Munster Champions!! Congratulations to Youghal, who won the AIB Munster Club Intermediate
Hurling Final on Sunday, defeating Ballina (Tipperary) on a scoreline of 2-
13 to 2-10. They now go on to meet St. Gabriel’s (London) in the All-
Ireland Club Quarter-Finals.

Unfortunately, County Senior Hurling Champions, Midleton, lost out to
Sixmilebridge in the Munster Semi-Final, but Clyda Rovers powered their
way to the Munster Intermediate Football Final with a comprehensive win
over Ballyporeen, and now meet St. Joseph’s Miltown Malbay in
Saturday’s decider at the Gaelic Grounds. For all Munster Club fixtures,

Rebel Treble at All-Stars! Congratulations to the three Cork players named in this year's Opel GAA
GPA All-Stars team, Seamus Harnedy, Patrick Horgan and Anthony Nash.
It's two-in-a-row for Nash, who is one of only three players to have won
awards previously, the others being Brendan Bugler and Liam Rushe. He is
also the first Cork player to win All-Stars in consecutive years since Jerry
O'Connor in 2006, which was also the last year that Cork had more than
one player in the All-Star team. The full selection was: Anthony Nash

Rebel Óg Award for Doireann O’Sullivan Congratulations to Mourneabbey and Cork Minor and Senior Footballer,
Doireann O'Sullivan, winner of the October Rebel Óg Award, sponsored by
Cummins Sports and Rochestown Park Hotel, with media partners, RedFM
and The Irish Examiner. Doireann was honoured for her achievements this
year, which include a Munster Minor medal, a Minor All Ireland blitz medal,
a Senior B County medal and a coveted All Ireland Senior medal.

Retirement of Graham Canty Long-serving Cork captain and three-time All-Star defender Graham
Canty recently announced his retirement from inter-county football.
Tributes flowed in from near and far, and you can read a selection of
them here: http://ow.ly/qWOG. Canty has been joined in retirement by
Noel O’Leary, Pearse O’Neill, Alan O’Connor, Alan Quirke and Paudie
Kissane, while Ciarán Sheehan is taking up a contract with AFL side,
Carlton Blues.

Scór 2013/14: Launch and AGM The Cork County Scór programme of activity for 2013/14 is up and
running following a launch in the Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork.
For more than four decades, Scór has been the flagship of cultural
promotion within the GAA. Competition date schedules for divisional,
county, Munster and All Ireland levels are available from divisional
cultural/scór officers. The Annual General Meeting of Cóiste Scór Chorcaí
takes place in Pairc Uí Rinn on Tuesday 26th November, 2013 at 8pm.

Damien Cahalane Wins October Sports Award Congratulations to Damien Cahalane (Castlehaven), winner of the 96FM
C103 Rochestown Park Hotel Sports Award for October.
Damien was honoured for his contribution to Castlehaven's County
Championship-winning season, and accepted the award at a special
function at Rochestown Park Hotel.

Communications Award for Banteer/Lyre Congratulations to Banteer/Lyre GAA on winning the Cork GAA
Communications Award (Q3), powered by Compu b in association with
Silver Springs Moran Hotel. The award, an Apple iPad, was presented at a
special function at Silver Springs Hotel on November 13th.
Nominations are now open for the Q4 award, and submissions should be

League Finals: Eight Down, One to Go! All our League Finals have now been played, apart from the RedFM Senior
Hurling League, which has been delayed due to various Championship
commitments.
Well done to all our winners: Youghal (Div. 1 Hurling), Castlelyons (Div. 2
Hurling), Charleville (Div. 3 Hurling), Freemount (JA Hurling), Nemo
Rangers (Kelleher Shield), Clonakilty (Div. 2 Football), Glanworth (Div. 3
Football) and Fermoy (Div. 4 Football).

County Board Report The County Board Meeting of November 19th heard a variety of
presentations regarding specific areas of the Strategic Vision and Action
Plan: Games Development (Kevin O’Callaghan), Welcoming People from
Different Traditions (Kieran McGann), Urbanisation (Denis Coughlan), and
Ensuring the Safety and Well-being of Young Players (Marc Sheehan).
Reports from Ard-Comhairle and Munster Council were presented and
discussed, and have been sent to clubs, as has the monthly Progress
Report. The Draw for the Munster Minor Hurling Championship, which was
deferred recently pending clarification of Kerry’s involvement, will take
place on Thursday night.
A Health and Well-Being Sub-Committee is to be appointed, in accordance
with Rule 3.22 (O.G). Jerry Linehan (Inniscarra) was recommended as an
Intermediate Hurling Selector, while Alan Whelan (Brian Dillons) will join
the Junior Football selectors. Colm Crowley (Killeagh) has been appointed
as Games Development Administrator to fill the latest vacancy.
Tributes were paid to the Cork footballers who have retired in recent
weeks, most notably captain Graham Canty, and to Ger Cunningham on
his departure from the Senior Hurling management.
Fixtures were ratified and the proposal to introduce relegation to the
Senior Hurling League was defeated by sixteen votes to ten. Draws were
made for the 2014 Inter-Divisional Club competitions – see
www.gaacork.ie.
This was the final Board meeting of the year, with County Convention
taking place on December 14th.

Mouthguards and the GAA Since January 1st 2013,
it has been mandatory
for players in Grades up
to and including Minor to
use a mouthguard in all
Football Games and
Practice Football
Sessions. From Jan. 1st
2014, it will be
mandatory for all players
to use a mouthguard.
NB: Gaelic footballers in
all age grades must wear
a mouthguard from
January 1st 2014
• A properly fitted
mouthguard is the best
available protective
device for reducing the
incidence and severity of
sports-related dental
injuries
• Players can be sent-
off in a game for not
wearing a mouthguard
• Players will not be
covered under the GAA
player injury scheme if
they don't comply with
the mouthguard rule
