FIREFIGHTER ACADEMY
2020 Academy DatesJanuary 6 - March 13
2020 Spring Firefighter Academy Graduation will be held on the evening of March 13, 2020.
AdmissionCandidate must complete an application packet to be accepted into the Academy.Application process must be completed by December 20, 2019. Seating is limited.
No walk-ins will be accepted. Academy enrollment fills quickly, so apply early.
You must be 18 years of age by the first day of class to apply for the Firefighter Academy.
Out-of-State Firefighters: You will also receive full IFSAC Certification in Firefighter and Haz Mat. Please contact us for other details: 704-669-4193.
LodgingSeveral local fire departments will allow candidates to stay free-of-charge at their stations in hopes of reducing costs for out-of-town participants.
Required Materials
Textbooks and all other course materials are included in the fee.
Candidates Will Receive
• Quality Instruction• Certification - Firefighter I and II, plus
Haz Mat Awareness/Operations• Self Improvement• Self Discipline
Cost
• A $175, non-refundable fee is required
for student supplies including textbooks, uniforms, and other supplies.
• $1.30 insurance fee, due upon
acceptance into the Academy.• $180 Tuition (non-exempt or out-of-state)
Who Should Apply?
• Those with a willing mind and body and acceptance that this program is different in relation to normal certification programs.
• Students seeking employment with a municipal department. Prospective employers will visit classes to survey and recruit.
• Motivated individuals that strive to be their best
ScheduleThis program will follow all required hours and curriculum for Firefighter and Haz Mat Level One Responder, as well as other components such as RIT (Rapid Intervention Training), Résumé Writing and Interview skills.
A physical training (PT) component will be held daily in conjunction with the class.
Classes BeginJanuary 6, 2020 at 8:00 AM
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM and some Saturdays.
A complete schedule will be provided at the orientation, which will be held January 5, 2020 at 2:00 PM.
GraduationMarch 13, 2020 at 7:00 PM in the LeGrand Center on the CCC Campus. Family and friends of graduates are invited to attend.
