** To Ponder:

It is odd that his own followers didn’t know that they were talking with Jesus. Why do you think it was so hard

for them to see Him?

How do you think they were feeling after losing their dear friend?

Do you ever have trouble seeing the world around you when you are upset?

To Ponder (Olders):

Some readers think that Jesus’ followers did not recognize him because they had not fully

accepted the idea of his resurrection. What do you think?

Why do you think they finally recognized him when he broke bread with them?

Was their hospitality important to this story?

**To Do: Lots of things on the theme of Revealing

➢ Find the Old Testament Stories in this beautiful movie/dance. Lots of stories are hidden behind the screen.

See how many Old Testament stories you find revealed:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=7&v=rZKJcHVWI_4&feature=emb_logo

➢ Look at yet another Kids’ Easter video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1J4XEfZIxYA

➢ Concentration: What new things do you have time to do? Find some heavy paper, cut it into smallish squares,

and write each activity down on two squares. You’ll need at least three activities for the smaller ones. Older

kids can do many more pairs. Arrange the cards writing side down, in a random pattern. Try to find two that

match by turning them over two at a time on each player’s turn. Winner will have a completely revealed

board, and gets a fabulous prize, like deciding what game to play next.

➢ Walk your own Road to Emmaus. Take a walk this week, or maybe even every day this week, and make it your own Road to Emmaus. Where do you see signs of Jesus in the world around you? Where do you see signs of God in the world around you? Perhaps you would like to take your outdoor chalk with you and leave behind some symbols of Jesus for others to see. Some symbols of Jesus are the fish, the cross, an anchor, an angel, a butterfly, a dove and many more. Maybe there are others that you could make up – leave them for others to find.

➢ Scratch and reveal: Use some water-based paints to paint rainbows or circles on every inch of a piece of paper.

Wait until it dries. Then draw over it with your favorite dark crayon color – black, purple, brown, blue, green. Unfold a paper clip and use the end to draw a picture on your paper – this should scrape through the crayon and reveal the color below. Maybe you would like to draw a picture of something spring like – flowers, butterflies, the park in the spring.

➢ Movies and books for youngers: Movies: Beauty and the Beast, Secret Garden

Book: Secret Garden

Books for olders: Song of the Lioness series (Tamora Pierce) Will of the Empress (Tamora Pierce) Goose Girl (Shannon Hale)

➢ Google the “Road to Emmaus” for actual images. It’s in disrepair, but you can get a real feel for this place.

➢ And just because (with nothing to do with a reveal), a chapter of Hank the Cowdog read by his author: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_tHisRvQJg
