Roger Barker Managing Director & Head of Abu Dhabi Office, Global Access CSG

Mr. Barker heads the Global Access offices in Abu Dhabi and London. He has over 20 years’ experience delivering consulting services in a diverse range of sectors in Europe and the Middle-East including decades of experience in the design and manufacture of capital engineering equipment solutions, cultural heritage assets, and other sectors, both nationally and internationally. In addition, Mr. Barker has held and holds numerous significant positions, including with Power of the World General Trading, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., International trading, MENA Regions – Middle East North Africa & Brazil and with Al Ufuq Company for Oil Services, Baghdad, Iraq. Mr. Barker has also been Managing Director of Horizon Middle East Ltd a U.K. registered company, specializing in advisory and consultancy services, with specific emphasis on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic engineering disciplines

and production engineering. Mr. Barker’s career spans many sectors, mainly associated with the engineering and industrial sectors, but also, Commodities (Sugar, Sunflower Oil/Cement/Coffee/Meat/Diesel Fuel), Culture & Heritage (Fine Art for Museums), General Trading (Industrial Products), Marine, Energy, Wastewater Treatment Plants, Construction, Architecture, Topographical (Laser) Surveying. He received his early training in the Machine Tool Design Industry.

Since 2009, he has been working in London and Abu Dhabi, advising the Owner/Chairman of Winner Consulting Engineers on Business Development and initiating pre-qualification procedures and completion with Government Ministries, including, Musanada, ADNOC, DoT, ADEC, ADDH, TDIC etc. Recently headed and finalized contract (supervision of contractors) for large aircraft hangar and administration building, for Royal Jet Group. Also, project management of fuel stations for ADNOC Distribution. He has also advised the Under Secretary of Abu Dhabi Purchasing Department in Procurement programs, including pesticides for Al Ain from international corporations Novartis, Red Earth, etc.

Previously Mr. Barker managed and supervised National & International Sales Teams, appointment, monitoring and termination of Overseas Agents and Distributors including in Germany, France Spain, Italy, Scandinavia (Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland). Also, Romania, Hungary and the former Czechoslovakia.

Following the economic collapse of the former socialist countries, Mr. Barker was appointed to head up new business operations in Houston Texas, USA, by opening an office in 1981, to serve the petrochemical industries in the “Sun Belt” states of Texas, Louisiana, California with UK manufactured capital equipment. Clients included: Hughes Tool, Reed Tool, Baker Packer, Cameron Iron, Camco, Hydril and others.

Mr. Barker returned to the UK after four years in the U.S. to take up the position of International Business Development Director of a UK manufacturing company manufacturing motors and drives for various industries.

Mr. Barker has a long track-record for leadership, enthusiasm, drive and determination and assisting clients in achieving objectives, on time and within budget.
