Global experiences

During my one-semester exchange at RMIT in Melbourne, I studied four courses and had a part-time job in a Vietnamese restaurant. You are allowed to work 20 hours per week. I grew a lot and gained a lot of new friends. Most importantly, I became more independent. I was very impressed with Melbourne’s culture. It’s a very peaceful city where you can meet a lot of friendly people.

Prepare for your career

Connect to industry

The six-month internship at Bosch Vietnam went by really fast. Yet, I managed to get good insights into how a leading corporation operates. Work life is very different. Acting as if I was an official employee of the company, I had to wake up early and work eight hours a day. I enjoyed every moment. The experience helped me to build my confidence and other competencies in the workforce. I also developed valuable friendships and connections.

I’m now working at a company called Amanotes. I get to experience different elements of the business, which I don’t think you would get in a traditional company. At RMIT, there were plenty of opportunities to be involved in different communities. I was part of a team that competed in the HSBC Business Case competition nationally and then in Hong Kong. It was fun to spend a lot of time with friends working on cases together.

Elefos is an emerging tech startup with expertise in areas such as blockchain and artificial intelligence. Our involvement with RMIT’s Economics and Finance program has been to explore strategies for bringing better efficiency and security to commercial applications in the context of digital economies. As one of the leading foreign-language universities in Vietnam, RMIT’s students are outgoing and possess a strong passion for the commercial side of technology, which is what we look for in our own team.

Studying in the Tourism and Hospitality Management program is such an engaging experience. I’ve been exposed to a lot of practical knowledge in the sector, both in terms of the Vietnamese and world contexts. The courses are a balanced mix of lectures and real-life observations from field trips. In the assignments, I’ve been able to analyse real-life cases and, at the same time, enhance my interpersonal skills. With these new skills and new knowledge, I’ve grown a lot.
