Welcome to the Autumn 2012 issue of Service Link,our customer magazine, whose aim is to keep youup to date with developments within RobinsonServices.

Inside this issue you can read our impressive list of new contract wins such as the Giant Contract for the New Visitor Centre at The Giants Causeway whilst further cementing our relationship withmore hygiene contracts for the National Trust. In addition our portfolio of clients in Scotlandcontinues to grow as we welcome Princes Shopping Centre and Guildhall Office Accommodationto our portfolio and the contract award for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service andSavage and Whitten in Northern Ireland proves we have what it takes to win business throughoutthe United Kingdom.

Robinson Services New E LearningProgramme Gains Momentum Technology continues to move at a pace in the competitive

business world and now managers across all Robinson ServicesDivisions have completed the training modules on the online E-Learning H&S training programme, and are competent in the following;Accident Investigation Confined Space Entry, Asbestos Safety, Fire Safety, GeneralHealth and Safety, Hazardous Substances, Manual Handling, Risk Assessments, Slips and Trips,Working at Height and Violence and Aggression.

David Robinson, Managing Director, Robinson Services commented: “These training modules areexcellent sources of training. They are visual and auditory lasting a maximum of 30 minutes persession which enables them to capture the trainees’ attention for the length of the session. At theend of the session trainees are tested on what they have learned. This training is now beingimplemented at all sites; for all manner of staff, including security operatives, housekeepers andmaintenance staff. The courses are all available online to all staff, are very visual and make thetrainee think harder with a short test at the end of it proving that they have actually learnedsomething. It provides an accredited certificate at the end and also it saves time in that staff andmanagers have access to this on site or on their own time. A significant additional benefit is thatShauna O’Boyle, our H& S and Training Manager can manage the overall Company Trainingprogramme more effectively as she does not have to spend as much time travelling to different sitesto deliver this. Both the employee and the client will benefit from this training and we are going tocontinue to invest in this successful initiative.”

Robinson Services is delighted to announce that two members of staffhave been named Finalists for the BICS Cleaner of the Year Awards2012. Mark Rodgerson, a keyholder and cleaner at Smarts in Holywood,and Andy Haighway, a cleaner, housekeeper and janitor at WatersideMedical Centre have been recognised by the British Institute of Cleaning Science as having thepotential to be Cleaner of the Year!Carol Beck, Supervisor at Robinson Services commented: “Mark has a great attitude to work and

is very meticulous in his standards. He has great interpersonal skills so he gets on well with hisclients, and fully understands their needs. Mark has been working for Robinson Services since 1stNovember 2011 after a TUPE from an incumbent. When I first met the client the first thing she saidto me was – “do not move Mark from this site as it has taken us quite a while to get someone ashard working and understanding of our business needs as him!” When the time came fornominating staff for BICs Cleaner of the Year Award his supervisor and I had no hesitation in puttingMark forward.” Anne McKee, Supervisor at Robinson Services had this to say:“Andy has a great cando attitude to work that outdoes all others. He shows tremendous levels of commitment. When I first met him I was impressed with his excellent work standards, desire to please the clientand friendly personality. I knew Andy would make the final three of The BICS Cleaner of the Yearnominations and that he has a really good shot of winning the category. Not quite Bohemian Rhapsody…this time it’s the RobinsonRAPsody! “It’s a RAP” is an online marketing campaigndeveloped to promote the Pentagon Shopping Centre inChatham, one of Robinson Services’ key mainland basedclients, and was written by one of Robinson Services’ veryown security guards, L. Kilah. This simple two minute viral

video became a phenomenon and an instant youtube hit clocking up 18,000 views within aweek of going live, and at the recent BCSC Purple Apple Marketing Awards, the marketing videofor Pentagon Shopping Centre was the outright winner. David Huxley, Security Divisional Director at Robinson Services commented; “Whilst we are

proud to provide Security Services that delivery genuine value for money it looks like we cannow add rapping to our Security Porfolio. We are delighted to hear of L. Robinson Services, one of the UK’s premier names insupport services, is the latest company to take advantageof the O2 Open Employee Benefits Scheme. Employingover 1500 people across the UK this is a move that furtherbenefits the company’s already excellent reputation forinvesting in its people. O2 have a 60%+ share of the NorthernIreland mobile communications market, and now offer up to£125 bill credit on handsets for staff members within corporateorganisations. Ordinarily, organisations have to have existing business handset agreements withthe network to be eligible although this can differ depending on the size of the company andits workforce.Account manager Chris Langley and his team of O2 Open representatives have worked

tirelessly to register new companies and provide a service to the number of companies thatcurrently exist on the scheme. A follow up service and in bound sales service is offered as wellas the delivery of handsets and the setting up of Open Discounts.Chris stated; “Our aim is to create a long lasting mutually beneficial partnership with

Robinson Services, similar to that which we have with other organisations. The O2 OpenScheme was launched 6 months ago and already we are seeing a huge demand for our servicewithin organisations across the province. In this economic climate, companies view this as ameans of providing their staff members with another form of bonus or perk.”There are a large number of companies already registered on the O2 Open Scheme and with

The Loo of the Year Awards’ objective is toencourage the highest possible standard in all types of ‘away from home’or public toilets and Robinson Services are committed to implementingthese high standards throughout all the premises where they providesupport services to washrooms.

It’s not surprising that Robinson Services have chosen tosupport the Antrim Hockey Club. The four divisions of thecompany’s business which Adrian McCourt, CommercialDirector at Robinson Services describes as ‘a winningcombination’ - Cleaning, Hygiene, Security and Laundry -rely on the same qualities for success as in any team sport:commitment, passion, talent, and excellence.Adrian McCourt, Commercial Director, Robinson Services

had this to say; “There are many parallels between RobinsonServices and sport in relation to the people we work with. We both relyon experience and expertise to train staff and players to the highest standard, featuring the latest techniques and with trained staff offering support at all times.”Such dedicated training of their staff has produced a sports style work-rate for Robinson Services

and delighted their top clients including Junction One, Forestside Shopping Centre, McDonalds,Tesco, Lisney Belfast and The National Trust. Team Forestside Cyclists, sponsored by Robinson Services,recently completed their first fundraising event by cycling220 miles from Belfast to Dublin as part of Maracycle 2012,and raised a fantastic £2,200 for Marie Curie. The eventwas organised by Co-Operation Ireland who did a superbjob of looking after over 800 riders. And if that wasn’t enough, Team Forestside riders then

cycled a lap of Lough Neagh…another impressive 80 miles!David Robinson, Managing Director at Robinson Services

The Delivery Drivers were commended and given vouchers as appreciation byDavid Robinson, Managing Director of Robinson Services.David commented; "We are extremely proud of Nigel, Martin, Jimmy, Stephen and Derek.

The UK has ambitious plans to reduce nationalcarbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050. Wecan all wonder if it is achievable but RobinsonServices are playing their part by setting speedlimiters on its entire fleet of vans and lorries to 56mph and 52 mph respectively.Adrian McCourt, Commercial Director, Robinson

problem of carbon emissions implementing tough new standards thattarget the reduction of national carbon emissions.We always look at innovative ways of controlling our costs while trying to do our little bit

The contract wins continue at Robinson Services with the successful tender of the 3 yearcontracts to provide early morning cleans, daytime housekeeping, waste management, hygieneservices, dust mat rental and consumables for Princes Square Shopping Centre and GuildhallOffice Accommodation in Glasgow, and in addition, carpet cleaning and power washing toGuildhall in Glasgow and waste management to Princes Square. The contracts will providethese services for the premises which are a 100,000sq ft. Shopping Centre and a 7 story officeaccommodation respectively, and will create fifteen jobs for staff within Robinson Servicesbetween them.Gareth Lester, Operations Manager at Robinson Services commented: “These contract wins

mark more success for Robinson Services with Savills Managing Agents, and is recognition ofthe hard work and quality combined facilities services that have been delivered by RobinsonServices to Scotland. The acquisition of the contracts for Princes Square Shopping Centre andGuildhall marks an important addition to our growing portfolio of clients in Scotland and showshow committed we are to grow the business outside our Northern Ireland base.”One of Robinson Services new staff at Princes Square commented: “When you enter the

Robinson Services Acquire the Giant Contractfor the New Giant's Causeway Visitor CentreMore good news at Robinson

Services as the major contractfor the new Giant’sCauseway Visitor Centrehas gainedmomentum afterthe officialopening of thecentre on the3rd July 2012.Rising and

blending intothe landscape,with walls ofglass, basaltcolumns and astate of the artinterior designed byaward winningarchitects Heneghan-Peng,the Giant’s Causeway VisitorCentre is truly innovative. The energyefficient building boasts a number of exhibitionareas and a grass roof with 360 degree views of the Causeway coastline.Robinson Services is now responsible for providing cleaning services for the innovatively

designed Visitor Centre. The contract which began back on the 4th June 2012 with staff goingthrough World Host training, Fire and Evacuation training and National Trust Induction toprepare for the opening, has created employment for new staff; some of whom are in everymorning for a deep clean. They give all areas a thorough clean including doors, toilets, floors,entrances, and the café floor. There are Housekeeping Staff on duty every day from 10am to7pm who will ensure the whole site indoors is maintained in a clean and tidy way at all times.Robinson Services staff wear National Trust uniforms as they are expected to be able to answerany customer question just as the National Trust Staff are.This business win reinforces that major organisations such as The National Trust recognises

Robinson Services delivers exceptional levels of services, and the additions to an already veryimpressive client list are further evidence that Robinson Services continues to be a progressivecompany.David Robinson, Managing Director of Robinson Services commented: “We are delighted to

The contract is for threeyears and the laundry services division inAntrim will be providing laundry relatedservices across many Northern Ireland Fireand Rescue Service locations.Adrian McCourt, Commercial Director at

Robinson Services Secures Laundry Contract WithThe Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service

After a recent competitive tender, Robinson Services have been awarded the hygiene contract forthree years for the National Trust sites. Starting on the 1st March, Robinson Services are nowresponsible for the hygiene upkeep at all 21 National Trust sites. This grows the relationship on theback of Linen Hire for the Causeway Coast Hotel and the beautiful Castle Crom in Enniskillen and thecontract for Cleaning and Dust Mat Rental at several sites to date.Stephen Wood, Business Improvement Manager at Robinson Services welcomes the continuing

expansion of the Hygiene division of the business and commented: “Our infrastructure and provincewide representation is ideal for contracts of this size and we welcome The National Trust sites asexcellent additions to our already impressive client portfolio in Northern Ireland.
