013, the quartet won the second Grand Prix at theprestigiousInternationalStringQuartetCompetitioninBanff(Canada).

    GuillaumeChilemmehasformedaduoformanyyearswithhisfriendNathanaëlGouin.Their discography includes an album dedicated to Ravel and Canal sonatas (LabelMaguelone)andarecordingdedicatedtoSchubert'smusic(LabelEvidence).Inaddition,they regularly perform in trio with Yan Levionnois.     OLGASITKOVETSKYHeadteacher PianoBorn in Moscow, Russia, OlgaSitkovetskystudiedpianoandconcertmasterskillsatthe College of Music afIiliated with the MoscowConservatory, and later at the St. PetersburgConservatory.

    Sitkovetsky has performed as an accompanist in numerousinternationalviolincompetitionsandhasreceivednumerousawards forheraccompaniment.Shehasalsoparticipated intheInternationalMusicalAcademiesinTours(France),Kent(England)andinsummercoursesinItalyandFrance.

    In1991,LordMenuhininvitedherasanaccompanisttotheYehudi Menuhin School of Music in Surrey, England. Her work at the School from1991-2000 has helped a number of students towin top prizes atmajor internationalcompetitions. Sitkovetsky now enjoys accompanying these former students, nowaccomplishedmusicians,intheirtoursallovertheworld.SheparticipatedinarecordingcelebratingLordMenuhin’s80thbirthday.

    In July 1998, Sitkovetskymade her ofZicial American debut at the renownedNewportMusicFestivalinRhodeIsland.

    Sitkovetskyhastouredextensively inItaly,Belgium,Gilbraltar, Japan,NewZealandandthe United Kingdom. 2002 and 2003 found her performing in some of the mostprestigiousconcertvenuesintheworldincludingCarnegieHall,theConcertgebouw,theSalzburgMozarteumand theViennaKonzerthaus. Shehas also recordedwith variousartistsforAngelRecords/EMIClassics,Dynamic,NaxosandASV.
