man of the year
award-winning chef andrew nut-ter has been
crowned the 2015 roch-dale Man of the Year.
nutter, who runs nut-ters restaurant in norden,
was honoured for his charity work and for rep-resenting the town ‘nationally and interna-tionally’ at the 22nd annual Man of the Year luncheon on Friday.
The chef, 42, has raised more than £100,000 for rochdale-based Spring-hill Hospice, The Christie,
nSPCC and Hospitality action, since opening his first restaurant 22 years ago. He also played a cru-cial role in 2014 Man of the Year Harry Bell’s northern Lights Charity Ball in September by cre-ating a menu for the event and raised £4,000 by auc-tioning four tickets for a

accepting the award from Mr Bell, nutter said: “it is an honour and a privilege to win this great accolade. i am shocked and completely surprised.
“i first got involved with Springhill Hospice at the northern Lights ball ear-lier this year and that is when i got to witness first hand the great work the hospice does.
“i hope everybody will keep the ball rolling and continue to raise money for this great cause to keep the hospice’s doors open for years to come.
“i will keep represent-ing rochdale.”
announcing the winner Coun robert Clegg, chair of the judging panel, said: “He is a great promoter of rochdale and a great ambassador for all the charities he supports and for rochdale, both nationally and interna-tionally.
“He promotes all that is good about this borough -

about 200 men sat down for a four-course meal, with entertainment
provided by comedian Lea roberts.
Springhill Hospice fun-draiser Melanie Caffrey said: “The Man of roch-dale annual luncheon was a resounding success again this year, even more so than previous years, with 200 men sitting down
to lunch. “The whole event is a
wonderful celebration of the people of rochdale - we had over 40 nomina-tions this year.
“The panel must have had a difficult decision. andrew is a very deserv-ing winner.”
