A Farewell LetterMembers
Eight-and-a-halfyearsago,Iwashiredas an hourly assistant to take photosat the 2005 Holiday Party. Then Icleanedoutthestorerooms(gross)andorganized the shelves (what a mess)and updated the member database(12,000 outdated records includingnext door neighbors of formermembers). Eventually I became theCommunications Manager in 2006(introduced the member surveys,regularnewsletters,startedourTwitteraccount)andin2009steppedintotheExecutiveDirectorrole(OSHAFocusFourgrant,welcometo therecession,Diane is retiring). Ithasbeenquite ajourney.
Since my car accident in 2012, mydoctors have been advising me toreduce my stress and work hours.Mybrain injury isnothealing and isdeveloping obnoxious complicationsso I have finally decided to taketheir advice and have submitted myresignationtotheboard.IammovingbacktomyhometowninNewMexicoandtakingajobwiththeChamberofCommercethere.
It was a difficult decision to leaveRMMI, especially with the recessionfinally over and the positive growththatisjustbeginningintheApprenticeprogram, the new direction for theFoundation, the redevelopment ofthe Certification program and itsContinuing Education component, and the construction of the RistCanyonVolunteerFireStation.

Fire Extinguishers
Have you inspected your fire extinguishers lately? Are they fully charged, strategically located, accessible and ready for use?
So often, fire extinguishers are purchased with enthusiasm, a vital need; and then, suddenly, because they are not regularly used, they are relegated to a secondary position in our operation.
Fire extinguishers must be kept clean to attract attention, they must be kept accessible to eliminate lost time when needed, and the rubber hose, horn or other dispensing component must be checked to guard against blockage.
CLASS “A” FIRES: Ordinary combustible such as rubbish, paper, rags, scrap lumber, etc. These are fires that require a cooling agent for extinguishment. Recommended extinguishers are—water through use of hose, pump type water cans, pressurized extinguishers.
CLASS “B” FIRES: Flammable liquids, oils and grease. Fires that require a smothering effect for extinguishment. Recommended extinguishers–Carbon Dioxide, Dry Chemical and Foam.
CLASS “C” FIRES: Electrical equipment. Fires that require a non-conducting, extinguishing, agent. Recommended extinguishers—Carbon Dioxide and Dry Chemical
