AVERBACH DISTINGUISHED GUEST LECTURER Sue Blanck, FSA, MAAA Former Executive Vice President and Chief Actuary at Aflac SOA Board Member Monday, October 29, 2018, 12:00PM-12:50PM, MBA Commons Susan R. Blanck was executive vice president of Aflac and Aflac Japan, and corporate actuary for Aflac Incorporated. As executive vice president, Ms. Blanck worked on Aflac Japan’s strategic marketing and corporate initiatives as well as Japan product development, while continuing in her capacity as corporate actuary. Ms. Blanck joined Aflac’s Actuarial department in the U.S. pricing area in 1993. She was promoted to second vice president and assistant actuary in 1998. In 2000, Ms. Blanck was promoted to vice president, and in 2002, she assumed responsibility for developing Aflac’s business and financial plans. She was promoted to senior vice president and deputy corporate actuary in March 2004, to corporate actuary in January 2006; assumed the additional responsibilities of first senior vice president, Aflac Japan, in June 2008; and was promoted to executive vice president in 2011. Sue Blanck is currently retired, but is on the SOA Board of Directors.

Chuck Lamonica is a Principal in the Brokered Services practice at Buck Global, LLC based in Berwyn, PA. He leads a team that focuses on Group Insurance, which includes Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment, and Disability.   Chuck Lamonica has 25 years of experience in employee benefits, including 17 years in consulting and eight years in group insurance underwriting working with the largest and most innovative companies in the country. His consulting projects include Strategy Development, Audit, Process Review, Financial Analysis, Rate Projection and Remediation. His expertise covers a wide range of issues focusing on

the design, evaluation and integration of health, life, disability and absence plans. Chuck Lamonica is the lead author of numerous surveys on absence management and productivity.

Chuck Lamonica graduated with a B.B.A. in Risk Management and Insurance and Legal Studies from Temple University.
