Robison Crusoe as the fifth journey of Gulliver

Gulliver starts his journey from England.

Gulliver has Power in Lilliput. In second voyage Gulliver is humiliated by Brobdingnains.

In Laputa, Gulliver satire on every intellect fields. Houyhnms Voyage – contrast between Houyhnms &Yahoos.

After his four voyages, he gets nothing from the different worlds.

Meaning of journey is … NOTHING.

Sea is the bridge between two novel.

When he goes back to England , unfortunetly his ship is broken and reached at the ‘ Unknown Island ’

1. Being alone on Island his desires to be the king of the Land is fulfill.

Gulliver does everything which he can’t do in his four journey.

Be the source of the theme – Imperialism and Capitalism

Reveals the English mentality and mostly Human psychology.

Gulliver has to force to learn the different languages of different worlds but being a Crusoe he brust out his furstration in his fifth journey.

“ Crusoe teaches Friday the word “Master even before

teaching him “Yes” and “No” and indeed the he lets him know that

was to be (Crusoe’s ) name.”

Imperialism /Colonialism

Gulliver lost his original identity in his journey but on Island he becomes the master of Friday and Friday lost his original identity.

“Loneliness is punishment but Solitude is a boon.”

Satisfying with all things on island , gradually he turns to Spirituality.

Spiritual & Emotional growth:

Being the companion of the Nature Robinson Crusoe means ..Gulliver meets himself in fifth journey.

Get the Enlightnment

No conflict in his mind - becomes very clam and get the real truth of the life.

Solitudeness is the best experience

Meaning of four voyages of Nothing On island Gulliver understands own soul

Representative of all Human being & becomes Everyman at the end.

Finally, we prove that Robinson Crusoe becomes the fifth journey

of Gulliver.
