This week is the final week of the athletics program for sport. I would like to thank Amanda Barton for providing a very comprehensive program to increase our students’ athletic skills and give them the confidence to participate in the Small Schools Athletics Carnival which will be held Friday 17 th May. Next Thursday, March 21 we are celebrating Harmony Day. We invite parents/carers, grandparents and friends to join us at 2pm. There will be musical items followed by food tasting and games. I have been approached by Jhana Allan who is offering private music lessons for piano and violin. Please see the information below. If you are interested in your child having private lessons Jhana can be contacted on 0404 139 058 Lucky Duck came to visit the students! Thank you Ella, Abby and Phoebe for sharing your fluffy duck with us. Hailing from Rocky River, Northern NSW, Jhana Allan started learning violin at age 5 and piano at age 9. She was involved in the local Armidale Youth Orchestra and Armidale Symphony Orchestra as well as the Musical Society. This allowed her to establish orchestral skills from an early age. She also played in a balkan-inspired band which played at Woodford Folk Fesval and the Sydney Opera House. She has since studied at the UTas Conservatorium of Music with Jun Yi Ma, Peter Tanfield and Lucy Carrig, and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with Sarah Curro. This educaon has led her to play with the Australian Youth Orchestra, Tasmanian Discovery Orchestra, The ANAM orchestra and The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Since finishing her studies, she joined successful Melbourne band The Woohoo Revue in 2013 and went on an internaonal tour of the UK, Denmark, Holland and Germany. Jhana has since played with trad jazz/folk band, The Willie Wagtails, started eastern European band, Rosenstein and folk duo, Sll Water. Jhana is currently focusing on her solo singer song wring career and is in the process of producing her debut solo album, Darkest Night.

I hope the information sent home last week regarding “Bullying No Way” was useful for families when

KEEPING UP WITH LOWER DIVISION

KEEPING UP WITH THE P&C!

Please Note

The P&C AGM will be held on Wednesday 3rd April at 5.30pm. We encourage you to come

along and have your say.

To be an active member of the P&C and be able to vote at the AGM meeting a fee of $1 had to be

paid at the general meeting last week, Wednesday 6 March.

We are always welcoming new P&C members so please come along and join us. Open positions will

be

President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.

CROSS COUNTRY - Our Small Schools Cross Country will be held in week 10 at the

UNE Bellvue Sports Ground. We will be asking for volunteers to help man the stall, cook the BBQ and

donate home cooking, eggs, water & golden circle poppers.

EASTER RAFFLE - Easter is fast approaching, we would like to run another successful Easter

raffle this year. We are asking for donations of Easter eggs. These will be used in our Hamper as well

as an Easter hunt for the students on Friday 12th April.

$1 Raffle tickets will go home with students in the next week, there is no obligation to sell them. There

is no limit to how many each student can sell. There will be a prize for the student who sells the most

raffle tickets.

Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. In schools we celebrate inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for all Australians, from the traditional owners of the land to those who

have come from many countries around the world.

Please join us at 2pm on Thursday March 21 for a

musical item, food tasting and games.

Our school will be attending the

Lantern Making Workshop

at St. Josephs School Uralla on March

25 from 9.30-12.

Lanterns will be used in the Uralla

Lantern Parade on 30th March.

Volunteers are welcome.
