50% and Beyond
The last 6 weeks have felt like a whirlwind! We have had
record numbers of appointments and have been traveling
almost every week. We have seen tremendous fruit (keep
reading for GREAT news) and are thankful to have been
kept safe and healthy.
We took some time out a few weeks ago to celebrate the
milestone of 50% in our fundraising progress. It was a greatevening sharing and celebrating with friends and partners.
It truly is amazing to consider all of the good things that God
has done and His continued guidance and provision for us.
And more great news to share with you! As we type this
update we just surpassed the 61% mark of our fundraising
progress with GCM! It is so incredible to see all that God has
done even in these past few weeks. We truly do continue to
believe for Him to bring us new monthly supporters and to
release us to assignment in His perfect timing. Gods timinghas brought us to Ann Arbor to work with University of
Michigan students and we know He will complete the work
in His right time.
This work takes a team of amazing people like you. Know
that you are making an eternal difference in the lives of
students! We are grateful!
Love, Jon & Andrea
@ New Life Church
About a month ago New Life Church had its
annual Fall Retreat at FaHoLo Campground
in Grass Lake, Michigan. This is a time
where students go away for the weekend and
have an intense time with the Lord for 3
days. Its also a great time to build deeper
relationships with other students who
attend.
This year's retreat was absolutely amazing
with around 300 students in attendance!
The theme this year was A Hero is
Coming!. It focused on the Lords prayer,
specifically Matthew 6:10, Your Kingdom
Come. The messages challenged students to
become Jesus hands & feet to help others
see glimpses of the Kingdom of God. The
hope was that each student left with action
steps to see how they could do this through
their love, justice and compassion.
At mid-way through the semester it has been
fun to see growth in students relationships
with Christ. We are believing it will continue
and God will complete the work He has
begun.

Mikeys StoryMikey graduated last year from U of M and recently
completed his fundraising to come on staff at New Life
Church. His story is written in his own words.
When I was 7 years old, my mom told my dad she could no longer be married to him because shed been gay herentire life. I soon found myself in a house with two moms, neither of which ever really took an interest in me. Inaddition to my home situation being quite dis-functional, I was severely overweight and was made fun of forboth my family and my weight.
In 8th grade, my dad took me to a church where I heard the good news of what Jesus had done for me for thefirst time, and despite my fears and hesitations, I eventually decided to join the youth group there. The youthpastor, Giles, was the first person to ever ask me what I loved to do, what my hopes and dreams were, and tolove and appreciate me no matter what answers I gave him. He even drove the 40 minutes to my house to spendtime with me doing things I loved to do. His genuine love and interest in my life made me begin to feel secureabout sharing the deeper parts of my life with other men.
I found myself wanting to open up to other guys in the youth group, but soon my fear of openness with othermen transitioned from a fear of being made fun of to a fear that the guys would think I was not a good Christianbecause of the sin in my life. I was having impure relations with women, telling them I loved them, but onlywanting physical intimacy in order to prove to myself that I was physically and emotionally acceptable for oncein my life.
The pattern of using women intensified during my freshman year of college, even though I was involved at NewLife Church. I didnt want to keep living this double life, but I felt like I needed to in order to truly feel loved andvalued. But God had other plans. I was attending a small group in my dorm and wanted so badly to open up andbe honest about the sin in my life, but couldn't deal with the shame. Over the summer, while at the New LifeChurch Summer Leadership Training program, I opened up for the first time about the secret areas of my life. Itwas the most exhilarating and liberating moment of my life. Kyle, my small group leader, helped me to realizethat wounds from my past had played a role in this struggle, and that I would need to ask God to heal me if thispattern was ever going to change.
God has healed me and has brought me through an incredible journey of grace and love. I am now serving onthe staff at New Life Church, ministering to students that were just like me. I can show them the saving powerof Jesus Christ and his limitless grace that can permeate all of our lives!! And thats a slice of my life.
God to provide the last 39% of our budget.
Refreshing and rest as we take 2 weeks off in November.
Blessing on the lives of our partners with their finances, families and health.
Gods kingdom to continue to grow at the University of Michigan.
New people to meet with to share our passion for U of M students.
