• Entrepreneurship developments programmes are the Human Resource developments programmes of the highest order which basically deal with human motivation, skills competencies, social and economic risks and investment of financial and physical resoures of the state. Therefore , the role of government in organizing EDPs much significance in a country like ours which requires the conversion of surplus labour force into real entrepreneurs to tackle the problems of unemployment and poverty means of the EDP mechansim.

Introduction of Entrepreneurship courses

• Several universities, Its management Institutes have introduced the courses of entrepreneurship in their curriculum to induce the students to choose entrepreneurial career instead of job employment.

The NSIC was established in 1955 as a Government of India enterprise to promote small scale industries in the country

• The main function of NSIC are:

I. To provide machinery on hire purchase basis

II. To assist small scale industries bringing fourth a large number of variable SSEs with its support under various schemes all over the country.

• State small Scale Industries Development Corporations (SSIDCs):

• The main functions of SSIDCs are:

a. To undertake distribution of scare raw materials

b. To assist the entrepreneurs in supply of machinery

c. To provide assistance for marketing of products of SSEs

d. To undertake construction of sheds/industrial estates

e. To provide allied infrastructure facilities & their maintenance

f. To provide management assistance to production units

• India investment centre (IIC)

• It was set up a non-profit making autonomous organization funded & supported by the Government of India.

• The main functions of IIC are:

a) It undertakes the task of promotion mutually-rewarding joint venture projects between Indian & foreign entrepreneurs.

b) It acts as a nodal point of dissemination of information relating to economic condition, laws, opportunities procedures and formalities for investment in India.

• District Industries Centre (DICs)

The District Industries centre programme was started on 8th May, 1978 with a view to provide integrated administrative frame at the district level for promotion of small scale industries in rural areas.

• The main functions of DICs are:

1) To assist entrepreneurs for availing land shed, equipment & tools, furniture & fixtures.

2) To appraise the worthiness of the project-proposals received from entrepreneurs

3) To help the entrepreneurs in obtaining required licensees/permit/clearance

• Industrial Estates Industrial estates are considered instrumental in

promotion of small & middle scale industries in the country.

An industrial estate is a tract of land which is subdivided & developed according to a comprehensive plan for the use of a community of industrial enterprises

It is place where required facilities & accommodation for factory/industry to the entrepreneurs to establish their industries
