Vintage Style Crochet Projects by Agnieszka Strycharska
This book contains 32 vintage designs for the home and for your loved ones. With classically
beautiful projects to choose from including garlands, potholders, blankets, clothing accessories
and trims for pillows or towels there is something for everyone in this book. The author is an art
school graduate who replaced paintbrushes for hooks after the birth of her children, and never
looked back. The colour graphs are clear and while each project uses DMC Natura Cotton, these
could easily be substituted for other yarns. Many of the motifs could be transferred used for
other purposes, such as the flower cushion motif could be made into a blanket or bag.
Happy Crochet by Therese Hagstedt
Therese Hagstedt lives by the motto ‘colours make you cheerful’ and, boy, does it show in this,
her debut publication. There are over 60 kaleidoscopic projects to choose from and every single
one would make the perfect cheer-up gift for friends and family – from wonderful cushions,
lampshades and oven mitts, to sprucing up old coat hangers, beautiful homeware and cuddly
toys. Whether you’re a beginner or you have already mastered the craft, Happy Crochet is a great
way to boost your confidence with colour palettes, as well as being a handy resource packed
with simple tips and easy-to-follow illustrations and diagrams plus, of course, gorgeous images.
Crochet Flowers Step-by-Step by Tanya Schliazhko
Make the world a blooming marvellous place and say it with flowers! Give a cute crocheted
flower as a gift or make a pretty spray for yourself as a corsage. Once the seed is sown, you won’t
want to stop making these adorable embellishments. Enjoy picking from the 50 flower patterns
and watch your skills grow. Each flower sample comes with a clear, easy-to-follow step-by-step
sequence linked to a chart. Use your creations to decorate fashion accessories, garments, and
homeware. Tanya Shliazhko was inspired to start creating things by her grandmother, who
decorated her home with bright floral handmade accessories.
Animal Heads by Vanessa Mooncie
There are 10 animals here to select from including a hare, mouse, ram, bear, zebra and
a traditional stag. The projects vary in level of complexity and there is a comprehensive
techniques section to help you learn all the necessary skills. Each project includes beautifully
drawn crochet charts and detailed instructions. Hang them over the fireplace, make one for
a nursery or as an incredibly innovative, and always to be treasured, housewarming present.
Although Vanessa Mooncie works predominantly as a silkscreen artist and illustrator, she is
carving out a fascinating niche with her imaginative and showstopping animal crochet.
Take a Ball of String by Jemima Schlee
Who knew such a mundane item as a ball of string could be transformed into something
pretty special? Turns out the former Art Director for Laura Ashley Jemima Schlee did know, and
has taken time out to share her skills with us. The pleasingly tactile nature of string makes it
perfect for creating some crafty treasures. From rustic garden twine to soft cotton braid, these
eye-catching projects will kick start a whole new passion for coiling and knotting. There are
four easily accessible sections to the book; Kitchen, Bathroom, Porch and Study. All the basic
techniques and know-how are explained, with clear step-by-step instructions and pictures.
One Ball of WoolYes, a book that does what it says on the tin. One ball of wool that’s all it takes! Pick your
favourite yarn from cotton, silk or variegated yarn and start creating one of the 25 knitting and
crochet projects ranging from hats, scarves, headbands and mittens, to bags, toys and stylish
home accessories, such as baskets and throws. The designs are contemporary, the techniques
cater for all skill levels and the completion time is so short, the projects can be created by the
most time-poor of crocheters. This is a handy go-to book for stashbusting oddments of lovely
yarn and for last-minute homemade gifts.
